  1. I just got back from WAGS....I was all excited about my 5,000 bonus rewards points that were available to use. So thats another $5.00 :)....The transaction ended up being $3.22 left to pay after my RRs were deducted. I asked the cashier..."I have $5.00 in balance rewards available...can I pay for this and still use the remainder later?". He said yes.....So.....I paid for the transaction and it was $0 after using $3.22 out of my available $5 bonus rewards.

I decided I wanted to get more of the tumblers for my nieces halloween party...and went to the other wags that is on my route. I got 16 tumblers ....$2.00 with in ad Q and asked to have the rest of my balance rewards deducted from the total. There were no balance rewards showing to use.

I said forget it....and when I got in my car I looked at the receipt from my last transaction.... "Begining rewards: 5,000.....Closing rewards: 0.

Thats too bad. I assumed that it I earned the rewards and they are available to use....then I could use them. I did not think I had to use they all in the same transaction or loose them! Thats why I asked the casheir!....If anything I thought I was risking that if I only used part of the available rewards that I'd have to build it up to 5,000 points again before I could use any again.

This has really left a bad taste in my mouth. I used to shop at WAGS for other things between my couponing trips....just random things I needed that never go on sale...medicine...what have you. I also used to use their pharmacy.

I'm done. I'm a CVS girl now. Walgreens has lost my business EXCEPT for register reward items/rolling....which the most I will pay out of pocket for anything there will be $ pocket change.

Why would I mess with a program that says you have "earned" points....and they are "NOW AVAILABLE".....just to loose them if I don't use them all in one transaction. Now that I'm down to zero points....I'm not playing that game any more.

At CVS...I get rewarded for shopping there, its easy to coupon there...less restrictions...I mean, I get $1 xtra$ just for using a grean bag...$5 xtra bucks for every $50 spent on beauty (which counts the amt before Qs!)....and they have amazing customer service.

Sorry for the rant...but maybe it will help someone else actually be able to USE the balance points they have been told are available to them.

    1. I would be upset too about losing your unspent points - since you asked the cashier.

I haven't found this issue in print from Walgreens anywhere.

    2. Jess, before this Balance Rewards started here in St. Louis, someone at iheartwags left a comment that the same thing happened to her. Am sorry to learn that it was true based on your experience. Losing some of her earned points when she used it to pay for less than a $5 total amount, made me "not do" the ID gum deal last week. :( The last few weeks, I've been finding it hard to roll register rewards and maximize it's value. I would get some items free after RRs but I always have to preview the next couple of weeks ad to make sure there's something there I would need to use it on. Sometimes there won't be so I would end up just using the RRs on anything that I don't really need plus getting unnecessary filler items also if I have other coupons to use with them. I don't think anymore that I'm still doing great on the RR deals.

CVS' EB rewards are much better but the stores near me are just a bit farther for me to walk. Wish there's one just around the corner from our house. Plus my hubby drinks more milk than water. EBs would help pay for them even though their milk price is more expensive than Aldi. I just consider the price difference as a payment for the free or cheap items I got from the EB deals. :I

  2. True....now that I know, I have a different outlook on the program. I've cooled off a little now (only a couponer would get all worked up over $1.xx...Hahahaha). Like I said...I will still do the RRs as long as they continue. Even though the RR program has alot of hassles attached to using it...I've gotten a large portion of my stock pile from RR deals. RRs are hit and miss....some bad weeks and some real good weeks. When its an off week, I just spend them on my face lotion that is $12 and NEVER goes on sale.

If it was any other casheir that gave me the bad info...I may have called and talked to a manager. But this casheir is always nice to me when I'm there couponing, so I'm just chalking it up to a lesson learned.

    Jess

  3. when CVS started their ECB program, it seemed that it was more prohibitive than useful, so I steered clear.
I always got coupons for stuff I would never ever use (waste of paper), and the sales were for things I scarcely needed.

I think it took them a while to work out the bugs till it ended up being worth the trip. (i.e. the bag-tags). I have to go there now to get my prescriptions - Wags, not so much. Bummer when I can walk to my Wags as well. They lost hundreds per month from me when the Rx change went into effect...I am SURE they are going to work it out.... in a year or so ;-)
