Walgreens $5 Scenario - Week of 8/22/10

The most cost effective way to shop at Walgreens is to roll your Register Rewards from week to week.

If you are following my Walgreens $5 Scenarios, you have a $1 and a $2 P&G Register Reward from last week to start with.

Many of the RR deals this week are also P&G deals. Sometimes, it works to roll RR from the same manufacturer, but I never try it. Better safe than sorry is my philosophy.

Check out all of this week's Walgreens deals HERE.

Transaction #1
purchase:
(2) Kellogg's Froot Loops, Apple Jacks or Corn Pops $5.00
(1) Listerine Zero $2.99
(2) Penway Memo Books @ $0.99 = $1.98 (needed as filler to use last week's RR)

use:
Kellogg's Froot Loops, Apple Jacks or Corn Pops printable coupon -$1.50
Listerine printable coupon -$2.00
Walgreens in-ad coupon for Listerine -$1.00
Walgreens in-ad coupon for Memo Books -$1.64
P&G Register Reward from last week -$2.00
P&G Register Reward from last week -$1.00
= $0.83 + tax out of pocket and get a $2 Kellogg's Register Reward

Transaction#2
purchase:
(2)Oral-B Advantage 3D White Toothbrush $6.00
(1) Crest 3D White or Vivid White Toothpaste $3.00
(1) Listerine Zero $2.99
(1) Penway Memo Books $0.99

use:
B1G1 Oral B Toothbrush coupon (8/25/10 RP) -$3.00
Crest coupon (8/1/10 P&G) -$0.75
Listerine printable coupon -$2.00
Walgreens in-ad coupon for Listerine -$1.00
Walgreens in-ad coupon for Memo Books -$0.82
Kellogg's Register Reward from 1st Transaction -$2.00
= $3.41 + tax out of pocket and get a $4 Register Reward to use next week

Total retail before sales & coupons: $32.80
Total out of pocket: $4.24 + tax for a 87% savings
And have a $4 P&G Register Reward to start next week

If you didn't have the $3 in Register Rewards to start with, you still will only spend $7.24 for this scenario for a 78% savings.

Note: If you have a coupon friendly Walgreens to shop at, also use the .75 Oral-B coupon (8/1/10 P&G) in the 2nd transaction.
