My $50 Budget - Saved 62%

Here are my shopping trips for last week. There wasn't much on sale that interested me, but I still spend most of my budget.

This is "Reality Couponing.".  Some weeks there are great deals and other weeks not so much.

Sunday's Shopping:
  • Walgreens:  Aleve, South Beach Diet Bars & Walgreens Chocolate Covered Raisin as my filler items
  • Aldi:  Dairy, bread, ham (clearance priced) and produce

Wednesday Shopping :
  • Schnucks:  Not pictured is a bag of Navy Beans.  I had to run out mid-weed to pick them up to make Bean Soup.  It's been a long time since I've needed to run to the store for one item. Since I was at Schnucks I picked up the few other items on sale.

Weekly Totals
Before sales & coupon: $106.07
Spent:  $40.26
Saved: $65.79 for a 62% savings

Year To Date Totals
Before sales & coupons:  $399.29
Spent: $130.90
Saved: $268.39 for a  67% savings

Splurge Funds:  $18.80

My Splurge fund is the amount of money I haven't spent out of grocery budget.  I might spend it on groceries, or I might save it for a larger non-grocery purchase.

  1. Another slow week for me. Only got Dew at Wags and didnt go to CVS. Last night I got Tru Moo milk, Arnold Thin Buns and Ocean Spray at Dierbergs; cocoa packets, free Mello Yello, 2 free Kikkoman marinades, and 2 free Taco Bell seasoning packets at Schnucks; and free Keebler 100 calorie pretzels, leaf lettuce, cucumber, more Ocean Spray and Knorr broth at SNS. Total grocery OOP was under $10.

  2. I forgot I hit up Schnucks earlier in the week for free Sun Bird seasoning, lo mein (yummy!), tuna, Bear Creek coup, cottage cheese, milk, Easy Fries, onion and Barilla pasta. So my grocery total was around $25 after $15 in coupons and rebate for 60% savings (I count my savings from the register/sale prices, not regular prices).

    1. Hi CJ - If I have plenty at home, I like the slow weeks. Don't have to find the time to get to the store.

  3. I impressed with your deals/budget. I have started a goal/budget for this month. I already over majorly. So I figure I need to start stocking up my stockpile. And before I see improvement in monthly spending in will probably be a few months.

    1. Hi Frugal & Coupon Carzy - It takes a month or so to have enough stockpile to see good amount of savings.

Challenge yourself to come up with menu plans with what you alredy have in the panty & freezer. You'll be surprised how quickly you can decrease the amount of money you are spending each week.

  4. Thanks to all the great info contained on this site and some things I have learned on my own, I was able to skip grocery shopping except for just the most basic items-just milk really I think- from Thanksgiving thru the New Year! And my stockpile costs me on average 50-75% less than full retail. That's awesome!
