CVS $5 Scenario - Week of 2/20/11

You can save a ton of money at CVS rolling ECBs.  If you are following my CVS $5 Scenarios, you have a $3 ECB to start this week's shopping.

Remember, if CVS is out of stock on an item, ask for a raincheck. You still get ECBs with a raincheck.

Take a look more CVS deals HERE.

This is a fun scenario.  You can take home bags of merchandise and only spend your pocket change. Keep in mind the Cadbury ECB deal is good through Tuesday only.

(1) Cadbury Egg $0.75

Last week, an assistant manager told me that they are no longer allowed to reduce the price of ecb. All cashier's had to sign a promise not to. Don't know if this is just a fluke store or really enforced company-wide. I was only going to "lose" $0.01, but wound up having to save my ecb for later.

  2. Just an FYI --- Yesterday, Saturday, the deals for the coming week were not yet in the system. I went at 6:30pm to a 24 hr. store at Gravois cor Hampton. I tried it and ended up spending $5.68 (EBs and cash) for (2) bags of candies,(8) bars of Snickers and (4) 6 oz Colgate toothpaste which I was hoping I would get paid with EBs in taking out of the store. :( Expensive way to learn the lesson. I was about to suspend the order but cashiers' attitude stop me from doing so. Hubby told me that we still got them cheap. Ughs! Gotta spend once in awhile, I think. But it kind of hurts that I have to spend on stuff that I usually get for Free. Oh well, the price for taking the risk. :I

  3. Hi Kelly in West County - Hmmm, I haven't heard taht one. Let me see what I can find out today at the store I shop.

Hi Coupon.girl - I've heard of people around the country shopping on Saturday and getting the next week's deals, but I've never tried it. Thanks, for giving it a test and letting us all know what happened.

  4. I think it varies by store when they activate the next week's deals. I was told in Swansea, Il they activate them early Saturday morning. I frequently take advantage of this when there I get an email coupon for $x off $y. Usually I can get everything back in ECBs so I don't mind spending that much out of pocket.
It never hurts to ask to maker sure the sales are activated though. :)

  5. The South County CVS told me months ago that the new week sale prices and ECB start at midnight Sun after their 24 hour stores, never before that.

The Olivette store reduced my ECB last Sunday with no problems.

Today I got the jelly beans, 4 Snickers, Herbal Essence and Purex. Paid $2.35 OOP after $5.60 in coupons and ECBs and got $4 ECB back. I even made .78 profit on the Snickers. No space on the shelf anymore for the 24 ct Excedrin PM at the Olivette store. I'll ask the South County store if they will take my Olivette raincheck but they'll likely refuse.

  8. Why would they refuse another CVS stores raincheck?

  9. Hi All - Asked about reducing ECBs at my store today. They have no problem with it and had not heard about a change in policy.

Tonya - Thanks for sharing when your store turns on the next week's deals. Good advice - ask the store manager.

CJ - I've used rain checks from one store to another and never had a problem. Thanks for the EOS info!

  10. Rachel and Jeri - Thanks for the raincheck info. I thought I had read that CVS rainchecks could only be used at the store where you got them. I must have been misinformed on that!
