  1. Had a bad experience at SNS on Monday! Went to buy some Lloyd's that are on sale, not in ad, for $1. Matched with the $1 coupons, that makes them free! whoo! Usually I do self check out as it seems easier to use coupons even with the cashier having to come over and approve them, but they weren't open yet. The cashier told me that they could not accept the $1 coupons because they would make the Lloyds free, they would only redeem them for .50. I calmly stated that was not what their coupon policy stated. She still refused, so I told her I did not want the items. I went out to my car, pulled up the coupon policy, and went to customer service. The woman there called over the manager who questioned me for about 5 minutes before finally letting me use the coupons "where do you get these" "what you're just going to keep copying them and we're just going to be giving away product" "why is this one in color and this one isn't". I calmly explained coupons.com, the print limit, the copying a coupon is fraud, and that my phone prints in color but my computer lets me do black and white. I referred to their coupon policy multiple times. In the end, I got the product, but I am not sure shopping there is worth feeling like a criminal!!

    1. I'm sorry to hear of your trouble trying to use coupons. Good for you for standing your ground and pulling out the coupon policy.

If I were you, I would post this comment on their Facebook page and mention which store you shopped at.

    2. Which store did you shop? I would also call Corp talk to Val.

    3. I am very sorry to hear that you have had such difficulties. I hope that it gets rectified soon.

On a side note, What phone do you have? I am in the market for a new phone, and I would love to have one that I could print coupons from!

      TIA!

    4. All three of mu kids have iPhones and can print from them.

    5. Why do stores always say they're giving away product if it's a manufacturer's coupon? They get the money back plus postage/processing. A store coupon is clearly a different matter, and I understand the stores are worried about accepting a possible fraudulent internet coupon they won't be compensated for. But from the comments I've seen and heard from store management, there seems to be a widespread lack of education and/or common sense about coupon usage.

  2. I had this happen to me when the mac and cheese would be free with a cpn. I emailed corp and got a very nice response back. They also asked for the store because they were going to call and make sure they understood SNS cpn policies. I hope this wasn't the same store as the one I went to. It would be very disappointing! Which store was it?

  3. I know this is really limiting my savings, but i am scared to use internet coupons. Too many instances of being made to feel like a cheat! At some point I'm sure I'll give in, but for now I'll stick to my insert q's. I stopped shopping at wal-greens because it was such a hassle. No two stores followed the same policies. (CVS was always very nice wherever i went.)

  4. Essential Everyday Chicken Noodle and Tomato Soup are 20 for $10, so 50 cents each. Not sure why they didn't put it with the quarters deal....

  5. Hi all, wow thanks for the responses!! It was at the store on Lemay across from Aldi. I have used coupons there a ton of times at that location and had no problem at all. I have an iphone and an ipad and print from both of those, but they do print in color from my printer (that might be user error, ha). I've been pretty lucky that I have never had to deal with this sort of situation until now. Yes I agree there is for sure a lack of education on coupons. I let them know that they get money back, that there is a website they can go to so they can check to see if mine were frauds.... they were just focused on the fact that I was getting something for free. I mean really, if the item was priced at $1.01 and I used a $1 off coupon would that be ok using their incorrect logic?? Thanks for the support fellow couponers ;) -Samantha

  6. Stacy - For some reason I don't see your comment showing up in this post - but there is not mention of the 50% "rule" in their most current policy

  7. SNS used to be my favorite grocery store to shop at but I'm about done with them. I went early this morning with my small child and I only had 2 IPs and some other coupons, a few of which were instant off winetags. It probably took me just as long to check out as it did to shop. The cashier even had to go check with CS that the produce winetag could be used on a bag a salad. Funny thing is, I no questions were asked about the IPs (which were for baby food). It's truly sad when they question coupons that clearly state manuf. coupon and and not IPs. It will take a really good sale for me to shop at SNS again, it's just not worth my time and effort when Schnucks and Dierbergs can figure out that salad is produce without having to ask their CS desk. Sorry for the rant!

    1. Don't be sorry about a rant. I think we all understand your frustration.

I'm not so sure the cashiers at other stores are always better. I had a clerk tell me Salcisia was not sausage. I wanted to ask if she was new to town otherwise every St Louisan knows that is what Schnucks calls their Italian sausage.

  8. The Affton SnS had boneless skinless chicken breast for $2.49/pound and then marked $4 off! I bought the smallest packages I could to have the lowest per pound price. This was a manager special, so may not be at every store.
