But, I need to get out and shop some this weekend. I haven't bought pork steaks yet, and everyone who is from St Louis knows, you can't celebrate a summer holiday without pork steaks.
CVS
I love CVS. It was so fun to use my B1G1 coupons on the B1G1 Stayfree and M&M's sale without having the cashier even bat an eye. I still haven't reprogrammed my brain from shopping at Walgreens. Before sales & coupons: $35.28

Splurge Funds: $245.58
For those who don't read my blog on a regular basis, my splurge funds are the difference between what I've actually spent and my $50 budget. I use it for those items I never find on sale or that I don't have coupons for.
I got the 4 packages of Stayfree pads from CVS as well. I don't use this kind, so plan on donating them. Any recommendations on a shelter or pantry that would like them? I also have multiple bottles of mens' body wash and boxes of tampons. I live in the CWE so somewhere nearby would be nice. I'm sure there's plenty of places that need personal care items, I'm just newer to the area and not sure where to bring them.
ReplyDeleteHi Jennifer - Finding a convient place to make donations is important, or the "extras" just keep piling up.
ReplyDeleteCheck out this list of food pantries in the area:
http://hopeandhelpcenter.net/foodpantry.aspx
Hopefully, you can find one close to home and convient to donate to.
It is always comforting to see that others also donate to the local pantries. I now have 8 bags of feminine products to donate.
ReplyDeleteDonations do take a little bit of extra effort and time, but (at least to me!), it is difficult to pass up free and not consider paying forward to others less fortunate.
A look around and I am sure that many of us can count our blessings. PLUS, and I know from my own experience, taking time to donate to those less fortunate, is a wonderful example to our children. It really teaches them to focus outside of themselves~ hey, we are building a better world from home!!
Thanks, Jeri, for the website link to the food pantries.
When I was overstocked with meters, I gave a bunch to a women health agency on Lindell. Sorry, I can't recall the name; but it wasn't Planned Parenthood. There is also Salvation Army on Forest Park Parkway, which is located a few blocks west of Grand and on the north side of the street.
ReplyDeleteFor personal reasons, I donate most items to an agency/pantry ran out of a church in Bridgeton. The HBA stuff than goes to a woman shelter, elsewhere in the county.
I too have a lot of freebies ready to donate. Thanks for the food pantries list.
ReplyDeleteHi Denise, I agree donating your extra does take a little time and effort. I think once you find a place that is convient to home it doesn't seem so difficult.
ReplyDeleteHas anyone ever donated supplies to Feed My People on Kingston? Can you just walk in and drop items off when they are open?
ReplyDeleteYes, that is my "frequent donation spot"! Several times when I have had a bunch of new items (especially glucose monitors), I took them to the front of the building (as opposed to the back) as I didn't want them to get broken. The volunteers in the front were very gracious and accommodative.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Denise!
ReplyDeleteDenise - Thanks for the info. I'll pack up my goodies and stop by there next time I'm in the area.
