Saved 70% This Week

I was feeling a bit under the weather this week and had no energy.  I didn't get out to do much shopping.   In my former life (before couponing) this would have spelled disaster.

We wouldn't of had anything in the house to eat, resorted to carry out or deliver, or if one of us got  to the store it would have been grab whatever is quick and easy.  We would have spent a ton of extra money.

Now, I had my menu planned for the week - no shopping necessary.  I can still plan at least another week with what we have in the pantry or freezer.  Life goes on as usual.

CVS
I could have spent a little less out of pocket, if I would have split my shopping into two transactions, and spent my ECB from the Coke on the pizza.  But it would have left me with no ECB's.  It's too much fun to roll ECBs and spend very little if anything to start completely over.

Before sales & coupons: $52.91
Spent: $11.96 and $11 in ECBs
Saved: $40.95 for a 77% Savings and earned $5 ECB

Dierbergs
Before sales & coupons: $10.58
Spent: $2.88
Saved: $7.70 for a 73% savings

Aldi
Comparable Schnucks price: $33.70
Spent: $14.51
Saved: $19.19 for a 57% savings

Weekly Totals
Before sales & coupons: $97.19
Spent: $29.35
Saved: $67.84 for a 70% savings

Year to Date
Spent: $172.05 ($43 weekly average)
Saved: $450.05 ($113 weekly average)

Splurge Funds: $218.85

For those who don't read my blog on a regular basis, my splurge funds are the difference between what I've actually spent and my $50 budget. I use it for those items I never find on sale, don't have coupons for, or when I'm over budget.
