I did get in a little of the Catalina deal this week, so I have a $3 Catalina for next week's shopping. I couldn't resist the hand warmers on sale. I'm sending them to my oldest son in Minneapolis; it's his first year in the Great White North. He still has no idea how cold it will get. Before coupons & sales: $15.99

I use the smoked sausage in Jambalya. I use the Zatarains mix. Also, I grill and baste with BBQ sauce and serve with Mac and Cheese.
ReplyDeleteMy mom always split the smoke sausage in 2-3 inch intervals, then lengthwise and fried in the pan. I now do the same, but add sauerkraut after it's browned. It's delicious with potatoes sauted in olive oil. It's a favorite with my husband and my 1-year old! Kelly
ReplyDeleteYou must have had some killer meat coupons for that trip to Schnucks cost you only $6. Or are you subtracting the catalinas you got from your total to reflect those savings?
ReplyDeleteI second using the smoked sausage in jambalaya, either a prepackaged like the Zatarains or just red beans and rice with onion and sweet pepper works. I also like to throw it into the scalloped potatoes from Betty Crocker. I know I have ridiculously huge stockpile of those, so I make this when I'm running low on other ingredients and need to get to the store soon.
I went to SnS on thursday and had a horrible time trying to get my $3 catalina coupon. There was also an offer buy 20 yoplait, get $2 off next purchse. Neither coupon printed at checkout, so we had to go up to the CS counter and deal with the clueless ladies. (St charles location) I fought with them about the catalina deal. The lady said only the items in the top box counted, thus why my coup didnt print. (I bought 2 eggo waffles, 2 eggo bakeshop, and 3 birds eye steamfresh, which were all pictured on that page but not in the first box.) I asked for the manager and before I told him our situation I just asked what was included and he flat out said the WHOLE page. Two of the women at the counter had told me just the top box. So instead of printing a 3 coup.. because this lady had NO idea how to.. she just gave me $3 back in cash and also $2 back in cash for the yoplaits. SnS is getting deceiving with their ads recently. I've been having to go up to the counter for my coups too often recently.
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone for the smoked sausage suggestions. My husband would love jambalaya I would love saurerkraut, but I'll probably have to go with potatoes to please everyone.
ReplyDeleteRachel - I had a $2 wine tag for meat, $4 in Catalinas from last week and quite a few $1 Pillsbury coupons. I did several transactions, paying almost nothing for the Pillsbury rolls and getting back Catalinas. It was one of those weeks where the stars(cats) aligned.
ReplyDeleteSara - Many readers I've heard from and myself didn't get their Cat at the check out lane. My experience was much like yours at Customer Service. It took me at least 20 in line and talking to the assistant store director to finally get my $3.
ReplyDeleteI don't think SNS is deceiving - just clueless. They don't get the computers programed correctly, don't advertise Cats clearly, and don't communicate to the indivuidual stores/employess what is actually going on.
I too skipped $10 Thurs at SNS, just didnt feel like shopping after dealing with the rain all day at work. And I decided I didnt really need any of the items in the catalina deal. But had a great trip at Schnucks on Fri to make up for it. Finally found some $1 Pillsbury crescent IPs but Schnucks was sold out of the $1 size. I didnt think to ask for a raincheck :( Found Pepperidge Farms cheese crisps with TMF rebate peelie on it at the Kirkwood Schnucks :) Kuddos to cashier Sharon, the register was being very cranky with my coups and she was very patient.
ReplyDeleteThe Twin Oaks SNS was very helpful (and empty because of the game/rain/evening hour that I went.) I spent $28 in my first $50 transaction, received $12 in Cats. Spent $10 in my second trasaction, spending Qs and Cats. Also, used a $5 off $50 on both transactions (Q is from the 2008 entertainment book and they expire at the end of this month.)
ReplyDeleteI'll have to look back to see what I missed at Schnucks on the Pillsbury deal.
LAB - Thanks for sharing your shopping trip. I love to hear how other people did.
