Menu Plan Monday - Week of 10/4/10
My neighbor has been telling me I need to try Pillsbury's Cinnamon French Toast Bake recipe. I have plenty of Pillsbury Cinnamon rolls I've picked up for free. In fact, I have enough Cinnamon rolls to keep her household and mine supplied for a long time. We might both be making this recipe on a regular basis.
Monday: Cinnamon French Toast Bake, orange juice
Tuesday: Spaghetti with meat sauce, green salad, garlic bread
Wednesday: Baked Potato Soup, fresh pears
Thursday: General Tso's Chicken, steamed rice, broccoli, pineapple
Friday: Grilled pork steak, fries, veggie, fruit
Saturday: Chili, cornbread
Sunday: Pork roast, baked potatoes, veggie, applesauce

Jeri, homemade chili or not? Do you add the produce items? I prefer the oyster crackers for soaking up the liquid.
ReplyDeleteHi Kas - Semi homemade.
ReplyDeleteI brown burger, sausage or both (depending on what I have) with onion and dump it into the cockpot with:
Red Gold Tomatoes w/ Chilies
Canned Chili Beans in sauce
Cumin, Chili pwd, & hot sauce to my taste (Hubby and boys would make it too spicy)
My mother always but V8 juice in her chili, and I like it that way, but my husband thinks chili should be eaten with a fork and not a spoon.
I'm sure you have some great ideas on how to cook chili?
Oh Oh, do you have a recipe for the Generals Chicken.. We love this when we go out for Chinese and I would love to make it at home.

Jeri, due to my father's palete, most dishes at home were really plain. I've come to like diced celery and green pepper cooked into chili. While diced jalapeños does add a kick, one pays a price the next day.
ReplyDeleteNow in regard to garnishment, not really for me. I skip the sour cream, diced green and yellow onions and grated cheddar cheese.
One way to eat chii with a fork is cooking up spag. Just ladle the chili over the noodles and save a trip to Steak 'n Shake.
We do traditional chili (and chili MAC) and we do turkey chili, where I add hominy, corn, black beans, onions, several cans of tomatoes - fire roasted are excellent; the secret is seasoning the ground turkey with cavenders Greek seasoning, plus traditional chili seasoning to your taste. It's what's for supper tonight!
ReplyDeleteWOO HOO!! A recipe for the cinnamon rolls. We will be having that this week now. You rock Jeri. Send me an email of your availability this week. I would love to get together.
ReplyDeleteHi Tiffany - No recipe for General Tso's. It's Kahiki brand out of the freezer case. They go on sale in St Louis somewhat often and you can pick them up for cheap with coupons.
ReplyDeleteI love General Tso's and Kahiki brand is great. Much cheaper than carry out and probably just as good.
Hi Kas & Leigh Anne - I love to hear how everyone makes chili. Everyone does it a little different.
ReplyDeleteHi Rhonda - My niehgbor says the Cinn. French Toasts is great. I'm just no looking at how many calories are in a serving.
I'll have to check out your French Toast Bake recipe. My family had Dream Dinner's version and fell in love with it.
