CVS $5 Scenario - Week of 9/19/10

If you're a newbie to CVS shopping, retrain your brain from Walgreens. CVS is much easier to shop at and roll ECBs. Here is a scenario that can get you started.

Remember, if CVS is out of stock on an item, ask for a raincheck. You still get ECBs with a raincheck.

Transaction #1
purchase:
(2) Right Guard Total Defense @ $2.99 = $5.98
use:
(2) $1.50 Right Guard coupon -$3.00
= $2.98 + tax out of pocket and get a $4 ECB

Transaction #2
purchase:
(1) Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick $6.99
use:
(1) Revlon Super Lustrous coupon -$2.00
ECB from previous transaction -$4.00
= $0.99 + tax out of pocket and get a $5 ECB

Transaction #3
purchase:
(1) Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick $6.99
use:
(1) Revlon Super Lustrous coupon -$2.00
ECB from previous transaction -$5.00 (cashier will reduce ECB)
= $0.00 + tax out of pocket (if you're taxed in your state on coupons) and get a $5 ECB

Transaction #4
purchase:
(2) Quaker Oatmeals $5.00
(1) Schick Hydro Shave Gel $2.79
(1) Soft Scrub Total $1.99
use:
(2) $1 Quaker coupons (9/12/10 RP) -$2.00
(1) Schick coupon (8/8/10 SS) -$1.00
(2) Soft Scrub Total coupon (9/19/10 RP) -$1.00
ECB from previous transaction -$5.00
= $0.78 + tax out of pocket and get a $2 and a $1.80 ECB

Items purchase
(2) Deodorants
(2) Lipsticks
(2) Oatmeals
(1) Shave cream
(1) Cleaner

Retail before sales & coupons: $39.03
Total our of pocket: $4.75 + tax for a 98% savings
And a $3.80 in ECBs to use within the next month

  1. Sorry, I think you forgot to put the ECB in transaction #4, otherwise the total doesn't come out right. Thanks for doing this, it makes going to CVS much more enjoyable.

  3. Don't forget the red machine is printing out a bunch of coupons. They have to be used the day it prints.

    Don't forget to scan your card more than once. I did again today and got 2 additional coupons on my 2nd swipe of my card.

  6. HAS ANYONE TRIED THE REVLON OFFER? I WAS AT CVS TODAY AND THERE WAS O SALE LISTED IN THE AD FOR REVLON AND ON THE SHELF THEY WERE MARKED $8.99. THANKS

  7. Hi Elizabeth - The Revolon offer is working. Some stores are better at putting up the sale tags than others, but you can always take the product to the Magic Coupon Machine/price scanner and check to see if the product your picking up is included in the sale.

    Also, be on the lookout for $2 peelies on some of the lipsticks.
