    1. Hi Elizabeth - Yes. Well, at least you did last week. The Balance Reward points you earn will show up on your receipt, so you can tell right away what you have earned.

  2. This morning I purchased 2 packs of pampers cruisers $20 & wipes for $5.99 also 2 of the pledge multi surface cleaners $7 and 9 tumblers. Used $3mfq for diapers, bogo for the pledge with $1 off 2 in Sept booklet & .75 tearpad from schuncks and 10rr. Making my total after coupons $15.01 & I got back a $5rr & 8000 in balance rewards pionts. Don't know why I got the extra 3000 points but this bumped me back up to 10000 points yay!!!!

    1. Hi Dani - Great shopping! I don't what those extra 3000 points would have came from either. Unlike RR, I've heard of shoppers getting extra points, but never shorted points.

Keep in mind when you go to use your 10,000 points, your transaction will need to be at least $10 or you will lose the extra point. Since your a diaper buyer, you probably won't have a problem coming up with a $10 transaction.

  3. I was really bummed when I realized today after speaking with a manager that the $30 had to be in one transaction! I had spent so much time coming up with transations yesterday to lower my OOP, and ended up having to do the transaction all together to get them...:( so warning, one transaction!

  4. Lesson learned the hard way... Don't ever let a manager give you a store credit for register rewards. You cannot earn any balance rewards if the store credit is used. I called to see why I didn't get my points and pretty much got too bad, so sad, sorry. I am out 10,000 points right now although supposedly they are checking with a "supervisor" to credit me 5,000 from my purchase.

    1. ouch. I've also had a bad balance rewards expericence based on a store employee giving me wrong info on how to use the program. The program is already a flop. The thing is....I'm so unhappy about it, that now when I need to shop for regular stuff....not couponing.....I'm choosing to shop at CVS or Target. I moved my prescriptions over to CVS....I think this is a big mistake that is going to make them loose alot of business. The whole problem with WAGS in the first place is that most of their stuff is incredibly over-priced if you are not couponing. My face wash that is $8 at WAGS is $4 at other stores....my face lotion that is $12 at WAGS is $9 at other stores....the list can go on and on and on. The only reason I paid their high prices on regular items I don't have coupons for, is because I had earned RRs that I don't want to roll on another item I had RRS for. NOW....there is nothing commiting me to buy their over priced items when I'm in need of something that I don't have Qs for.

  5. To those having trouble with the Balance Rewards based on employee information, I would definitely complain. It is always best to try to get it corrected right then. I ask to speak to a manager and explain my expectation and concern. They should correct it. Stay calm, but remember we often know more about this than employees do (even managers). If that did not work, I would call and complain at a higher level. The managers do have a card they can use to credit customers 500 points at a time, so this can be resolved.

I used to be shy about doing this. However, couponers bring business to a store and they should want our business. Plus when I do so, I know I help all couponers.

I am also moving prescriptions to CVS. It will be interesting to see what happens to Walgreens' profits as a result of this new program. After the Express Scripts fiasco I can't imagine things are going too well for them.

    1. I agree KC. I too used to not complain at a store, but couponing has taught me to have thick skin and a strong backbone.

I look at my "complaints" as education for the employees and managers. Almost no retailer educates their employees on coupon policy or usage. I've gotten to be quite good friends with managers/employees that I have educated on how coupons work and what is stated their store policies.

I will be interesting to see what happens with the new program.

On another note, if you have 5,000 points and spend them on a purchase of less than $5 you loose the extra points. What happens when you have something like 6,500 points? Is that sill worth only $5 and do you loose points if you purchase a $5 item?

    2. Jeri,

I have not spent points because I am trying to get to the larger amounts for better savings. However, it is my understanding you can only spend the amounts in your chart. Therefore, if you have 6500 points, you could only spend 5000 no matter what your total owed is. My favorite assistant manager told me even if your total is $1 the register will ask if you want to spend (waste) 5000 points for it.

    3. So, in the scenario we are talking about (starting with 6,500 points) if you buy $5 does only 5,000 points deduct from your account or do you loose the other 1,500?

    4. I did this today, it gives you a choice of the amount of points you want to use $5, 10, 20,etc. I choose $5 and only 5,000 pts came off.

    5. Well this is good news! I'll continue to save up my points then instead of using them every time I get up to 5000 points. Thanks!

    6. The last 2 transactions I've made were under $5 and even though I have over $5 in Balance Rewards the register didnt ask me if I wanted to spend $5. Maybe they've fixed it so it doesnt ask unless your total is over $5 so you dont lose points?

    7. I talked to my favorite Walgreens clerk today. She told me to expect some changes in the program, but she didn't know what they were. So, maybe they did already change that part.
