Another easy summer menu at our house.
Thank goodness my family never tires of dinner off the grill. I don't like to spend the time to cook or put extra heat in the house in the summer.
Monday: BLT's, green salad, peaches
Tuesday: Grilled hamburgers, celery stick with dip, peaches
Wednesday: Grilled chicken breasts, garlic mashed potatoes, veggie, pineapple
Thursday: Bratwurst, cole slaw, fresh fruit
Friday: General Tso's Chicken, steamed rice, broccoli, egg rolls
Saturday: Pork steak, baked beans, fresh fruit
Sunday: Grilled chicken margarita pizzas, fresh fruit

I've always wanted to try my hand at grilling pizzas....what a clever twist with using tortillas! Have you ever tried it with a regular pizza crust?
ReplyDeleteHi ahorne - We grill frozen pizzas with good results. A gas grill makes it quick. Turn one half of the grill on, put you frozen pizza on the other half and shut the lid.
ReplyDeleteI've never tried it with homemade crust.
Jeri,
ReplyDeleteI read your posts all the time. My favorite is seeing what you bought and how much you spent. I have one question. I have been couponing for over a year now and can pretty much stay on budget until it comes to buying meat. What's your trick and do you have any advice? It is only my husband and myself, with occasional kids and grand kids.
I've grilled papa murphy's pizzas- close enough to homemade crust, IMO. I do leave those pizzas on the paper trays they come on and then put them on a metal tray on top of the gas grill...I turn off the center burners and leave the outside ones on and spin the pizza frequently.
ReplyDeleteMy oven isnt working and I dont have a grill, but I have a coupon for a free DiGiorno that I dont want to waste. I'm thinking of defrosting the pizza all the way and then cooking it on the stovetop on a griddle. Anyone ever tried that and how did it work?
ReplyDeleteHi Allison - Meat is the hardest deal to find. I try to stay at $2 of less per pound and stock up some when it's this price. The only freezer I have is with my fridge.
ReplyDeleteChicken is always on sale and can find boneless, skinless breast for this $1.99. Other cuts for less.
Pork is less often at this price. I'll buy a whold pork loin when it's $1.99 and have the butcher slice it into chops. When baby back ribs get to $2.99 I'll buy them.
Beef is getting much harder to find for $2 or less. I try to wait until I can find burger for $1.99.
I think meat prices have been creeping up lately. At least, I'm seeing fewer prices under $2. I might have to upper my buy price.
Hi CJ - Is your DiGiono Pizza that little Deep Dish? If it is, I think that can go in the microwave.
ReplyDeleteIf it's a regular sized pizza, I think I would invite myself to a friends house and tell them you'll bring the pizza.
Jeri - Yeah it was the little deep dish, it turned out good in the microwave and then I crisped the crust up a bit in a fry pan. I think when I get a hankering for pizza I'll just go pick one up from Pizza Hut!
