Do You Have Or Use a Foodsaver?

I've been looking at maybe purchasing a FoodSaver.  I think they run about $70 at at Target, and now, Redplum has a $10 off any FoodSaver Vacuum Sealing System coupon available. 

It's not so much the price of the machine that has stopped me from purchasing one, but the price of the bags.

Does anyone have a FoodSaver?  Are they worth the money?  Which model should I purchase if I do buy one?

Sunday Shopping Field Notes

I really meant to get this posted yesterday, but I've come down with a head cold that is really knocking me on my rear.  Now, if I can read my chicken scratch notes from yesterday.

CVS

• Playtex GentleGlide - The store I shop doesn't stock the 18 ct.
• Prices - More & more ECB deals in the ad don't includes prices. I've been picking up online prices for my match-ups.  I checked to see how or if they were different at the store I shop.   Nivea Kiss of Shine $3.99 in the store $2.99 online but Schick Hydra Gel $3.99 in the store and $3.49 online.  I shop in the City. If CVS is anything like Walgreens, City prices are higher than the burbs.  Has anyone else compared online prices and the prices at the store they shop. 
• EOS - This was reported on other blogs/forums as  $2.99 and producing a $2.99 ECB for the entire month of December. Other blogs I've read it was for only one week.   I priced checked it on Saturday and it was $2.99, Sunday $3.49.  I don't think it is a monthly deal.
• Coupon Machine - $2.50 off Planters Flavor Grove.  I couldn't find this product or a place for it at the store I shop.  It's reported that Planters Flavor Grove is selling for $2.50 .  FREE after this coupon, if you can find the product.

Walgreens

• Revlon Nail - The Walgreens coupon for Revlon Cosmetics beeped for me, but the cashier reached into her drawer and pulled out a Revlon tearpad coupon for $1 off nail polish.  And then, every other coupon I used beeped.  So, I don't know if the Walgreens coupon for Revlon Cosmetics in the Gift Guide will beep or others or not. 
• Hallmark Register Reward Deal - I posted about this great deal.  I purchased (2) $0.99 cards and receive a $2 RR.  There were lots of $0.99 cards at the store I shop.
• Super Jingle Cash - I didn't buy enough to even think about this deal.  Most readers are reporting it is $25 purchase requirement before coupon, but others haven't didn't get it.  It's Walgreens - who knows what will happen?

Target

• Nabisco Crackers - Ritz, Wheat Thins and Chicken in a Biskit were included in the sale.  Check signage for the correct sizes.  My store still had all three still in stock, but they also had the rain check tags up also.
• Seventh Generation Cleaning Spray - There is also a $1 Target coupon under the Baby tab. It will make it  $0.49 after manufacturer and Target coupons.  I'll included it in my match-ups. 
• Duracell Batteries - The packages have $20 worth  P&G coupons in them with an 8/31/12 expiration date.

Menu Plan Monday - Week of 12/6/10

It's going to be a busy week for our family.  I'm keeping the week night meals very easy with  a few backup ideas if they are even too time consuming to get on the table.   We will resort to frozen pizza, grilled cheese and canned soup or eggs, then. What are you backup meals when your plans fall apart?

Walgreens - FREE Hallmark Cards

At Walgreens this week, you can buy (2) $0.99 Hallmark cards and get a $2 Register back. 

This offer was advertised in the weekly ad, but when I got to the  store the signage said, "Buy 3 participating cards and get a $2 Register Rewards."   I gave it a try with (2) of the  $0.99 cards and it worked. 

There is quite a good selection of cards priced at $0.99 - birthday, thank you, sympathy and even single Christmas cards.

How Sales Tax is Calculated in Missouri When You Use Coupons

There has been quite a bit of discussion lately about how sales tax is calculated in Missouri when you use coupons, and which stores are not in compliance.

Missouri Code of State Regulations Chapter 103 clearly spells out in the section 12 CSR 10-103.555 that sales tax is calculated after coupons. 

From page 13
"When the seller accepts third party coupons, only the price paid by the purchaser is included in the gross receipts subject to tax."

The document also includes examples.

From pages 13 and 14.
"A grocery store accepts manufacturer’s coupons from its customers on purchases of various goods. The store sells aluminum foil for $1.50. The customer presents to the store a $.50 manufacturer’s coupon and pays the remaining balance of $1.00. The store submits the $.50 coupon to the manufacturer for payment of the $.50. The gross receipts from the sale of the aluminum foil are $1.00 and total taxable sales are $1.00. Tax should be charged on $1.00."

Remember: You want multiple coupons to use when a product is at a rock bottom price. When it's a good coupon insert week, I purchase 4 or 5 papers and sometimes acquire more. At first, I thought it was crazy to spend money to save money. But I've always saved much more than my investment.

Sam's Club is still selling the Sunday Post-Dispatch at a reduced price, $1.50. Dollar Tree and DEAL$ no longer sell the paper.

CVS - 30% off Update

I'm just back from CVS.  The 30% off offer for this weekend is for online orders only. 

Since 7 a.m. this morning, the graphic on CVS's website has changed.  It no longer includes the words "in-store." 

The manager I spoke with was unaware this info had been on CVS's website.  He told me some of CVS's best customers might have gotten a 30% discount card by mail, but he was unaware of a 30% off promotion for the general public. 

I feel for the employees and managers at CVS this weekend.  Someone at the corporate level messed up and the stores are going to have to deal with mistake.
