I've certainly bought my fair share of Pop-Tarts and Fruit Roll Ups, but I do think about healthier alternatives. I was excited when Jennifer, a reader, contacted me about her new blog, Healthy Life Deals.
I've always wanted to incorporate healthier alternatives into my blog, but I just haven't been able to find the time. Now, with Jennifer's help I'm going to include Whole Foods in my weekly posts.
I'll let Jennifer introduce herself:
Hello Fellow CouponSTL Fans-
My name is Jennifer and I’m a 37yr old unemployed nanny. Finding Jeri’s blog has turned me into a coupon addict. My husband is embarrassed to walk into the store with me and my coupon binder- hee hee. I am sure most of you can relate that it is painful to think of paying full price for anything. I have days when I can’t bare to pay more than 10% of the regular price for anything. Then one day I realized that I was buying a lot of processed food- I got most of them for free or a pennies but they were mostly processed unhealthy items. Looking at my storage shelf filled with 23 boxes of pop tarts, 18 bags chips, and more Hershey Special Dark bars than I could count-OOPS. I realized I needed to live healthier but could I afford it??
It was then that I decided to prove people wrong (including myself) that you can live a healthy life on a TIGHT budget. I decided to try out Whole Foods at one point nicknamed “Whole Paycheck” and figure out a way to shop there without spending my “Whole Paycheck”. I was thrilled to find that there are a TON of healthy deals to be had. Jeri will start posting my weekly list for Whole Foods from my Healthy Life Deals blog. Which is full of freebies, giveaways, printable coupons, etc. focused mainly on encouraging a healthier life? Hope you check it out and enjoy it. Questions and Comments are welcomed. Thank you Jeri for this opportunity!
Jennifer, where did you find the free chips? I must have missed that deal.

I'm really excited for this! I do shop at WF, but it gets sooo expensive to buy more than a few items. I make the rounds at several other grocery stores, mainly ALDI and Schnucks. I've been following your blog for a long time, but haven't commented until now. Thanks so much for all your posts and hard work! :)
ReplyDeleteI am so proud of my little sister Jen. I used coupons sometimes when I grocery shopped, but a couple years ago she got me addicted to using coupons. Now we share info back and forth. Jens site is worth visiting and you can tell she loves a deal, especially when its free.
ReplyDeleteThis is great! I started couponing last summer, and my kids were ecstatic because all of a sudden we had tons of "fun food". With some of it, it worked out well, they learned some moderation, but it seems we just can't have soda in the house (I tried with the SNS deal last week) without some of us going overboard. We've been slowly working ourselves back to a reasonable balance. It's hard to pass up some of the great deals, but I'm looking forward to reading this info. Thanks so much to both of you. Trish in Wentzville
ReplyDeleteThanks Guys!! I am so excited to share this with you all. It is great to know that you are looking forward to it.
ReplyDeleteWoohoo!!!! Enough said!

Thanks Jeri, thru u I learned to use coupons to get maximum value out of them & now thanks for including whole foods into your posts....as I'm a big fan/user of natural & organic stuff & it's really hard on pocket sometime but it's our choice for healthy lifestyle...i'll be looking forward for these posts....
ReplyDeleteYes another way to save money on healthy food. I did have to laugh though because the post before this one is for free donuts. Gotta love it!!
ReplyDeleteI'm excited about incorporating more healhty deals in my blog also.
ReplyDeleteI love Whole Foods. I used to go there more often when I worked in Clayton. I should go there regularly b/c of my son's food allergies. SNS and Aldi aren't great if you have a kid that's allergic to everything! Thanks for the new addition!
ReplyDeleteMarcella - Have you heard of Angel Food Ministries? You can google it. It is a low-cost, high-volume, food distribution program. Our Church is a host location - that is how I know about it. It is open to EVERYONE (not just low-income) they do accept food stamps too.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, they offer an Allergy-Free Box of food monthly for $23. We have a woman that has two kids with food allergies - she gets 2 boxes every month and swears by it. She doesn't have to read labels and hunt for the things they can eat.

Holy smokes! Thank you for this. I've been trying to do the matchups for WF myself, but it's just one more thing I haven't had time to add to my plate.
