Thanks, Amy at
Saving in St Louis!
I'd love to get a new subscription and a gift card. But whenever I inquire about cancelling my current subscription ($1.68 per week) I'm told I'd have to wait 6 months before I could be considered a "new" subscriber again.
ReplyDeleteCJ - couldn't you just use a different name for a new subscription?
ReplyDeleteSo basically it's .22 cents per paper for 52 weeks if you take the gift card & apply it towards the $51.48...am I seeing this right? So, I guess I should do this just making sure that's correct. Thanks :)
ReplyDeleteIs there any additional charge for home delivery? Their fine print always throws me for a loop and I can't figure out if the home delivery charge is extra, or if I could pick up the paper and save even more!
ReplyDeleteIt says you can pick it up to avoid delivery costs, but where would you pick it up? How much are delivery costs? TIA
ReplyDeleteI learned from a previous screwy P-D contest that there is a branch location off Kinghighway, just north of I-44. From rolling papers decades ago, a branch could be still off Church St. in Ferguson. Those were the days when Sunday papers were threw together by hand and not some labor saving machine.
ReplyDeleteAccording to the fine print, delivery costs are $.19 per daily (Mon-Sat) and $.51 per Sunday. I quit my last two subscriptions because when I called for a paper replacement usually none was brought out. Then a customer service rep told me I never received credit for my stolen paper.
$.99 + .51 = $1.50 * 52 = $78 - 40 = $38/52
ReplyDelete$1.37 per Sunday plus tax on either $78 or $38 IMHO the tax should be on the $38
Sorry I got my math backward
ReplyDelete$38/52 = $.70 per Sunday
I spoke to someone at the Post-Dispatch, the delivery is included in the $.99 offer, so $.99/week is all you pay. But they also tell me you have to be a new subscriber.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the deal info. I have been waiting I have been waiting for a deal. I paid 51.48 for 52 weeks. 0.22 per copy!after the gift card. We will see how it goes.
ReplyDeleteI also subscribed. Can't resist the price after GC. Hope that charge on my card is exactly $51.48. And also hoping that I receive all Sunday papers with ALL coupon inserts. And gotta remember to UNSUBSCRIBE by Dec. 2011. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot for the info, everyone.
So, will they deliver 2 papers to one address if 2 people subscribe at that address?
ReplyDeleteSo if i am just subscribing to the Sunday paper I should get the coupons in there on Sunday, right?
ReplyDeleteI get my coupons on Saturday, and the rest of the paper on Sunday. Seems like a waste of time and money that they do the ads and coupons separate from the rest of the paper, but whatever.
ReplyDeleteThey have to do the paper and coupons separate because the coupons are zoned by zip code and prepared week in advance of the thrown date. They couldn't print the paper a week in advance so it must be thrown separately
ReplyDeleteJust subscribed :) I hope I don't get a charge more than $51.48! I have been using everyone else's coupons from the paper now I will be able to contribute to my savings as well..LOL besides my journal coupons. Thanks for the heads up about the offer!!
ReplyDeleteOur Sunday paper comes all together with ads and paper on Sunday
ReplyDeleteI think it depends where you live
thanks for this - I also subscribed :)
