Couponing for Charity - Week of 11/06/11
Couponing for Charity
A few week's ago, I started a Couponing for Charity project where I budget $5 per week to pick up items that will go directly to charity. I've had several readers contacted me wanting to know what would be good items for them to pick up to donate.
Each week, I'll make a short list of deals and coupon match-ups for Couponing for Charity. If you have other ideas of what would be great donation items, please leave a comment.

My No Yolks coupon says that it cannot be doubled. Do stores give you hard time about that, and choose not to double?? Can they do that? I know its the stores choice to double, so why do they put DND on the coupon?

ReplyDeleteI have no idea why coupons will state do not double it is the stores choice and money. At Dierbergs the register will atuomatically double coupons even if it's stated on them not to.
I've never had a problem with a store not doubling a coupon, although I've heard from a reader this week that her cashier read every coupon and overoad the doubling on her No Yolks. I think this is a very isolated situation.
I bought No Yolks at the Dierbergs in Edwardsville, and they did not double either. I didn't argue about it because my kids love them, and 60 cents is still a good price.
ReplyDeleteI also bought the No Yolks at Edwardsville and they automatically doubled. Strange that yours didn't.
ReplyDeleteThe cashier that waited on me at Dierbergs did scrutinize each coupon--- she must have blocked it from doubling. A couple of weeks ago, when KMART was doubling everything up to a dollar, the cashier wouldn't double 55 cent coupons I had either because they read "not subject to doubling." Why print that on coupons in the first place if it's the store that pays and not the manufacturer?
ReplyDeleteHi All - Looks like cashier profiling is going to be more important than ever.
ReplyDeleteI wonder when the new bar code goes into effect at all retailers, if coupons and the retailers will be more aligned with what is stated on the coupon and the store's policy is?
Idea ~~ Use the No Yolks coupon at self check-out. The machine can't read the "do not double", so it doubles just fine. Did that this morning and got 4 of bags of noodles for less than a $1 total.
ReplyDeleteI used the self check out also with no problems doubling on the No Yolks coupons at dierbirgs this week. I purchased 10 bags for our food drive & the total with tax was only $2.16!
ReplyDeleteHi All - I like the idea of using a coupon like the No Yolks at the self checkout too.
ReplyDeleteI used the No Yolks coupon at a regular register at the Warson Woods Dierbergs today and it doubled automatically. The Westpac coupon wouldnt scan, cashier had to enter it in and manually double it.
