CVS Deals - Week of 1/17/10

Prices good January 17 - 23, 2010

St Louis Locations - Now Open!
South City - Gravois and Hampton
South County - Lindbergh and Lemay Ferry
Olivette - Olive just west of I-170
West County - Manchester & Kiefer

It was so exciting to shop at a CVS in St Louis today. A little bit crazy - but fun. Not only were lots of people signing up for their Extra Care cards, but they were giving out sample packs of CVS products (with a coupon for $2 off any CVS brand purchase of $10 or more), and you could sign up to win a $100 CVS giftcard.

The South City store is not stocking the "Bonus Packs" that are on sale through sometime in February. So they didn't have the 6 packs of Soy Joy bars. The manager was great to work with and gave me 6 individual bars for free.

Thanks to Cindy at Living Rich with Coupon for this week's match-ups.

  1. The chips look like they are $1 higher at CVS than Walgreens. Am I looking at it wrong?

  2. So is the ECB a credit card or just a shopping card?

  3. Hi Lynda

Yes, the chips, Gatorade and Pepsi 12-packs are a better deal at Walgrees. They have the dip & salsa in the deal too.

CVS does have True North, Starbucks, Amp and Izze in their deal. (I don't even know what Izze is.)

From what I can tell this isn't a very good week at CVS. I would imagine they are like Walgreens where their great deals go in spurts.

  4. Hi waki04,

ECB stands for Extra Care Buck. They're much like a Register Reward but easier to use.

The ECB coupon prints at the end of your receipt.
They are much easier to use becaues they do not have all the restriction a Register Reward has. You can roll them not only within the same manufacturer but with in the same deal, you can use an ECB just received to buy the exact same product.

  5. Oh, ok...but in the paper I saw it mention about an ECB "card" and prices with a "card"....any ideas what that was referencing?

  6. wackio4... you have to sign up to get an Extra Care "card". You have to use your card to get the "with a card" prices and for the ECB's to print on your receipt.

  7. Make sure you go to CVS.com to sign up for an account and attach your Extra Care card. Frequently they send me a printable coupon for $5/25 and occasionally a free product coupon. Most stores have a red scanner, you can scan your card to get more coupons, plus use it to price check.

  8. Purchase a green bag tag and have it scanned with your purchase when you take your own reuseable bag. You do not have to use a CVS reuseable bag, any will do. You can even get it scanned for a small purchase when you don't need a bag. It will only work once a day. For every 4 times it is scanned, you will get a $1 ECB.

  9. Hi waki04

When the ad mentions Extra Care card it means their loyalty card. Like Judy said you have to sign up - you can do that at the store and use the card the same day you sign up. All your shopping at CVS will be tracked with the card and the card is how you get the deals.

  10. Thanks, Judy!

There is a place on the Extra Card application to put your email address. Do you know if your card is automatically attached to your email or do you have to do that yourself.

Love the Green Bag Tag. I'm going to write a post about it today.

  11. Jeri...I'm not sure if it is automatically attached. I did not get emails until I signed up at CVS.com and checked the box to receive them. You can check your ECB usage on there too.

Also, one store I go to takes ECB's up to 1 week expired, and another store will take them same week they expire, prior to Sunday, so just ask.

Also, if you get a raincheck for an item with ECB's, make sure they write in the amount of the ECB so it can be manually entered when you redeem the raincheck.

  12. Thanks Judy for all your information. It's great to have a CVS shopper amongst us.

  13. Ok I got it! Thanks guys!!! That's kind of what I thought, but the fact that the whole flyer in the newspaper mentioned "with card" purchases... I thought that may have been the only way to get things :)

  14. Hi Jeri,

Just did my my first CVS deal (Oust) and got my Extra Care card - yeah! The new store looked so much nicer than Walgreens. I also noticed a sign that a CVS will be built at Henry and Clayton - they haven't broken ground yet but this will be even closer than the one on Manchester for me.

  15. Hi Maureen,

The new stores are really nice. I've heard 8 CVS's are planned for St Louis. I hope they do well and more are built. It is nice to have another option of drugstores. Thanks for spotting one of the future locations.
