Aldi Price Check - Pumpkins, Pineapple, Eggs +More

October 11, 2009

At the Aldi's I as at on Sunday, the pumpkin bin was getting low. I hope they have more in the back room. They are large, nice looking pumpkins. Sure, the pumpkin patch might be more fun, but you can't beat the Aldi price or convenience.

My favorite deals: Pumpkins - $1.99, Pineapples - $1.19 and Eggs - .79

If you haven't shopped at Aldi, or it has been a while:1. Make sure you have a quarter to unlock a shopping cart. The carts are like luggage carts at the airport. You rent them for a quarter, and you get your quarter back when you return the cart.
2. Take your own bags. Aldi does not provide free bags for your groceries.
3. Aldis now accepts debit cards.
4. Aldis does not accept coupons.

  1. Do you know how much pumpkin you get out of a whole pumpkin as compared to buying it already canned? I'm just curious to know if it's worth the extra work of buying it whole. :)

  2. I've never done anything with a pumpkin except carve it. But Nancy has. She told me she bought several Aldi's pumpkins - Some to carve some to eat.

Nancy, are you reading and can you help Courtney out?

  3. I am not sure about the amount you get, fresh verses condensed, but the taste is wonderful. I have made pies out of fresh pumpkins, they turn out a lighter color but the taste was definitely worth it. The microwave makes it much easier to cook down. I eat it like squash as well. Spinkle nutmeg, brown sugar, and cinnamon on steamed pumpkin with a little butter. Delicious for squash lovers. Nancy

  4. Thanks, Nancy! Your information makes me think I should give it a try. And I don't even like pumpkin.
