Saved 77% This Week

I usually bury my Aldi purchase at the end of my post, but not this week. I had to give Aldi top billing because it is the only healthy food I bought. I'll give myself some slack - it is Super Bowl week and it's the best time of year for snacks.

And, I finally spent some splurge money. I've budgeted this year for things that I don't find on sale, but I'm finding it hard to spend that part of my budget.

Aldi
This is as healthy as it gets this week, even though I bought butter and 1/2 & 1/2.

Comparable Schnucks price: $25.74
Total spent: $12.18
Total saved: $13.56 for 53%

Walgreens
All month long I've resisted the Tostitos deal, but I finally received my coupon for a free bag of Stacy Pita chips and with the extra $5 Register Reward today, I could resisted no longer. I started today with $8 in Register Rewards and now have $17 and only spent $4 out of pocket.

I hear from so many readers the difficulties they have shopping at Walgreens, but when it works, it really works.

Before sales & coupons: $77.08
Total spent: $3.99
Total saved: $73.09 for 95%

Schnucks
Between last week and this week, I should be plenty stocked up on Ziploc bags. A few times a year Schnucks has an easy money-making deal. I'm still using the BBQ sauce and mayo from last spring's deal. I hope the Ziplocs last as long.

Before sales & coupons: $43.81
Total spent: $7.06
Total saved: $36.75 for 84%

Dierbergs
I buy a lot more dip than I ever buy potato chips. I like to use it instead of sour cream on my baked potatoes.

Before coupons & sales: $35.28
Total spent: $11.85
Total saved: $23.43 for 66%

CVS
The truck for CVS comes in on Thursday. Since I'm not a first thing Sunday shopper, I've found they tend to have restocked by Friday.

Before sales and coupons: $10.98
Total spent: $2.48
Total saved: $8.50 for 77%

Target
I bought DiGirono as a back up for my homemade pizza this week, and am glad to say I didn't have to use it. The homemade pizza was quite good, but I still need some frozen pizza in the freezer for those "no time to eat" let alone cook nights.

Before coupon & sales: $22.38
Totals spent: $11.88
Total saved: $10.50 for 47%

My Splurge
Parmesan Encrusted Catfish from Dierbergs - $7.98

Weekly Totals
Before sales & coupon $215.27
Total spent: $49.44
Total saved: $165.83 for 77 %
+ a $7.98 splurge

Year to Date Totals
Spent: $207.95 ($42 weekly average)
Saved: $688.95 ($138 weekly average)

Splurge Funds: $42.05

For those who don't read my blog on a regular basis, my splurge funds are the difference between what I've actually spent and my $50 budget. They are for those items I never find on sale or that I don't have coupons for.
