Walgreens Deals 3/8/09 - 3/14/09

It's another great week to shop at Walgreens. I have lots of Register Rewards from last week and plan on spending this week. Register Rewards expire two week after they are printed. I find that if I don't spend them soon, I forget about them or misplace them.

My new trick when shopping at Walgreens is to gather what I want to purchase, go back to the pharmacy area, find a chair, pull out my calculator, pen and paper, and figure out what I'm doing. I locate all the coupons I need. I count the number of items I'm buying and the number of coupons I'm using. (Can't have more coupons than items.) I make sure that the Register Reward I want to use is from a different manufacturer than what I'm buying. (A new Register Reward won't print otherwise.) A minute or two organizing and thinking through what I'm doing saves me time and hassle at the check out. It sure is nice that Walgreens provides me such a quiet thinking spot.

I'm posting only the best deals. Take a look at Walgreens' full ad here.

Information for those new to Walgreens EasySaver Catalog.

Don't forget March EasySaver Rebates and the Dove Money-Maker. (Dove deal is dead)

If I find more Walgreens' deals through the week, I will add them to this post. Check back before you go shopping.

Coupon Preview 3/8/09

There are two coupon inserts in this Sundays newspaper - SmartSource and Red Plum .

Some of my favorite coupons this week:

  • $1 - Garnier Fructis Style Product
  • $1 - Garnier Fructis Shampoo, Conditioner or Treatment
  • $1 off 4 boxes - Rice-A-Roni or Pasta Roni
  • $1 - Ken's Marinade
  • $1.50 - Soft Scrub Scrubby Pads
  • .35 - Dial Liquid Hand Soap
  • B1G1 - Air Wick Original Spray
  • $4 - Air Wick I-Motions Starter Kit

The Garnier Fructis coupons will get you free hair products at Walgreens this coming week.

Rice-A-Roni coupons have been few and far between. The coupon is not a great dollar amount, but it has a fairly long expiration date - 5/31/09. I'm hoping there will be a good sale on Rice-A-Roni before the coupon expires.

Remember: DEAL$ sell the Sunday Post Dispatch for $1. The early edition is published on Saturday and it includes all the coupon inserts.

I'm going to pick up a few extra paper this week. Just one of the Garnier Fructis coupons will cover my cost.

Qdoba eClub and Rewards Program

Join Qdoba's eClub and you will receive cool stuff like exclusive discounts, invitations to special event parties, and, of course, free Qdoba food.

It's free to join. Qdoba will even send you a voucher for free chips n' salsa just for signing up. Plus, you'll get a special gift on your birthday.

Pick up a Qdoba card (their rewards program) the next time you're in the restaurant and begin using it immediately.

When the Qdoba Card is swiped at the time of purchase, each full-priced entree is credited towards the rewards program. Qdoba Card customers will earn a free entree each time their account balance reaches 1,000 points. (It takes 10 to 12 entree purchases to earn the free entree.) After you have earned 1,000 point, the free entree will automatically deduct from your bill.

Register your Qdoba card on line and you'll receive a free order of homemade chips 'n salsa. After your card is registered, order the chips 'n salsa and it will automatically be taken off your bill.

I have eaten at Qdobas many times and didn't know about the rewards program until today when a reader sent me an e-mail about the Kirkwood location's grand opening. I'm not even going to think about how many free entrees I could have had.

You will have a chance to win burritos for a YEAR! And spin the prize wheel for Qdoba prizes.

Kirkwood Qdoba is located at 481 S. Kirkwood Rd. in the Woodbine Center.

Dove Money-Maker at Walgreens - Deal Dead

Edited 3/9/09
I've been reading that this deal no longer works. I guess that old saying, anything too good to be true ....

For the entire month of March, Walgreens has a Register Reward deal on Dove products. Purchase 8 Dove products and get a $10 Register Reward. This deal is a money-maker with Dove 99 cent items, and it's even better if you have coupons.

:: My Walgreens trip yesterday ::

8 trial size Dove deodorants .99 each = $7.92
4 - $1.50 off any 2 Dove deodorants - 1/18/09 RP = - $6.00
Final price: $1.92 and I received a $10 Register Reward
I was paid $8.08 to shop.

The deal is a $2.08 money-maker if you don't have the coupons.

This deal will work with any Dove product. This week Walgreens has a coupon in their weekly ad for Dove bar soap at 99 cents. I've also read about, but not seen, Dove travel/trial size bar soap for 99 cents.

First Warning: Not all Walgreens are created (priced) equally. A Walgreens located about a mile from where I shopped had the same travel sized deodorants priced at $1.29 - not a money-maker.

Second Warning: You may have to look in both the travel size area and the deodorant area to find these. No two Walgreens seem to be stocked the same.

The nicest Walgreens cashier told me that he needed to learn to shop like I did. I gave him my blog address. I hope you are reading.

Free Fries and Soda at Jack In The Box

Get your coupon for free fries and a small soda at Jack In The Box good Tuesday March 10th. Use it anytime between 12:00 am and 11:59 pm. No other purchase necessary.

I wonder, since Jack is back, if the freebies will end?

Free Sample of Splenda

Order a free sample of Splenda.
Choose between Fiber, Mocha or French Vanilla.

Fiber in my coffee? I'm choosing Mocha.

  • Mrs. Paul’s
  • Van de Kamp’s
  • Duncan Hines Oven Ready
  • Aunt Jemima
  • Lender’s Bagels

Coupon Alert: $5 & $3 Huggies Coupons

Coupons.com has available Huggies coupons. These won't last long, so if you buy diapers print them now.

Wait until next week to use them. Walgreens has a Register Reward deal planned that includes Huggies. It should make for a great deal on diapers.

Costco is offering a free sample of Ziploc Fresh Shield Freezer Bag. No Costco Membership is required.

Dierbergs Deals 3/3/09 - 3/9/09

Dierbergs is having a Thursday only sale this week. I love their one day sales and this one is a good one to stock up on breakfast items.

Many of the items have a limit of four. I have no problem loading up my trunk and shopping for the second time if needed.

I purchase breakfast cereal only when I get it for $1 or less. This week, Hannah Montana Cereal is on sale for .88 after coupon. I will have to figure out some repackaging so my boys will eat it.

I post only what I think are the best deals. To see the other sale items take a look at Dierbergs' full ad.

Remember:
1. Dierbergs doubles coupons .40 or less.

L'Oreal Paris Coupons and Free Samples

Register with L'Oreal Paris, sign up for their mailing list and they will periodically send you information about coupons and free samples.

Today in my e-mail, L'Oreal Paris sent me information for a free sample of their New EverPure Sulfate-Free Color Care System (huh?). I tried to pass the link on to you but couldn't. You will need to register to get the sample.

While poking around L'Oreal's page, I found several other coupons available for printing. Do a search for coupon and you should be able to find them, too.

Schnucks Deals 3/2/09 - 3/8/09

Schnucks has lots of products on sale at 10/$10 this week. Remember, each of the 10/$10 products rings up for $1. You don't have to buy 10 of anything to get the sale price.

I'm only posting the "best deals" I see. My definition of best deals are sale items that have a coupon match up or an item that are at the lowest price I've seen.

Take a look at Schnucks full ad here.

Remember:
1. Schnucks doubles coupons .40 and less in the St. Louis area.
2. Limit of 15 coupons doubled.
3. Ask for a rain check if they are out of a sale item.
4. On a B1G1 sales you have to buy two to get the deal.

If I find more Schnucks deals through the week I will add them to this post. Check back before you go shopping.

Shop 'n Save Deasl 3/2/09 - 3/7/09

Here's Shop 'n Save's deal this week - Get $5 off your next shopping trip when you buy $20 worth of participating P&G or PepsiCo products shown on page 1 of their weekly flyer.

It's hard for me to get excited about this deal. A .25 coupon for a $10 pack of Bounty Paper towel reminds me too much of why I never used coupons in the past. What's the use?

Doing the math - the Bounty deal, even with the coupon for your next purchase, comes out to .61 for the equivalent of a regular roll. I purchased the same thing at Dierbergs last week for .50.

If you are a loyal P&G purchaser, and want to take advantage of this "deal," the coupons are in the 3/1/09 P&G & 2/8/09 P&G inserts.

Take a look at Shop 'n Save's full ads here.

Remember:
1. There is no $10 off $50 purchase this week
2. Shop 'n Save does not double coupons.
3. Every Shop 'n Save should be accepting internet printable coupons.

If I find more Shop 'n Save deals through the week I will add them to this post. Check back before you go shopping.

Final price: $1.16 each

Aldis week of 3/1/09

Milk prices continue to fall at Aldis. The more I shop at Aldis the more I like them and their prices for dairy and produce.

Aldis used to be off my beaten path when running errands. Now because of their prices, it has become a regular stop. I must have a new "beaten path."

:: Deals I found at Aldis this Week ::

Skim Milk, 1 gallon - $1.99
2% Milk, 1 gallon - $1.99
Whole Milk, 1 gallon - $2.10
Orange Juice, 1/2 gal. - $1.89

Large Eggs, dozen - $1.09
Block Cheese, 8 oz. - $1.29
Shredded Cheese, 12 oz. - $2.49
Sliced American Cheese - $1.49
Sour Cream - .99
Butter, 1 lb. - $1.99
Margarine, sticks, 1lb. - .55

Wheat Sandwich Bread - $1.19
White Sandwich Bread - .79
Hamburger & Hot Dog Buns - .85

Grapefruit - .25 each
Red Seedless Grapes, 2 lb. - $1.78
Bananas - .45lb.
Oranges, 4 lbs. - $1.39

If you haven't shopped at Aldis, or it has been a while:
1. Make sure you have a quarter to unlock a shopping cart. The carts are like luggage carts at the airport. You rent them for a quarter, and you get your quarter back when you return the cart.
2. Take your own bags. Aldis does not provide free bags for your groceries
3. Aldis now accepts debit cards.
4. Aldis does not accept coupons.

Walgreens' March EasySaver Rebates

Rumor is that Walgreens' EasySaver Rebates will end after April, and they will be replaced with a different type of program. I hate to see it end, it seems to be the most consistent (doesn't vary from store to store - or clerk to clerk) promotion they offer.

View March's EasySaver Catalog here.

If you are new to Walgreens' rebates, check out my Walgreens EasySaver Catalog post.

:: Free After Rebate ::

Axe Shampoo, Conditioner, or Stylers - up to $6.99
ESR # 1 - limit 1

Memory Formula, 45 softgels - up to $19.99
ESR #2 - limit 1

Walgreens Extra Strength Headache Relief, 20 ct. - up to $2.99
ESR #3 - limit 1

:: Instant Value Coupons ::

Sambucol Cold & Flu Relief, 30 tablets - $12.99
$4 internet printable
$10 IVC (page 26)
Final price: Free

I usually don't run out and get the free after rebate items right away at the beginning of the month for several reasons:
  1. I wait until the previous month's rebates are loaded on my gift card. I then use my gift card to purchase the current month's rebates.
  2. I would like to use a coupon on every FAR item. Many times a coupon will be issued for a FAR item during the month.
  3. Sometimes FAR items are involved with another sale, such as a Buy One Get One sale. That mean two items for free!

Walgreens Deals 3/1/09 - 3/7/09

Walgreens has three money making deals this week because of Register Rewards. These items will sell out quickly, so shop early in the week if you are hoping to snag them.

For the best savings, roll your Register Rewards between different deals. (If you use a Register Reward for the same brand of product, you won't receive yet another Register Reward.)

There is always a lot to think about (Register Rewards, coupons, number of items, etc.) when shopping at Walgreens. I have posted helpful reminders at the bottom of the page.

If you have questions, e-mail me or leave a comment, and hopefully I will have an answer for you.

I'm posting only the best deals. Take a look at Walgreens' full ad here.

If I find more Walgreens' deals through the week, I will add them to this post. Check back before you go shopping.

Remember:

  1. Count the number of items you have and the number of coupons you are using. (A register reward is considered a coupon.) The register will not accept more coupons than items you're purchasing. Purchase fillers as needed.
  2. Always give the cashier your coupons in groups, first Register Rewards, then manufacturer's coupons, and then Walgreens' coupons.
  3. Only one Register Reward will print per offer per transaction. Split your items into several transaction if you want to earn Register Rewards on each of them. Example: This week if you want to buy more than one Colgate Toothpaste and get Register Rewards for each of them, they have to be in seperate transactions.
  4. If you use a Register Reward for the same brand of products, you will not receive another Register Reward. If you use a Register Reward for a different brand of products, you will receive a Register Reward.
  5. Ask for a rain check if the store is out of a sale item. They don't expire and you can use them at any Walgreens.
  6. You can use a Walgreens' coupon and a manufacturer's coupon on the same item. Read about Walgreens' Coupon policy.
  7. How to use EasySaver Rebates.
