FREE Soup at McAlister's for iPhone Users

Download McAlister's Deli new app for iPhone, and from June 7th to June 11th, show them your newly downloaded McAlister's app and you'll receive a FREE cup of soup.

The app can do lots of other things too. Shake it to choose the perfect combo or find the nearest McAlister's restaurant.

I've had my iPhone for about a week, and I'm not sure I've figured it all out. McAlister's is my first app - my fourteen-year-old had to download it for me. I've never been to a McAlister's before. I might try them out this week.

For all you iPhone users, what apps do you think I shouldn't live without?

If you haven't shopped at Aldi, or it has been a while:
1. Make sure you have a quarter to unlock a shopping cart. The carts are like luggage carts at the airport. You rent them for a quarter, and you get your quarter back when you return the cart.
2. Take your own bags. Aldi does not provide free bags for your groceries.
3. Aldis now accepts debit cards.
4. Aldis does not accept coupons

If you buy something at Aldi you are not please with, they have a double guarantee. If for any reason, you are not 100% satisfied with any product, they will replace the product AND refund your money. More info HERE.

Super Savers at Walgreens

Last week, I posted readers' pictures of their Shop 'n Save purchases, and it was a very popular post. As I mentioned earlier in the week, as long as readers were interested, I would pick a store and everyone was invited to send a picture of their purchases. I would post them along with a little blurb about their experience. Staci sent pictures this week. Thanks for sharing!

Edit: Judy sent me a picture of her Walgreens purchases. Scroll down to see what a great shopping week she had!

Staci's picture and story
I made 2 trips to Wags this week and did 4 transactions total. It's not my best week, but still a pretty good one. I ended up having to buy a Butterfinger at each store because my calculations were off when I got to the register, but my husband certainly didn't mind! Neither store would let me use the $1 Reach Qs I had, but not a big deal since we don't really care for the crystal clean toothbrushes anyway.

Summary of what I bought:
1 - U by Kotex pads
1 - U by Kotex liners
1 - RejuviCare liquid
4 - Ecotrin
3 - Neutrogena facial bars
4 - Lindsay olives
1 - Oxi Clean power paks
1 - Bumble Bee tuna
2 - Butterfingers

Started with $27 in RRs, spent $1.48 OOP, and ended with $33 in RRs plus a Q for free Always pads and a Q for free Always liners. So a profit of $4.52 and free Always pads and liners. WooHoo!!! Gotta love Wags!

Judy's picture and story

Here is a summary of what I bought in 3 transactions

4 bags Hershey's & Reese's candy
4 bags lifesavers
2 Nivia Body Wash
1 Luster toothpaste
2 Stove Top
2 Ecotrin
2 A-Z vitamins
2 Kotex U
2 Nature's Bounty C & D3
6 Neutrogena facial bars
400 sheet printer paper
2 Nivia lip care
1 Butterfinger bar
1 Butterfinger Snackerz
Not pictured- 1 gal milk
1 Pure 24 pk water
1 Butterfinger and 1 Snackerz (I couldn't resist on the way home)

$123.57 Retail.
I started with $26 RR, spent $3.25 OOP not including tax. I have $24.50 RR for next week.

I'm not really sure how you calculate your percentage of savings. I just take my OOP and divide it by retail price. Is that how you do it?
If so, then my percent saved is 97%.

You can still participate:
  • Email me a picture of your Walgreens purchases and I'll ad them to the post
  • If you have a blog, email me the link to your article about your Walgreens purchases
  • Leave a comment with your Walgreens Super Savings

Remember: You want multiple coupons to use when a product is at a rock bottom price. When it's a good coupon insert week, I purchase 4 or 5 papers and sometimes acquire more. At first, I thought it was crazy to spend money to save money. But I've always saved much more than my $1 investment.

DEAL$, Dollar Tree and Sam's Club sell the Sunday Post-Dispatch for $1. The early edition is published on Saturday and it includes all the coupon inserts. And they usually still have Sunday papers left on Monday. Find the Deal$ , Dollar Tree or Sam's Club closest to you.

Saved 67% This Week

I didn't save any huge percentage this week, but I'm pleased with my purchases. It is easy to get wrapped up in how much you saved. More importantly, it's if you can stay within budget and feed the family.

I was hoping to get back to Walgreens to pick up some more deals, but that didn't happen. I might try tomorrow and see if they have any of this week's great deals still in the store.

Krispy Kreme and Dunkin' Donuts certainly know it is, and are celebrating with offers of FREE Doughnuts.

And one local donut shop. The Donut Palace of Ellisville FREE round donut. No purchase necessary. (Thanks, Angie at Short on Cents!)

Beyond Pop-Tarts and Fruit Roll Ups

I've certainly bought my fair share of Pop-Tarts and Fruit Roll Ups, but I do think about healthier alternatives. I was excited when Jennifer, a reader, contacted me about her new blog, Healthy Life Deals.

I've always wanted to incorporate healthier alternatives into my blog, but I just haven't been able to find the time. Now, with Jennifer's help I'm going to include Whole Foods in my weekly posts.

I'll let Jennifer introduce herself:

Hello Fellow CouponSTL Fans-
My name is Jennifer and I’m a 37yr old unemployed nanny. Finding Jeri’s blog has turned me into a coupon addict. My husband is embarrassed to walk into the store with me and my coupon binder- hee hee. I am sure most of you can relate that it is painful to think of paying full price for anything. I have days when I can’t bare to pay more than 10% of the regular price for anything. Then one day I realized that I was buying a lot of processed food- I got most of them for free or a pennies but they were mostly processed unhealthy items. Looking at my storage shelf filled with 23 boxes of pop tarts, 18 bags chips, and more Hershey Special Dark bars than I could count-OOPS. I realized I needed to live healthier but could I afford it??

It was then that I decided to prove people wrong (including myself) that you can live a healthy life on a TIGHT budget. I decided to try out Whole Foods at one point nicknamed “Whole Paycheck” and figure out a way to shop there without spending my “Whole Paycheck”. I was thrilled to find that there are a TON of healthy deals to be had. Jeri will start posting my weekly list for Whole Foods from my Healthy Life Deals blog. Which is full of freebies, giveaways, printable coupons, etc. focused mainly on encouraging a healthier life? Hope you check it out and enjoy it. Questions and Comments are welcomed. Thank you Jeri for this opportunity!

Jennifer, where did you find the free chips? I must have missed that deal.

Stella Artois Beer Rebate - Save $6 on Seafood

This beer rebate is a little harder to find, since the front of the brochure doesn't mention the rebate. Although, the backside says Save $6 in big letter.

Bud Light Beer Rebates

Be on the look out for two beer rebates from Bud Light.

Save $6 via Mail-In Rebate on purchase of Pork, Poultry, Beef or Seafood
  • No beer purchase required
  • Valid for residents of Missouri, AL, AR, CT, HI, KY, MA, ME, MN, MO, NJ, NY, RI, SD, UT, VA, and WV only
  • Purchase must occur between 5/1/10 - 8/30/10
  • Purchase price of pork, poultry, beef or seafood must exceed $10
Save $6 via Mail-In Rebate on purchase of Fresh or Frozen Chicken
  • No beer purchase required
  • Valid for residents of AL, AR, CT, HI, KY, MA, ME, MN, MO, NJ, NY, RI, SD, UT, VA, and WV only
  • Purchase must occur between 5/1/10 - 6/30/10
  • Purchase price of fresh or frozen Chicken must exceed $10

For those not familiar with beer rebates, you periodically will find a rebate offer with a beer display. In Missouri, no beer purchase is ever required. The qualifying products are things you probably buy anyway. I've seen them for meat, cheese, salty snack, produce, soda and many other everyday items.

I found these rebate forms at a Schnucks, but you might find them at any retailer that sells beer. If you don't find the rebate form this week, keep looking. It's common that the forms appear very close to the end of the offer period.

I particularly like these Bud Light rebates. I bought ribs a few weeks ago and chicken today. I won't have to purchase anything different than I already did. I'll just fill out the forms, include my receipt and wait for my money.

Kraft Frist Taste - Possible Coupons for Free Products

Have you been checking your First Taste account? A few weeks ago, several readers reported getting coupons for FREE products or high value coupons. Nothing for me.

I check my account today and finally had the offer for FREE product coupons.

Kool-Aid Fun Fizz Drink Drops (up to $2.49)
Oscar Mayer Deli Fresh Shaved Meats (up to $4.50)
Ritz Crackerfuls Filled Crackers (up to $3.49)
Kraft 100 Calorie Pack Cheese Bites (up to $3.29)
Kraft Homestyle Deluxe Macaroni & Cheese Dinner (up to $3.99),
DiGiorno Deep Dish Pizza (up to $3.30)

Check your First Taste account if they missed you the first time around.

If you haven't signed up for Kraft First Taste, register HERE - it's FREE. Not only do they periodically offer coupons for a FREE product, but you get to share your opinions about them.

Reminder - Nivea Happy Hour 3 pm CDT

Head over to Nivea's Facebook Page at 3 pm to see what goodies they are offering today.

Remember Nivea's Happy Hour is each Thursday and the offers are only good for an hour.

While you're on Facebook, "Like" Coupon STL and you'll get all the deal I post in your News Feed.

Heineken Beer Rebate

Three different rebates in this form.

Save $20 by mail with the purchase of $30 of Premium Meat and/or Seasonings. Or Save $10 my mail with the purchase of $20.

Save $5 by mail with the purchase of $15 worth of Fresh Produce

Save $5 by mail with the purchase of (1) 4-pack of any Energy Drink
  • No beer purchase required in Missouri, AL, AR, CT, HI, IN, KY, ME, NC, NJ, NY, OK, UT or WV.
  • Offer good 5/1/10 - 9/30/10
  • UPC code label for each qualifying product and original cash register receipt(s) required

For those not familiar with beer rebates, you periodically will find a rebate offer with a beer display. In Missouri, no beer purchase is ever required. The qualifying products are things you probably buy anyway. I've seen them for meat, cheese, salty snack, produce, soda and many other everyday items.

When I find a rebate form, I look back through my saved receipt, find the qualifying products within the purchase dates, look for UPC's in this case, fill out and mail the form, and wait for my FREE money.

I have found this rebate form at a Shop 'n Save, Schnucks and Deirbergs, but you might find them at any retailer that sells beer. If you don't find the rebate form this week, keep looking. It's common that the forms appear very close to the end of the offer period.

Call for Super Savers

Are you a Super Saver?

Last week, I posted pictures of what great deals readers picked up at Shop 'n Save. It was a very popular post. If readers are interested, I would like to make this a weekly feature. Not Shop 'n Save every week, but whichever retailer has the best deals.

I'll post readers pics either Friday evening or Saturday morning.

This week's call for Super Savers: Walgreens.

Ways to participate
  • Email me pictures of your Walgreens purchases with what you spent and a small blurb about your experience.
  • Email me the link to your blog post about your Walgreeens' purchases.
  • After the Super Savers post is up, leave a comment with what you purchased and saved.

Warning: It takes a strong backbone and thick skin to be a couponer. There are a few negative Nellies that like to be judgemental.

I don't judge what others purchase. I don't think it's right to clear shelves just because you can, but on the other hand, I have no idea of what others circumstances and needs are. I hope everyone will keep this in mind when they leave a comment.
