If you haven't shopped at Aldi, or it has been a while:
1. Make sure you have a quarter to unlock a shopping cart. The carts are like luggage carts at the airport. You rent them for a quarter, and you get your quarter back when you return the cart.
2. Take your own bags. Aldi does not provide free bags for your groceries.
3. Aldis now accepts debit cards.
4. Aldis does not accept coupons

  1. I agree about the produce prices--my bill was about $15 higher this week and it was all produce and eggs!

  2. I've also noticed the creep of prices on things other than produce at Aldi's. Still cheaper than the regular stores (unless the others have a sale plus coupons). And for the eggs, they are all over on their prices. Heading out to IGA later to pick up some for $1/doz.

  3. I bought frozen chicken tenderloins and frozen talapia at Aldi last week and I think the packages are smaller than they use to be, while the price is the same. Anyone else notice this?

  4. Hi Kelly, Kelly and CJ

I have a feeling prices are increasing everywhere. I think store will still have their few items at a really good price, but overall increases on shelf prices.

  5. I asked one of the workers at my Aldi. She said that they try to get close to the prices in the area. They have an especially difficult time when there is a super Walmart in the area. I noticed that some of the prices you had listed last week were considerably lower than in the store for my area.

  6. Hi Nancy - I shop at the Aldi at Gravois & Kingshighway. No Super Walmart close. In fact, they aren't located very close to any other grocery store that I can think of. There is a produce store in Bevo, maybe that is what they are price matching.

Are the prices I list that much different for everyone and do I need to price check at a different store?

  7. Jeri,
I know the Fenton aldi has the same milk, pineapple, and carrot pricing. Some items, lke the strawberries they didn't have. Speaking of carrots, do those baby carrots freeze well or do they dry out? I was thinking of stocking up.

  8. Jeri - the prices you list are always close to the prices at the Maplewood Aldi.
Natalie - I freeze baby carrots by cooking them halfway and freezing in a plastic container. They always freeze well and taste good.

  9. Hi Natalie - Thanks for the pircing info. I was excited to see strawberries, but after paying 99 cents for them last summer, there is no way I was going to pay over $3 for them.

Whenever you are wondering if you can freeze something and how to do it, check out Still Tasty.com. It is my new go to guide for how long to keep things.

  10. Hi CJ - It sounds like the store I shop is ok when it comes to price comparasions, or at least close.

Thanks for sharing you carrot freezing experience.
