Nope! I really hate that show...I end up talking to the TV in a raised voice :)
ReplyDeleteI love it! Some of my family watched it and asked me recently if "That is what I do?". I smiled and said sort of, I am just not that extreme. Now they are suddenly more interested in saving money too instead of just teasing me for my coupons.
ReplyDeleteOn the downside, I could lose a coupon source if they start using them, LOL.

I'll be watching. I dont agree with everything the Couponers do, but its interesting to see what deals they can get. Talking back to the TV is half the fun of the show!

I wish they would tell how much people spent to get that many coupons. Some of them are misleading and make it seem they materialize out of no where and others say, "I buy X newspapers a week" or the one lady who had extras delivered to her house. I want a deal like that! Though I would never use that many so I'd share my coupon hoard ;)
I hated it!! You can't claim to save $40,000 a year if you're buying things you don't even need. Example 65 bottles of mustard for .39 each. What a joke. There is a reason they put that show on after the hoarders show!!
ReplyDeleteI'm with Marcella and Gigi. I think it's exaggerated and contrived. It's all for the shock factor. It's more honest to tell people how much you spend on groceries a month or year and make adjustments for how much you pay for the coupons and stamps. The Cherry-picker's gas is most likely slightly higher than a one stop a week person, also. --my 2 cents.
ReplyDeleteDepends on where you live though. I have aldi, schnucks and shop'n'save right next to each other and dierberg's by my son's school. Not a stretch to hit all those stores in a week. But if I had to drive a long way I wouldn't go to as many different stores.
ReplyDeleteCVS is not close to me so if I go there it has to be for something worth the time.
Hi All - Either the show is growing on me, or the new episode didn't look quite as sensational. I think I'm seeing some more couponing tips thrown in.
ReplyDeleteOn the subject of Cherry Picking. With the price of gas, I'm rethinking my shopping habits. I now am shopping at a different Walgreens & Schnucks because they are in a cluster of stores that include CVS and Aldi. I'm having my husband make a few stops for me if he is close to a store I want to pick up a deal.
But, I agree it's not worth the gas money to run for one little deal that pops up during the week.

ReplyDeleteIt was quite obvious the "Reality TV Drama" Spots. The sisters argued about getting more pork - ooh drama. And the cashier missing all those coupons for Nathan, LOL. Can we say scripted.
I think the show is doing okay showing what the couponers are doing. I don't think we are the target audience for TLC, we already know what we are doing. They have to keep it somewhat general for everyone to understand and enjoy.
Think about when you try to explain a deal to a "non-couponing friend" - we really have to simplify for them to even keep listening :)
Hi Andrea - I'm hoping people will get the "lesson" from the drama spots. Stick to you plan and fix the problems before you leave the store.
