Menu Plan Monday - Week of 2/8/10

I was going to save the baby back ribs I bought this week to have on Valentine's Day since they are my husband's favorite, but I couldn't fit them in the freezer. Pork chops are his second favorite meal - we will have them again this week. I don't think he would care if we ate chops every night. At least he is easy to please.

DEAL$, Dollar Tree and Sam's Club sell the Sunday Post-Dispatch for $1. The early edition is published on Saturday and it includes all the coupon inserts. And they usually still have Sunday papers left on Monday. Find the Deal$ , Dollar Tree or Sam's Club closest to you.

I usually bury my Aldi purchase at the end of my post, but not this week. I had to give Aldi top billing because it is the only healthy food I bought. I'll give myself some slack - it is Super Bowl week and it's the best time of year for snacks.

And, I finally spent some splurge money. I've budgeted this year for things that I don't find on sale, but I'm finding it hard to spend that part of my budget.

This is as healthy as it gets this week, even though I bought butter and 1/2 & 1/2.

I hear from so many readers the difficulties they have shopping at Walgreens, but when it works, it really works.

Dierbergs has started to scrutinize printable coupons. Their new guidelines - they do not accept a printable coupon over 50% of the price. A cashier told me the 50% threshold was the original price, another reader was told the sale price. Ask at your store how they are dealing with these new guidelines.

2. Limits 15 total coupons doubled.

On Friday, America's egg farmers are giving their Facebook fans a FREE dozen eggs with the purchase of a dozen eggs.

Become a Fan of Incredible Edible Egg and on Friday, 2/5/10, the first 30,000 egg lovers who visit their Facebook page and click on the "Free Eggs" tab will be able to download the B1G1 coupon.

Note: The grocery stores in St Louis have been reluctant to accept a B1G1 printable coupon, so ask at Customer Service if your store will accept it. But, I haven't heard of people having any problems at the discount or drugstores with B1G1 printables.

CVS Rainchecks

With only 4 stores open in St Louis, CVS having the really good deals in stock is going to be a continual problem. Even when they open more stores, it might still be a problem. But, CVS has a great Raincheck policy - make sure you ask for one when they are out of stock on an item.

CVS Rainchecks:

• Do not expire
• Can be used at any CVS location
• Extra Bucks will be issued upon Raincheck redemption

Advantages of having a Raincheck:

• Let CVS store your stockpile
• A coupon, or better coupon might become available
• You might have a $/$$ store coupon to use when you redem your Raincheck

Organizing tips:

• Clip the picture & info from the ad and attach it to your Raincheck. This way, you won't have to remember (or decipher the cashiers hand writing) on which exact product it is for.
• If you see a coupon for a Raincheck item, clip it and attach it to it. You will have everything you need when the item comes in.
• Keep all CVS Rainchecks (with ad attached) and your matching coupons in a envelope labeled CVS.

Once you have a stash of rainchecks, it really doesn't matter if they have the current weeks deals in stock. You will be able to find a great deal spend your ECB's on.
