Saved 76% This Week

I had a busy week and didn't feel like shopping,  so I didn't - much.  With the grocery stores' ads running two weeks, I didn't feel like I had to run right out and get the deals.

Shop 'n Save
I made only one trip to Shop 'n Save on Thursday. Even though they had some great deals, I knew it would be a zoo.  I ran out in the morning to get my turkey and called it quits.  I knew I wouldn't have the patience to fight the crowds later in the day.

Before sales & coupons: $100.20
Spent: $23.24
Saved: $76.96 for a 77% savings

CVS
I'm loving CVS more and more each day. Since the store I shopped was out of the Vitality Toothbrush, the assistant manager substituted an Arm & Hammer Spinbrush, took my coupon for Vitality and I still got the $13 ECB.  And he suggested it!

Before sales & coupons: $31.99
Spent: $0.00 + $8 in ECBs
Saved: $31.99 for a 100% savings

Aldi
Comparable Schnuck price: $17.99
Spent: $12.13
Saved: $5.86 for a 33% saving

Weekly Totals
Before sales & coupons: $150.18
Spent: $35.37
Saved: $114.81 for a 76% savings

Year to Date Totals
Spent: $1,876.99 ($40 weekly average)
Saved: $6,740.26 ($143 weekly average)

Splurge Funds: $108.89

For those who don't read my blog on a regular basis, my splurge funds are the difference between what I've actually spent and my $50 budget. I use it for those items I never find on sale or that I don't have coupons for.

  1. Jeri - so far I have saved 55% of my projected budget - and that was a super low amount for the task: Thanksgiving Dinner for 200. (and my home groceries)

But Shop n Save was really well stocked Thursday early morning. I prayed for calm and focus before I went in. I had my coupons sorted and ready to adjust my lists as you suggested, and I did 3 trips in 2 1/2 hours. I did see where I could have saved more, and gave myself the slap on the wrist because if I had planned better, I would have saved even better on the non-perishables in previous weeks.

    BUT -
    My total bills were $315.XX
and after the coupons, discounted gift cards, and 1$10 off, I got a whoa-ton of stuff and Have spent $140.XX (plus I even got some stuff for my soldier's care packages!

Have I told you lately how much I love you?

I appreciate your help so much, and so will the homeless, the police/fire/EMS personnel and the others who don't have a place so spend Thanksgiving.
    You rock, Girlfriend!!!

  3. yep, at least 200. Praying God will work that "loaves and fishes" thing to make it all stretch farther if need be.
