  1. The Walgreens locations around me in the Metro East haven't carried the Planters Nut-ration peanut butter for weeks. Is anyone having luck finding it? I'd really like some for my kids' lunches.

  2. They told me that the warehouse ran out and the stores that did have them … well they were expired …. they extended the sale to 5/5

    1. Thanks, Mandy for getting the ending date of this sale.

On another note, has anyone tried Nut-rition peanut butter and what do you think of it?

    2. We have had the Mixed Berry and Banana Oatmeal. We like them both. They are good on fruit, crackers or sandwiches. Hoping to try the Cherry Choco.

    3. Does the Planters sale being extended to 5/5 also include getting the RR, or is just the sales price extended?

    4. Hi CJ

From what I have read elsewhere the RR has been extended also. HTH

  3. I am mad at Walgreens, I made the effort to get the Planters Nut-rition yesterday and it did not ring up at sale price, nor did it give me my Register Reward. I purchased the item anyway and the manager had to create a "ticket" and is supposed to get back to me.
Why do they print the item in their ad if they are not going to put it in the computer? AND, neither the Crest rinse or toothpaste rang up correctly either, so by that time, I was so frustrated, just paid full price and left........

    1. I think Walgreens is horrible. Everytime I go in to buy something on sale it never rings up correct. When you point it out to the cashiers they act like if the computer doesn't do it then they don't know what to do. I went in yesterday to buy Tressemme because it was on sale and my coupon was expiring. They were suppose to be 3/$10 but rang up $3.99. I pointed it out and had a heck of a time getting the cashier to to correct it. She told me it wasn't on sale even as I pointed it out in teh ad. I asked for a manager and was told they were busy. I offered to step aside until I could speak to one. She went ahead and rang it up at the sale price but made a big deal about how it wasn't correct and how the line was being held up. I have had issues at more than one Walgreens and it is always with elderly cashiers. I only go there if there is something that I deem an extremely good price. $2 a bottle for Tressemme was an excellent price. If they plan on being in competition with CVS I suggest they hire employees that are more customer friendly. I have had nothing but excellent experience at CVS. Ok, end of my rant :P

    2. The Tresemme is 3/$10 but they are $3.99 each if you dont buy 3 (see the tiny fine print in the ad). Walgreens has been doing that more and more lately with their pricing. I paid $4.99 for a 12 pack of Dr Pepper yesterday, thinking it would be $3.33 for one since it was 3/$11. Gotta remember to read the fine print when its a multiple item deal.

    3. Any price at Wags that says #/$ will only work if you buy the number listed. It has been that way for a long time. People have probably being paying too much for items and not even realizing it.Luckily my favorite cashier pointed this out to me like a year ago. It's one of their well kept screw the customer who doesn't pay attention secrets.

    4. I bought 4.(2 shampoo and 2 conditioner) I thought they would ring up 3 at 3/$10 and then 1 at $3.99. So if I'm reading your post right, the reason they all rang up at $3.99 is because I bought an extra one? Boy that's really messed up. The crabby old lady told me that they were ringing up wrong because I didn't buy 3 of the exact same thing(like three of the same shampoo)I guess the employees don't even know that the rules are. I understand they were THE pharmacy in town for a long time but now they have serious competition. I don't see this turning out very well for them. Especially if they keep cheezing off the customers.

    5. I an under the impression that if there is a 3/$10 deal not only will the three ring up for a total of $10 (sometime one will ring regular price and others are adjusted to make up the difference,) but any additional items will ring up for $3.34.

But, it's been awhile since I've done much shopping at Wags, who knows if that has changed.

  4. Agreed...I went there last week at 8am on sunday....I quit them for over a year but was tempted to see if anything changed....nope! Nothing signed...I had to ask for them to bring me out the rr items....on the 3rd item not stocked...the worker had a tude because I kept asking to check the back...then she adds.. "the limit is one btw!" I just sat my stuff down and walked out. Brought back memories of why I quit shopping there. My life is so much easier without wags!

    1. Glad to see I am not the only one. I had issue day after Christmas and haven't been back since. I called corporate and it took three weeks for anyone to get back to me. I wasn't expecting compensation in any way. Just wanted to tell them what happened at two of there stores. One of the store managers called me and was rude.I will go out of my way to go somewhere else. I agree CVS is wonderful. The employees are always so friendly and helpful. A few weeks back, when the shampoo was free, I went to one store twice but by the time I got there they were sold out again. The cashier told me she would substitute something else. They really have their act together. Renee

    2. Just had my first bad couponing experience and of course it was Walgreens!!!! All I have to say is Samantha at the Hwy K and N store in O'Fallon MO is one miserable person......

  5. Couldn't be any worse than Pauline from Wentzville Walgreens or the lady who sits in a chair and scans each item with one hand and doesn't use her other hand.

  6. I have had the complete opposite experience at the Walgreens on Sulphur Springs/Big Bend. Im usually the one who has made the mistake when the price is wrong. They have many employees who have been there for years and are always very friendly with me. I do need to check out CVS though. There just arent as many. I have 4 walgreens to choose from between work and home! Sometimes I hit all 4 when there is a really hot item:)

    1. I can see that. I have 7 WAGS all around me. I used to go to all of them on a Sunday morning, rolling the RRs between each. I did that so not to clear shelves and so that I didn't stay there doing 5 transactions in one store. I had fun with it back then. I got lucky here in St Charles, they opened up 2 CVS close to me...although I rarely need to go the one thats a little farther from my house. CVS is great! They are soooo coupon friendly...you don't have to worry about filler items (thats my favorite part), I often have a pile of coupons..many more coupons that items..its great. They DO have limits on there deals, and it keeps stock in the store a little longer which is nice too. Looking back at WAGS. I got a bunch of stuff I didn't need because of all their rules...and even 0.25 cents for filler items adds up after a while and takes away from the overall savings.

You are lucky your WAGS is nice. Overall, the workers at most WAGS are on the defensive with couponers. They hide stock, leave new sale signage off items (even on the first day of the ad week!), and act like the couponers are trying to pull one over on them.

I had an interesting conversation with CVS corporate...I called because I had a question about their coupon policy. We got on the subject of how CVS staff are trained to be coupon friendly. When I mentioned how much nicer CVS is and why I stopped shopping at Walgreens, the CVS corporate person said "We keep hearing this from customers and we just don't understand why. We all get reimbursed for coupons so its very important to our business to accept as many as we can!"

This was coming from corporate, but I see it reflected in CVS stores (for the most part). She was saying what we all know to be true...COUPONS ARE MONEY.

The CVS lady at corporate also said that CVS has "loss prevention stores", they are in the areas that they have had a problem with theft and fraud. She told me that we as customers will never know for sure which stores are the loss prevention stores, but they are more strict with coupons than the others. She said that she apologizes in advance if I ever run into one of those stores, because chances are they may not be as lieniant with coupon use as all their other stores.

I thought this was interesting information.

    2. Hi All - I haven't shopped much at Wags for over a year. Although, the store I shopped and the cashier I used was descent. I can only hear so many horror stories before I'm fed up with the organization.

Jessonica - Thanks for relaying what you found out while talking to CVS corp. What a forward thinking organization to deal individually with stores that have had a problem and no assume if they have a problem at one store, it happens at all .

Walgreens has the attitude that they have enough of the market share they can do whatever they want. I have my doubts that philospohy will work in the long run.

  7. I coupon to save money and for the sport of it. That means, as with sports, I have to learn the rules. The rules of every game (store) are a little different.

Here is what I have learned about Walgreens (some is true for all stores):
    1. In St. Louis there is a Walgreens on every other corner. If I have problems repeatedly at one, I shop elsewhere.
    2. Check out in photo or beauty. (THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT.) I look for an employee in that area and ask them to check me out. They are always happy to do that. This way I do not feel rushed with another customer behind me at the front register. I let them know I need extra time to make sure everything is right. They are always good about it.
    3. I know about what my total will be. I usually do not have huge transactions, so this is pretty easy. I check on my phone or take a calculator.
    4. If my total is too high or a product does not ring up what I think is the correct price, I ask about it then. (The Tresemme should have rung up $3.99 for the first two and changed to reflect the 3/$10 price for the third and fourth one. If I was the person who wrote about this, I would return to that store with my receipt and this week's ad. I would ask for a manager and ask him/her to explain the pricing. That said, realize many managers have very creative explanations about things like this. It is comical what some have told me.)
    5. If I have a problem the cashier cannot solve, I ask for a manager. I am always calm and polite.
    6. Remember you don't have to buy anything you don't like the way it rings up. Just tell them to take it out of the order or walk away from the entire order.
    7. I complete the survey at the bottom of the receipt. Walgreens does have about the worst customer service I have ever seen, but I do this anyway. I let the cashiers know I am. Ratings of "9" are important to the store.
    8. Find a store and cashiers you like. My favorite store seems to enjoy me as a customer. The cashiers are friendly, and we chat about many things. They like to see my couponing bargains. I am envious of their employee discount! I avoid stores and cashiers who do not appreciate my business.

Serious couponing is not easy. There is planning and more planning. I make mistakes, but learn from them. Walgreens is probably the most difficult place to coupon shop, but once you master Walgreens everywhere else is easy. Just remember you are bringing money into the store. If one particular store is foolish enough not to want your money (yes, coupons are money!), then find one that is glad to have your business.

    Happy Shopping!
