Target Update - Frozen Food Giftcard Deal

Great news!  This week's  $5 Target Giftcard when you buy any (7) frozen food items, includes ALL Frozen Foods.   It's like taking $0.71 off every frozen food item you buy.

Check out Totally Target post for coupon match-ups, but be aware, unadvertised prices vary between stores.   If you find a great deal, please leave a comment.

NOTE:  If you're outside the St Louis region, make sure you check your Target ad. This offer is not running everywhere in the country.

Thanks, Melissa!

  2. I am itching to get to Target. LOL I can go till Wednesday!

  3. Hi Anne - Me too. I have visions of the freezer cases being wiped clean by the time I can get there. I hope not.

  4. Do you know if you can get more than one gift card in a transaction?

  5. Hi Anonymous - Melissa left this message over in the my Target Deals - Week of 2/20/11 post.

"Yes, the GC was issued automatically after 7 items. I (actually my hubby who was doing my dirty work while I looked for jeans) bought 14 in one transaction and was issued two; one each after each group of 7. Hope that helps."

  6. I was just at Brentwood and they had tons of stock.

    ReplyDelete
  7. I got 3 in one transaction. Gift Card glitch is still happening in Wentzville, so be sure you have some overage if you plan to do a deal that is a MM.

  8. Jeri, did you find any jeans for around $5? I have that coupon printed and plan to look when I go.

  9. Never enough room in my freezer for great deals like this :(

  10. This is when I love having my deep freezer....I just hope they have enough when I go tomorrow

  11. These are the times you wish you could just throw that deer meat out of the deep freeze. But alas the husband would not be happy about that. I guess moderation will be the name of the game this week.

  12. Hi JB - I haven't been to Target yet, I'm kind of jean picky, so hadn't planned on looking for myself.

  13. Shiloh IL target had TON of jeans for $4.98. My sister and I went there on the way to Kohl's Friday and found 2 pairs in her size. We didn't have to go to Kohl's after all =(

  14. I purchased 42 items and got 6 GC in one transaction. I felt like I was playing the slot machine as my cashier kept handing me GC's. Plenty of stock left at the Target in Bridgeton. My cashier even asked how I did what I did! Very, very fun day at Target! TYVM

  15. Just got back from Brentwood. They were out of Tony's pizza and were running very low on frozen veggies. I got 35 items for less than $5. Hopefully they will do a lot of restocking tonight. I also got 2 pairs of jeans that were $4.98. The coupon auto adjusted down. I could mainly find junior styles. I will definitely have to go back this week. Target hasn't had a deal like this in a long time. I love it!

  16. Just picked up 28 veggies (18 Birdseye, 2 Green Giant, and 8 Market Pantry), 15 Weight Watcher entrees, 5 Weight Watcher desserts, 4 Tony pizzas, 3 mini ice creams, 1 pink lemonade (clearanced), 6 banquet pot pies, and 1 TGIF mozzarella sticks (clearanced.)

    4 transactions, 63 items, $3.99 OOP - about $0.06 per item! :-)

I may have to go back later this week when my hubby gets back from his trip and I have access to another computer....hehe

This is my shopping for the week....doesn't look like the grocery stores are very exciting.

  17. So are the Smart Ones meals falling under the "Any" frozen items? I eat those a lot for my lunch and have a couple $3/10 peelies from previous purchases. And what is this jeans deal everyone is talking about?

Anonymous - I picked up 20 of the Smart Ones. There is a $5/10 Target q here: http://www.totallytarget.com/2011/02/20/frozen-food-heaven-at-target-deal-scenarios/comment-page-3/

  19. Hi All - I haven't been to Target yet, but might have to drop everything and run.

I would love to post picutres of readers shopping trips. If you take pics and send them to me I'll post them. But you do need thick skin. Sometimes comments can be very judgemental.

  21. I want to buy a deep freezer just for this deal!!! Has anyone tried this at the Dardeene Prairie store yet?

    ReplyDelete
  22. Anonymous, there is a $5 off Women's denim printable coupon on Target's website. There are a lot of jeans clearanced to $4.98, making them free.

  23. i did the jean deal.. and got 2 pairs for Free!

  24. I posted this in the other thread but went today and had problems. Picked up 5 burritos, one Tony's, and one ice cream (plus other items) no GC prompt. Manager was called over and she said it's only the ones on the ad page that are in the blue box (Smart Ones, etc.). Went to another store and was told the same thing (didn't try it). Anyone do it today and have no problems? Wondering if they changed it or if maybe one item I had didn't prompt. Very weird! Both people I talked to there said they've had no problems and it's been prompting right!

  25. Hi Julie - After I read your comment, I headed over to Hot Coupon World, A Full Cup and Totataly Target to see what was happening elsewhere. Out of everyting I read, only one women had the same thing happen to her.

I was going to Taret this afternoon. I quess we'll see what happens.

  26. Went to Dardenne Prairie today! MP frozen veggies are low in quantities, but I got three gc's (prompted by register after each 7 items scanned). No trouble with anything -- signs are everywhere that all frozen foods count.

And when I was in line, the gal behind me made a comment about all of the coupons I had... I am still very new to couponing, so that made my day! :) (I pointed her here for all the great advice and match-ups!).

    ReplyDelete
  27. Hi Dardenne Prairie shopper - I'm glad it's still working. Julie had me scared the deal might have been pulled.

Thanks for passing on info about Coupon STL.

    ReplyDelete
  28. My pleasure! The other funny thing at Target today was that I was almost run over at the Smart Ones freezer by someone else who was clearly couponing... More aggressive than anyone else I have seen (and there was plenty of stock)! I move so slowly matching up my coupons and checking expiration dates and quantities that no one fears me! :)

I also noticed that several cases had stock (end cap freezers as well as main aisle), so there are several places to look for inventory or flavors...

    ReplyDelete
  29. the cottleville target was out of most of the WW meals and MP frozen veggies, but said they get a truck soon. I was bummed a bit, 'cause it ain't easy taking the toddler to the store! : 0

    ReplyDelete
  30. Dardenne was the second store I went to where the work said it was only the ones on that page and they were marked on the shelves. URGH!! I didn't feel like loading up and trying it to be told no again. But will be heading over there later or tomorrow. I didn't see any signs other than the ones like under the pictured items (Smart Ones, etc.)

Oh, and also had two jean coupons in my order and the cashier made a big deal about the one coupon per transaction. She talked to another cashier and called over a young GSTL and after they talked he approved it. He kind of laughed at her for asking! LOL! Does anyone else have problems at that store with older ladies who read every coupon line?! She said something about getting them for free and the lady behind me laughed with me. Heaven forbid we get something for free. Then the cashier said, "Target is the only store I know who does this (referring to store coupons)." I informed her K does and she responded, "That's new this week" (not true at all) and that Walgreens does. I didn't feel like arguing anymore!

  31. Julie,

I have had more trouble at Dierberg's with coupons than at Target... And I've never found the special baby products coupon book at Walgreen's that I've seen mentioned here. It's a shame there is not more consistency! After all the clipping and planning, it is a bummer when it doesn't work right.

My frozen food purchases at Dardenne Prairie were 10 Smart Ones, 2 Green Giant Steamers, 4 MP veggies (stacked with the Target printable), one CPK pizza (with another mfr coupon), one Red Baron pizza (with another mfr coupon), and 3 Toaster Struedels (with a mfr coupon)... I didn't check to see if I only picked up advertised items, but I did see tags all over the place!

    Anyway, GOOD LUCK to you!!!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Thanks, Anonymous. I think I'll do mostly Smart Ones and add in a few veggies if they have them since those seem "safe" from what others have said also.

Don't shop at Dierberg's very often. Probably haven't been there in two years! :)

Has anyone gotten the Market Pantry (?) burritos or the Ben & Jerry's Cookie Dough single serve ice cream? One of those has to have been the problem. I know others have gotten the Tony's so that should have been fine.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Hi Julie - I love Dierbergs. Yes, they have a few quirky couponing rules (3 like), but I find deals there that no other store has. And they are such a nice store to shop at.

I haven't had problems. Well, maybe a few old bag cashiers (my age) that weren't as coupon friendly as they should have been. But, I avoid them.

I'm sorry to hear you haven't had the same expierence.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I just sent you a couple pics from what I got today...I feel good about the deals I got, but know it could of been better. Did anyone in STL get the little Skinny Cow Ice Creams & did they work with the buy 7? I was too chicken to try LOL

    ReplyDelete
  35. the little ben and jerry's worked in the deal for me...I bought one just to check but don't tell my hubby because I ate it on the way home! (hey, why do you think they come with a little spoon?!?!)

    ReplyDelete
  36. I had no problems at the Wentzville Target, purchased across the board, as many clnc and coupon items that I could. I did use the mini Ben and Jerry's- HUGE treat; little skinny cow, WW Smart ones (plenty of stock), archer farm and market pantry veggies, various pizza items, various TGIF items(free even before GC payback). I got all the GC I had expected. No cheap jeans in W'ville yet. The cashier told me it had been crazy all day, but they were restocking W and Sat. I hope to get the burritos and Minute Maid juices. If I still like my kids (touch and go somedays); I might do the ice cream thing again. They did have some Skinny Cow truffles ice cream in stock that I have a MF coupon for, but it still seemed high. These prices (with coupons) are pretty good for BOCA products (stack TGT and MF).

  37. Dont bother trying this deal at the Kirkwood Target. The store is still being remodeled, they only have a couple of small end cap freezers with about 10 Smart Ones and a few pizzas left.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Julie--
I've been to Dardenne Target 3 separate times and done 6 transactions and had no problems. I've bought all kinds of stuff including the 62 cent pot pies. I was a bit shocked because I will say that I have the most coupon problems at that Target out of everywhere I shop and find them not very accomadating. They were nice and friendly this time though. Hope that helps. Oh and they said today that they will be restocking the shelves so maybe by the end of the week. Hope that helps . . . .

    ReplyDelete
  39. Jen, thanks!! I did return there a few hours ago and got some Smart Ones and veggies. All the pot pies were wiped out!!! They had a ton when I was there this morning. The cheap veggies were all gone also. Happened to find some in another freezer case that someone put there! But my GCs prompted and everything went great! Still no idea what happened this morning and it drives me crazy that none of the workers (or manager) knows what's up. Not sure why I bothered asking! Glad to hear they are going to restock.

Both O'Fallon stores had clearanced jeans. Remember these run SUPER small. I needed two sizes bigger than my normal jeans and they are still snug. :(

  40. Does anyone know if the coupon that prints from Target's website has a unique code each time? They're only letting me print 1 BOCA coupon on this computer.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I could only print 1 coupon for the BOCA too not sure why

    ReplyDelete
  42. Hi All - Thanks, for the reports of what you're finding.

Little spoons with little Ben & Jerry's????? That sounds dangerous.

DJ - Do you have access to a second computer to print another coupon?

    ReplyDelete
  43. Julie and others - it has been reported that if you purchase 7 items that total less than $5 before coupons, the GC is not prompting at the register.
So - if you get 7 pot pies at .62 = 4.34 You have to get 2 more or get 6 and your 7th item be at least 1.28 for the GC to prompt.

Jeri - not only are the B&J ice creams so small, some of the space is for a spoon ; )

    ReplyDelete
  44. Not sure how much the burritos are, but that may have been the issue...

    ReplyDelete
  45. Andrea, no, the burritos were like .87 (or maybe .89) each. I had five of those, one $1 Tonys, and one Ben & Jerry's which was like .94 or around there. So over $5 for sure.

And my understanding is your 7 items have to be over $5. So you can't do say 7 pot pies and then a box of chicken wings to make sure you're over $5. Because the items are grouped in 7-item increments. So you'd need to do 6 pot pies and then the wings to make the 7 items and be over $5. Make sense?!

But I do know that rule and play accordingly.

  46. Hi Julie - I think you must have just had bad Coupon Karma the day nothing worked for you. At least, I know some days are like that for me.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Jeri, I can print it out from my school's computer(s). Luckily Target's site doesn't require a coupon plug-in! Do you know if Target will accept black and white coupons? I remember having issues in the past (store claiming Xerox) but with the increase of people owning monochrome printers and the ability to copy in color, I don't know if this is a concern anymore. Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  48. DJ - I print all my internet coupons, including Target's, in B&W and have never had a problem. Except at Petsmart when I had one color coupon and one B&W for the same items and the clerk said I must have copied the B&W one from the color. I set her straight :)

    ReplyDelete
  49. Hi DJ - I have set the default on our printer to print only in black & white.

Only once, with all the printable coupons I've used have I ever even had a comment from a cashier about it. I wanted to tell I can copy in color too! But, I bit my tongue.

  50. Does anyone know if the target in fenton or arnold is doing the deals the one in arnold said it was only the items pictured in the ad and not all frozen food like the ad says Was just curious what targets the deal is working at Thanks for your help

    ReplyDelete
  51. Thanks Jeri & CJ for the printing advice; I'm going to reset my home printer to b&w!

Anon, I was at Fenton today and it worked on Boca. They are not in the ad's photo. The gift card is automatically prompted so I assume Target's HQs must enter the sale in the registers; it shouldn't differ by store. But if it does (i.e., if Arnold Target is being a butthead), Fenton is doing the program right. I'm from Arnold but always go to Fenton for Target, Shop 'n Save, and Lowes.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Anonymous: Both the Fenton & Arnold are working & it's with anything in the freezer. I bought Tonys & smart ones at the Arnold one on Tuesday & TGI Fridays, Tonys, Tyson chicken, michelinas from Fenton & got all the gift cards I was supposed to get.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Got some ice cream today!! :) Most of the stores are doing good about restocking the freezers :)

    ReplyDelete
  54. Went to Target in Shiloh yesterday. They are doing the remodel too-- only 3 freezer cases. Most of anything that would have made a great deal was picked over. I got 4 bags of mixed veggies, a box of Eggo waffles and 2 pot pies. Not great, but not bad either. I might check in again tomorrow to see if they've restocked.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Hi Rachelstl - Thanks for the update about restocking

Hi Shiloh Shopper - Boy, that would be tough with only 3 freezer cases. But, I'm sure your store will be a lot nicer when they are done.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Wow! What a great Target week!!!! I had great timing today and walked into Dardenne Target when they were restocking all the freezer shelves. My week total is 105 frozen food items for $17.11 OOP. I'm exhausted! Too tired to even find my camera:) Hope everyone had as much fun as I did this week!

    ReplyDelete
  57. Jenn, thanks for the headsup!! Just returned there and got seven more things. My total so far is 49 items for $6.96 (that's including tax also).

Lady in front of me had five Smart Ones and a tub of ice cream!! URGH! I was hoping she had another frozen item in her cart but NOPE!

    ReplyDelete
  58. Julie, glad you could make another trip. That lady was probably what I used to do before discovering coupons. I missed out on many a good deal I'm sure. Enjoy all that food!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  59. Hi Jenn & Julie - Oh, that lady with the (6) frozen items would have been me a few years ago too.

I had a strange thing happen while checking out yesterday. There was no one in the fast lanes so a cashier called me over to check out there.

I don't like to check out in those lanes bacause I can't see the register screen. I can't tell how my coupons are ringing up or not. But, I was wanting to get out of the store.

On my first transaction, the cashier pulled out the giftcard, activiated it and then laid it on her register instead of handing it to me. I had to ask for it. At first, I assumed she didn't know what she was doing. But, now I'm wondering if she knew exactly what she was doing. (I hope I'm wrong with that)

I'm sure most people purchasing seven or more frozen food items have no idea the giftcard offering is going on.
