Good trip to CVS today - Paid $1.86 for $11 worth and received a $2 ECB back, so essentially all for free :) Got overage on 3 free coupons and used a $3 CVS coupon from my email.
ReplyDeleteCVS is really beating Walgreens on deals lately. I went to CVS today and spent $1.35 oop used $13 in ECB's on $50 worth of items and got back $14 in ECB's. Got a great deal on the Vitamin Water and Smart Water. I had cpns for $2/5 when combined with the ECB it made the bottles .20 each.
DeleteWhat I notice is there are still good deals at Wags....and register rewards to roll every week....but often its on these obscure items that I don't use or need. Then I would have to also get fillers...no way.
DeleteI love CVS...I got $98 worth Sunday and spent 15 ECBs and 13 oop...but got back $33 in ECBs which makes it a money maker...all stuff we use on a daily basis...all one transaction. I used a stack of MQs and a stack of CVS Q's...some highlights on the CVS Qs were -$2/2 lotion, -$1 nivea mens face product, -$3/12 Nivea, -$4/12 cosmetics, -$10/50, -20%....all coupons went thru even with multilple -$/$ q's...
I started shopping at CVS 3/2012...now I get statements in the mail that tell me how much I saved between the dates of a year with CVS savings. It breaks all the catagories down, CVS sales, cvs coupons mailed, CVS coupon macheine, ECB, money off coupons....So this statment is how much I saved at CVS with CVS savings (not MQs..that is even MORE savings)....I saved $2,000+ in one year from CVS savings alone....I don't know how much that is with the MQs added into the mix. I rarely spend money oop there and when I do I get it back, often more in ECBs.
I work with people that just started couponing because of the Schnucks/Dierberg events...they keep saying there is no couponing in between. I gave them the blogs and told them, you have to go to other stores and go every week if there are deals posted....Hmmmmm....they still don't go anywhere else to coupon really. I think its a big loss not to go to CVS and Target too.
I do agree that Wags has had some deals but like you said they are for items that we don't need or use. I got all products that we need and or will use very soon..like sunscreen and toothbrushes. I don't get a statement in the mail, but on all my receipts there is info telling me my savings for today, my year to date and ECB rewards.
DeleteWhere is the $1/1 Physicians Formula Cosmetic Product coupon?
ReplyDeleteSorry about that. It was in 4/21/13 SS.
DeleteI can't even believe all the email coupons I've gotten from CVS this week... An extra $3 ecb, a $6 off $30 beauty and now a 25% off. Plus a $4/12 cosmetics from the coupon machine in store. I've couponed there for a long time and thought I had them figured out... but I'm not sure how to combine all these. I need makeup and there are a lot of ECB deals this week to combine to get to the $30. I think if there is a deal like $3/10 Covergirl I can still spend $10, use the 25% and really spend $7.50 (minus Manufacturer coupons) and still get the ECB. Does that sound right?
ReplyDeleteAnd can I spend $30, then present the $5/30 before the 25% and use both?
I have found you can use a x/xx and a % both. Your store may have different rules. The % will come off nonsale items. (This generally includes items with a price listed in the ad even if that is the shelf price.) The % will come off after the x amount is deducted. If you wanted to use the $6/$30 and $4/$12 in the same transaction, you would need to purchase $42 worth of merchandise. You get EBCs based on the price the scanner shows and the register prints. % and x/xx do not change that. That is good for the shopper! That is just one reason CVS is MUCH easier and MORE profitable that Walgreens.
DeleteHey Teresa, It seems confusing because they are soooo good about offering so many deals. What I do it is this....I use this blog...but for CVS there is a VERY LONG And all inclusive match up on Krazycouponlady.com that usually gets posted on Saturdays.
DeleteI go with the bottom line on the prices after coupons ....then I think about the other coupons I have...example, if I have a % off coupon I start including any deals that are $1 or less of items I want that are regular price....then if I have a -$/$....I start to look at those items and think...if its free after coupons that money goes towards this OTHER thing that is not free....if the item I want is on SALe and no included in the % off, then I'll consider it if AGAIN the bottom line is low enough to be covered by the additional coupon.
I simply copy and paste a list, cut and clip what I need, and I'm off. As a rule of thumb, if I'm keeping that very very low to free bottom line before those special CVS Qs, then I almost always come out with all free or even ahead at the end.
YOu'll get better and better as you go and it soon becomes almost conceptual to the point that you can pretty much make your plans work out without even having to calculate :)
HAVE FUN!
