  1. Although the ad says up to .75 cents double, I noticed my local St. Louis stores online page says up to .40 cents doubled. Wouldn't the stores have to go by the ad?

    1. Does your store normally double $0.40 and under every day? I would think that is what it is saying. I'm not in St Louis area but my ad always has the doubling info in it - even on triples week when doubling is not even an issue.

  2. Yes, they are tripling coupons up to $0.75. Look like they might not have updated their website.

  3. Thanks for the match ups, I cant wait til tomorrow! I have a few requests if anyone knows the prices - regular or Honey Nut Cheerios, Vlassic Farmers Garden Bread & Butter pickles, Westpac frozen veggies or tater tots, New York Texas Toast croutons, Progresso bread crumbs.
Also does anyone know of a food pantry that takes food in glass bottles?

I also check dates on everything at Schnucks. Dorsett store: there are always expired products on the shelves. It's been that way for the last 16-18 years that I have lived/shopped in that area. On any given day I bet I could find a dozen expired refrigerated items. I wonder if it has to do with their process to handle expired items that haven't sold. I might post a note to the manager at Dorsett too...

You bought everything! I wish people like yourself just wouldn't comment at all. You are very greedy!

  36. Not that I have to explain myself but there are people in the St. Charles county area who are homeless and go to bed hungry every night. God has given me the ability to be a great couponer and im not about to waste it on myself.

    1. If your really "donating" then you need to make a speical order through the store manager. You are taking from other families when you clean the shelves. I am going to call the corporate office of Schnucks and Dierbergs today and hopefully get to the bottom of this. I am tired of following the rules to get to the store to see a shopper with a cart full of progresso soups. You know who you are! Homeless or not, its not fair. I am spending money on newspapers, gas and my personal time just you you can "claim" to be donating. I think that this is really pathetic. Good couponer or not, its UNFAIR to the rest of us. HAve you even though about that?

      Delete
  37. I agree - you can donate to others, but please follow the rules. Some of the St. Charles stores get wiped FAST and it is not fair to others to not get their one trip in because everything is gone. I typically go to Schnucks and Dierbergs 9:30am - I cannot tell you how many things were off the shelves by then. One morning I went at 6am to get my ONE trip in and there were two sisters who had a cart FILLED with progresso soups, dole fruit, granola bars - all the cheap to free stuff and kept pulling from their community cart to make MULTIPLE trips. I have seen these women (late 30's) do this many times over the last year. It stinks because I am a loyal Schnucks/Dierbergs shopper and can't get my one trip in without half of my wish list being gone. Donating is a wonderful thing...so is volunteering. I do both. But to take from other families, who just because they are not homeless doesn't mean they are not struggling, or DON'T DESERVE A GOOD DEAL - is not courteous or following the rules!!!!! Next time I hope you and others keep this in mind. Not to mention - my guess is you are also one of those people taking PILES of free journals to get all those coupons. That is another issue out here - women piling STACKS of journals into their vans and some of us cannot get one. Pathetic!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I didn't have too much trouble with items being wiped out this time :) I am also in St. Charles and usually it is a bigger problem. I figured they wouldn't have 1/2 of what I wanted just because I wasn't able to go until Friday evening, but that wasn't the case. Thank you Schnucks for offering the promotion and for keeping the shelves stocked!
Now the STACKS of journals that disappear out here in St. Charles - that is really rude! I used to try and grab one from the library, once I walked in and a lady was on the floor taking all the coupons from all of the papers right there in front of everyone and had the nerve to tell me there weren't anymore when I asked for one. That upset me, I don't even waste my time checking there anymore b/c they are always gone...

  38. In following on what the previous poster said..... you might also want to bear in mind that their are couponers who coupon so that they do NOT have to use up the recources of the food bank. My hubby has been out of work for a long time now, and we struggle to make ends meet with my meager income. Couponing keeps us able to pay our house payment and it is frustrating when last Thursday (at FOUR different locations in Florissant) that almost all the great deals were wiped out by 9am. The clerks at each store said that at 6am, there were 6-10 coupononers, who came in and out multiple times and basically cleared out the good deals by 7am.

So while, I'm all for volunteering and do so myself quite often, there are ethical ways to donate where you adhere to the store policies. That means one trip, per store, per day, 15 max coupons and three like coupons per product.
How about .... instead of clearing the shelves to donate to the foodbank, follow the rules and if you have extra items at the end of the couponing event that you won't use, then donate that!

    1. Hi guys. I have not posted on here in a really long time. I am from St. Charles. I have to say on the first day of this triples I was off work and instead of getting up early to get to the stock on the first day, I slept in (shame on me)....then I just had "one of those mornings"....needless to say I got to the store at 11am on Thursday. Many of the items I wanted were wiped out. I went to 2 other Schnucks that day and the same thing. I was surprised. In the past stock was not out on so many items sooooo fast! Some of the stores restock on Friday and I was able to get some of the items that were restocked then. There were still a few things though that never returned to the shelves (out at the warehouse). I told my husband that It made me realize that things may be a little more desperate, economically speaking, than a few months ago even. I have noticed food prices just keep rising. I'm not upset with these ladies that are clearing and not following the rules. I'm lucky, my husband and I are both working.....I'm frugal because I'm just made that way, not out of necessity. I am blessed and I am very thankful for that. I don't know these ladies situations. This may literally be the difference between them, their families having what they need. Now.....in saying this, I do see its not right. I have to blame the store more than the shoppers. They should not allow the multiple trips in and out or event all in a row just separated by a divider on the register line. I've seen that too and it just amazes me. I feel like if Schnucks is allowing these ladies to do this, then technically they are not doing anything wrong in that particular store under that particular managment. I just don't understand why Schnucks is allowing this. I'm also sorry for all the people that could not find stock because of it. I had to just look at it as, well.....sometimes I win some and some times I loose some. I didn't get there at 6am on the first day, so part of it is my own fault.

      Delete
    2. It just tells you the kind of person you are. I could never go in and out, I just don't have that much nerve and I also believe in karma, what comes around goes around. These ladies should be embarrassed! They are truly trieves stealing money right out of our pockets. It's not Schnucks fault, they should not have to tell grown adults how to act. They should have learned how to follow rules back in grade school. Pathetic!!!!

      Delete
  39. I am also going to call corporate to stop this foolish behavior. I am not going to tolerate and be the nice person anymore. I hardly got any good deals because of this behavior. I'll check in later and let everyone know what they said. I encourage everyone else to do the same.

  41. Since when is doing Gods work greedy? Do you realize that the stores are competing for your business?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. If you are truly doing "Gods work" then I would think you would follow the rules set out by the stores. I mean... wouldn't God would frown on breaking the store's rules to do "his work"?

      Delete
  42. Well, I guess I have to tell my story. 4 years I was deemed 100% disabled and could no longer work. 1 year ago my husband was put on call, he was no longer getting 40 hours a week. from his job that he worked at for 17 years. At first it was 4 days a week, then 3 then 2 and now they call him about 2 days a month. His pension was stolen by CEO's, ( they come in take a a couple millions dollar sign on bonus, collect the salarty and are gone in 3 months, taking several million as they walk out the door, in bonuses) they gave him a 401k that costs him $40 every six months, it is consistantly loosing money. MY family consist of 2 adults, 2 teenagers and 2 children under 10. My budget is $350 or less a month. That is for all food, toiletries, laundry, etc.... This comes out to about $1.94 per person per day. I gotta do what I gotta do. If you have a better way to feed us and run a huse on that budget, I'm all ears. But, I really don't care what you think of "People like Me". If you had 4 kids to feed I am sure you would do anything necessary to do so. I don't clear the shelves though, I use 15 coupons, 3 like coupons, and if I do go back in I get 15 differant items. I have 5 schnucks within 5 miles of my house. I go in a circle and hit them all, for either a 15 item trip, sometimes 2, 15 item trips. But I would love not have to worry about money, but it's just not reality in this country any more. I am sorry if you did not get the free item you wanted but, like I said before I will do what I have to do

    ReplyDelete
  43. Again your assuming and judging. That is left up to God.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Wow, there's a whole lot of judging going on here without a lot of information. Keep in mind that Schnucks does not guarantee that items will be in stock. Instead of complaining that some people go early and get the deals you want, maybe you should go early too. Good deals are a privilege, not a right. Stop complaining because some people are willing to put in more effort than you are. Calling Schnucks to complain is only going to make them frustrated and less likely to repeat events like this.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I agree... I am afraid these calls will end triple coupons....

  45. Fine - you know what....I will follow the suburban journal guy all around St. Charles and take every paper I can. I will then go to every Schnucks and Dierbergs store in St. Charles, load up a cart - take as much as I can, make repeated trips in and out - wiping as much off the shelves without FOLLOWING the RULES and get a bumped sticker that reads "First one in line gets the most!". This is how some of you are coming off. All people are saying is grow up and follow the rules. Rules are there for a reason - the store is less apt to run out of product and it allows all/most to benefit. I PRAY they make us start getting a store shopping card to scan before coupons can triple in an effort to eliminate those that lack the courtesy to follow their rules! One scan per day or else it beeps and won't triple. Schnucks and Dierbergs - there is your solution!!!! One card per HOUSEHOLD and it gets mailed to the address to eliminate false addresses, names and other "hoopla"! Although, my guess is this whole thing is going away soon. My store managers were doing some serious head shaking this past week and the checkers were greatly agitated at these people. I completely understand!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I know, the store managers at my Schnucks were all gathered around talking. The checker told me that they got bombed with a bunch of ladies with binders coming in and out of the store. She said they were REALLY upset about the abuse. The big bosses were there from corporate too. I could just tell the look of concern on all their faces. Too bad because I'm one that only goes once per day and I still was able to get some but not as much as I would have wanted. I'm happy with the fact that they give us such savings and won't go jeopardizing it just to get a few more bottles of pickles.

  46. I didn't make any trips to Schnucks or Dierberg's until Saturday night. There was lots of merchandise left. Please don't call and complain to the grocery store. They might stop these fabulous sales/events altogether if it becomes too much of a hassle. Please don't ruin it for the rest of us.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I too went on saturday evening at 8pm to St. Charles Stores and found availability for all the items on my list. There were a lot of fellow couponers that were following the rules and having a great time saving. Bah humbug to ya'll that take out your frustrations on an online forum.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Here is where I don't believe you guys.....that the managers and workers and corporate were all standing around shaking their heads. That is not what happens. I saw the managers at one St. Charles Schnucks stop a lady and not allow her to come back in. If they are one of the stores that are enforcing the rules, they don't just stand there and shake their heads. They either enforce them or they don't. I find the people on this forum that gripe and complain are the ones that seem to only coupon the super sales at Schnucks or Dierbergs. If you were a real couponer you would not get all worked up over this because you would have a stock pile from actually couponing every week at all the other stores and even at Schnucks and Dierbergs when they are not doing a super event. I love these events, but come on.....you need to worry about your own selves, you would get much further if you did. Couponing is a way of life and there are deals of pennies, free, even money makers every WEEK. Do your homework and it wont matter who is clearing the shelves and when. And by the way , I missed out on some items, followed the rules....and it was actually the least fruitful triples I've had, but I could care less, that is what a true stock pile is all about......do it right and you won't have to fret when you don't get what you want.

    ReplyDelete

    1. I personally saw the management gathered around up front talking about what to do. No one is making anything up! For those that abuse it don't be surprised when the deals stop. I personally coupon to be frugal, I don't have too. I would just feel bad for the honest people who really depend on it.

  49. I too am asking people not to call corporate. My family needs these events. Short story, I lost my job a little over a year ago. My wife lost hers not long after me. Now with the whole unemployment debate going on we are scared to death of what to do. We have both looked for a job everyday. We have not had an income all month and have no idea what to do. My wife was able to spend $22 for a lot of items to stock us up. I can't tell you what she would have spent but I can tell you that if we have nothing else to eat we will be able to eat cereal. I know she follows the rules and sits and plans everything out. We are in South County and the only thing she said she couldn't find was crescent rolls at Dierbergs. She got up super early all three days and went to the stores. I understand people are frustrated with the people that don't follow the rules but some people are extremely desperate thanks to the economy and the politicians.

    1. I am touched to hear these stories. I get what all the complaints are about, I really do.....but we are all blessed to have these events. Much of the time I like to get the free items, but the items we use every day are not always the free ones. If I can even save 50% knowing that I couponed what we really use its a HUGE VICTORY. I guess I just feel like any of us couponing are doing it for a reason and its all going to good use.

  50. The bottom line is stealing is stealing and it hurts all of us in the form of less items on the shelves, less coupon promotions, or higher cost of items. It doesn't matter what justification you use, whether it is disability, underemployment, or filling food bank shelves. You wouldn't consider robbing a store to feed your family but when you don't follow the policies that's exactly what you're doing.

    2. Your missing the point, they are clipping and rude people are buying it all without them having a chance.

  51. I agree with previous complaint----stop complaining and start clipping.......
I carry a binder but that is just because I like to be organized. Most of the local store managers like me and recognize me when I come in because they know I don't take advantage and always treat their staff with a smile and the respect they should receive from all of us who love their sales.
