Shop 'n Save Deals 4/6/09 - 4/11/09

$10 off $50 purchase this Thursday.

I'm glad I put off shopping at Shop 'n Save until this week. Many of their sales are good for a two week period, and sale items become much better sales with an additional 20% off.

At first glance, this week's advertisement didn't look that great. But when you start stacking the deals together, (Kraft Catalina - combine it with free eggs by purchasing Miracle Whip and the additional Catalina when you purchase A-1) there are some great deals to take advantage of.

I stopped in at Shop 'n Save yesterday to pick up an ad. I noticed an employee madly ripping the $1.98 sale stickers off of the Lay's Potato Chips. My first thought was that Shop 'n Save's ad was once again incorrect, and she would be posting the corrections. So, I decided to watch and see what see was doing. To my surprise, she replaced the stickers with a $1.88 tag. Hmm, Shop 'n Save is matching Schnucks' price on Lay's. I wonder if they match Schnucks' prices often? I'll have to start paying attention to this.

I'm only posting the best deals I see. Take a look at both of Shop 'n Save's full ads here.

Remember:
1. Shop on Thursday - $10 off $50 purchase.
2. Shop 'n Save does not double coupons.
3. Every Shop 'n Save should be accepting internet printable coupons.

If I find more Shop 'n Save deals through the week I will add them to this post. Check back before you go shopping.

My best buys this week: .99 pineapple, .39 bagged garden salad and 10 pounds of Russet Potatoes for $1.99, but they had no bananas. It's hard to plan ahead with produce purchases at Aldi, I just purchase what I can find for the best price and then plan.

If you haven't shopped at Aldi, or it has been a while:1. Make sure you have a quarter to unlock a shopping cart. The carts are like luggage carts at the airport. You rent them for a quarter, and you get your quarter back when you return the cart.
2. Take your own bags. Aldi does not provide free bags for your groceries
3. Aldis now accepts debit cards.
4. Aldis does not accept coupons.

Holiday Dinner on Unilever

The 4/5/09 Unilever coupon insert included a great mail-in rebate form.

Purchase any ham or turkey and $40 worth of Unilever products between 4/1/09 and 4/30/09, and get the cost of your ham or turkey back in a rebate. Products can be purchased in multiple shopping trips. All requests must be postmarked by 5/7/09.

Is the $40 purchase before or after coupons? Rebate forms never address this question. My thoughts - in the St. Louis area, besides Target receipts you can't tell which products you used coupons on, unless you just purchased one item. I've never used a Target receipt for a rebate and I always figure the required purchase amount before coupons.

I never run out and purchase products just because of a rebate offer. I do, though, keep all my receipts. When a rebate offer is running, I will put the receipts that qualify in a separate envelope. Towards the end of a rebate period, I will check to see how close I am to qualifying for the rebate. If I'm only short a few dollars, I will then purchase something just because of the rebate. If I'm more than a few dollars short, I don't bother with it. With as many brands as Unilever has, this rebate shouldn't be hard to qualify for with just my regular purchases.

Participating Unilever brands:
  • Axe
  • Ben & Jerry’s
  • Bertolli
  • Breyers
  • Caress
  • County Crock
  • Degree
  • Dove
  • Good Humor
  • Hellmann’s
  • I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter!
  • Klondike
  • Knorr
  • Lever 2000
  • Lipton
  • Recipe Secrets
  • Lipton
  • TeaPond’s
  • Popsicle
  • Promise
  • Q-tips
  • Ragu
  • Skippy
  • Slim·Fast
  • Suave
  • Sunsilk
  • Vaseline
  • Wish-Bone

Walgreens Deals 4/5/09 - 4/11/09

This week there are many items producing Register Rewards. I have a love-hate relationship with them.

I love I can get so many free or very inexpensive products at Walgreens. And I can use a Register Reward to pay for an item that will produce another Register Reward.

I hate that I have to remember to count the number of coupons I'm using, because at Walgreens you can't use more coupons than items you're purchasing. And that if I forget, and try to roll them within the same manufacturer's umbrella of products, I don't get the next Register Reward.

Oh well, thinking is the price you have to pay for free merchandise at Walgreens. At the end of this post I have listed the things you have to remember when shopping at Walgreens.

I'm posting only what I think are the best deals. Take a look at Walgreens' full ad here.

Don't forget April's EasySave Rebates.

If I find more Walgreens' deals through the week, I will add them to this post. Check back before you go shopping.

Remember:

  1. Count the number of items you have and the number of coupons you are using. (A register reward is considered a coupon.) The register will not accept more coupons than items you're purchasing. Purchase fillers as needed.
  2. Always give the cashier your coupons in groups, first Register Rewards, then manufacturer's coupons, and then Walgreens' coupons.
  3. Only one Register Reward will print per offer per transaction. Split your items into several transaction if you want to earn Register Rewards on each of them. Example: This week if you want to buy more than one Speed Stick Deodorant and get Register Rewards for each of them, they have to be in separate transactions.
  4. If you use a Register Reward for the same brand of products, you will not receive another Register Reward. If you use a Register Reward for a different brand of products, you will receive a Register Reward.
  5. Ask for a rain check if the store is out of a sale item. They don't expire and you can use them at any Walgreens.
  6. You can use a Walgreens' coupon and a manufacturer's coupon on the same item. Read about Walgreens' Coupon policy.

Freebies from Walmart

I love the samples that Walmart makes available. They usually come quickly, I haven't had any spam from them, and they usually include a coupon.

Word is that Rachael Ray Nutrish dog food is a reset. This sample was available before and if you requested this sample before you will be able to get another sample. I'm going to request another one, the dog seemed to really enjoy it. Well, not as much as a cookie snatched off the counter, but ....

Samples I've previously posted that are still available:

Women's Final Four in St Louis

The Women's basketball Final Four is in town this weekend and there are several free activities to take advantage of.

A few years ago when the Men's Final Four was in town, we took the kids to the activities and had a great time. It was such a family oriented festival. not anything like some of the other "adult" festivals in town. If you have kids or not I think you would enjoy the activities - that is if you are a basketball fan.

Open Practice and Team Autograph Sessions - Saturday

Hoops City Interactive Fan Festival - Saturday through Monday

CVS is Coming to St Louis - Week 4

Week 1: CVS is Coming to Town
Week 2: Sign up for Your ExtraCare Card
Week 3: Attach Your ExtraCare Card to your e-mail.

Week 4: Earn 2% Back with Every Purchase

CVS tracks your spending with your ExtraCare Card. You will get 2% back on almost all your purchases. - Excludes alcohol, tobacco, lottery, gift cards, money orders, postage stamps, pre-paid cards, prescriptions, and special order Home Health Care items, including footwear.

On prescriptions, you earn $1 on every two prescriptions purchased.

The money you earn will be issued in Extra Care Bucks (ECB's). Every three months, the ECB's you have earned will print on the bottom of your store receipt. ExtraCare Bucks are coupons you can use on your next purchase at CVS.

I don't get too excited about these quarterly rewards because these rewards are earned on what you have spent out of pocket. My winter 2009 spending was $14.34 and I saved $318.13. I didn't qualify for the reward this quarter because the smallest quarterly ECB issued is for 50 cents. But I'll take 95% savings over 50 cents anytime.

Free Skintimate and Edge at Walgreens

Purchase Skintimate Cream Shave at $2.99 and get a Register Reward for $2.99.

Purchase Edge Infused Energy Shaving Gel at $3.59 $2.99 and get a Register Reward for $3.59 $2.99. (sorry, my mistake on the price)

Both of these items are Free after Register Reward! This promotion is good through 4/25.

I found both of these items not only in the shaving supplies area, but on cardboard displays around the cosmetic area.

Warning: If you want to purchase both items, purchase them in separate transactions, otherwise you will not receive Register Rewards for both. Also, remember you can't roll Register Rewards from the same manufacturer. You will not receive a Register Reward if you use one of these Register Reward to pay for the other.

Warning #2: Register Rewards are not always printing for these items. There is print advertising on the display and shelf about the Register Reward. Make sure you purchase an item with the advertising, and if your Register Reward does not print, ask to speak to the manager. My Register Reward did not print yesterday, and the manager just refunded my money instead of trying to get the Register Reward to print.

Free Glad ForceFlex Trash Bag Sample

Request a free sample of Glad ForceFlex Trash Bags. This offer is from Sam's Club. A membership number is not required.

I love these trash bags. I hope a coupon comes with the sample. These bags are way too expensive at regular price. The only time we have had them in the house is when my husband went to the store.

Dierbergs Deals 3/31/09 - 4/6/09

Dierbergs is having one of those giant meat sales again - pick 5 meat or seafood packages for $19.99.

I checked out how good a deal this was yesterday. I think some of the meat packages are a pretty good deal and others not so much. It all depends on how the meat is packaged. Regular price on the packages ranged anywhere from a little over $4 to $8.

Chicken, pork steaks, and hamburger are not the best deals, since you can find them on sale often. The sirloin and fish items are much better deals for me.

I post only what I think are the best deals. To see the other sale items, take a look at Dierbergs' full ad.

Remember:
1. Dierbergs doubles coupons .40 or less.
2. Limits 15 total coupons doubled.
3. Limits 3 identical coupons.
