  1. On the ground beef front, I've found $3.50/pound at DiGregorio on the HIll. Nice and fresh too. My friend found a chuck roast on sale at Schnucks for less than $3/lb and asked them to grind it at the butcher counter...gotta get creative these days!

    1. Hi Denise - We bought a side of beef last fall and and still have burger in the freezer. I've got sticker shock with the cost of burger at the store these days. I had better start saving up for the next side of beef - who know what they are charging now?

    2. Hi Jerry-Can you tell me where you bought the side of beef? I have been considering doing this but know absolutely nothing about it. Thanks in advance. Renee

    3. We split a side with a guy my husband worked with. The place he got it was in Macon, MO. I don't even know the name. Sorry.

  2. I usually find it not too bad at Shop N Save, once in a while. I try to match it with a Coupon Thursday to be honest. I also buy the bigger packs now and just split it into what is used in 1 meal.

    1. I have found AWESOME manager's specials on meat at Shop N Save. You have to go earlier in the morning, but I have not paid over $2.25/lb. for lean ground beef for awhile. I have just made it a habit to scan the freezer/fridge section everytime I am in there - they have big yellow signs above the specials.

    3. Andrea - That is a great price for burger.

How early is early? I've never seen "manager specials" at the store I shop.

    4. I usually find the Manager Special's on meat around 6AM, not much left after 7AM. I don't know about earlier than 6.

    5. Margaret - You are an early bird! No wonder I've never seen them.

  3. I usually go early for the manager's special meats on 10/50 Thurdays and stock up. Last week though they didn't put anything out so I asked and they said they were switching it up and putting it out in the afternoon sometimes now... GRRR! We're down to our last pound and I refuse to pay $4+ a pound. We only use the extra lean. That was at Twin Oaks, so I'll try another SNS next time. I've found it depends on the store how early they put it out. Twin Oaks used to put them out around 7:30, but other stores are a bit earlier.
