  1. Jeri Thanks SO MUCH for posting this! I usually make my own bulk sausage (when pork butt is on sale at $0.99/lb or less like it was several times this fall) so I frequently ignore those coupons. Not this week!! You are a blessing to so many of us!

    1. Hi Debra - Who cool you make your own sausage - I'm impressed. But, it's hard to pass up free.

    2. Thanks, Jeri, but it's VERY easy to make bulk sausage! I got a meat grinder at Costco a couple years ago. I use a recipe for "Jimmy Dean" sausage that I found online plus a couple recipes (andouille and Italian) from a low-sodium cookbook at the library. SO we get sausage for about $1/lb. and I know what goes into it (which is worth a LOT!) For the breakfast sausage I started adding a little liquid smoke (YUM). I use the sausage attachment to make long cylinders of ground meat then slice them into links. I bake them (350) until barely done them freeze 'em on trays (so they don't stick together) them put them in Ziptop freezer bags for delicious brown-n-serve sausages. You should give it a try!

    3. I have to buy one of those grinders first:) Do you grind your own burger too?

    4. I have ground my own burger a bit, but we don't eat a lot of beef. My dad hunts in Wyoming so we get "free range" red meat from him - elk, venison, antelope and sheep!

    5. Cool! I got an antelope once in Wyoming, but it was with the car and not a gun.
