Trade your Register Rewards for Shop 'n Save Coupons

The 2011 edition of the Entertainment Book includes (6) $5 off $50 purchase Shop 'n Save coupons (and a Free Frappe from McDonald's).  Today is the perfect time to use your Walgreens' Register Rewards to purchase one.

Purchase:
(1) 2011 Entertainment Book $35.00
Use:
Friends and Family 15 % discount Coupon -$5.25 (valid for Wednesday 12/1 only)
$3 off 15 Register Reward -$3.00
Walgreens in-ad coupon for Entertainment Book -$10.00*
Final cost: $16.75

* The 15% off coupon could reduce the in-ad coupon by 15% also.  If that is happening, your final cost would be $18.25

Hopefully, you have a good stash of Register Rewards after the Black Friday sales. You can pick one up for FREE if you do.

Remember, manufacturer coupons and Register Rewards  cannot exceed the number of items purchased.  If you use multiple RR, you will also need to purchase filler items.  This week Votive Candles are the cheapest item you can use as a filler - $0.17 each with in-ad coupon.

  2. Does anyone know if we get 20% off photos?
I am tossing between using my RRs on the Ebook or my Christmas cards.

  3. Just got home and just an FYI. I bought the 18cents Animal Kingdom Candy by itself. Paid 19cents after tax but did NOT get the $3 off $15 RR coupon. I don't know if it's because I bought "food". My walkable Wags was out of the Votive Candle.

I still had a good trip though and am so grateful. :)

  4. Can you use the $5.00 off $50 coupons even after the $10 Thursday discount?

    Anon:
I find it better to purchase a gift card with the Shop n Save coupons, to avoid haggle or hassle at the cash register!!

  6. Just got back from Wags and had my normal horrible experience. When you use the 15% off you get that off of the entertainment book but you ony get $8.50 off of the Wags coupon. The same with most items you have a wags coupon for. Talked to the manager about it and he said that is how it works for the employees all the time. The coupon books you get the full amount but not the wags coupons in the ad. The entertainment book is still a great deal though. Would love to hear if anyone else had the same thing.

  8. Tracy K- Wouldnt you still have to spend $45 to get the $50 giftcard though? I'm hoping to use a $10 off $50 discount w the $5 ShopnSave coupon and my manufacturer coupons to spend under $18.00... Hopefully they accept both together as they say off of the total "grocery" purchase.

  9. @Anonymous - You can use the $5/$50 Entertainment book coupon in conjuction with the $10 off Thursday discount. $15 off your $50 purchase before any coupons applied!!!

Answer to my Question above: Photo developing/cards/etc is considered a Walgreens product so 20% off today, and use SWEATERS code for 25% off photo cards.

Got 2 Lysol Wipes, 8 Bumblebee tuna, 40 Photo cards for $1.67!!!

  10. Hi All- From what I'm reading on forums, I don't know if that $3 off $15 coupon is printing today at all. But, it's still worth a try to buy someting cheap to see if you get it.

Tracy K - Have you been had problems using a $5/$50 coupon on a $10/$50 Thursday? I've probably shopped at five different SNS's on $10/$50 Thursday and have never had a cashier even gift it a second thought. And, I figure my transaction so it's right at $50.

Lynda - Several readers said that was going to be how it worked. I asked a cashier I've gotten to know well that uses coupons how it was going to work. She told me the full $10 would be deducted becasue that is how it works for employee discounts. I'm begining to think she really isn't that much of a couponer or she would known the coupon would be reduced also. But it's a great deal even with the $10 coupon only being worth $8.50.

Anonymous SNS shopper - I've never had a problem with the cashiers accepting the $5/$50 on a $10/$50 Thursday. I do it everytime & never had a cshier give it a second though. I do had that coupon over first before any other coupons.

  11. Hi, Lynda! Based on my shopping experience/receipts today, what the manager said/explained to you about the 15% off Family and Friends is how their register's system works. I used Wags weekly ad coupons which were reduced by 15%, but the Wags coupon from the Diabetes and You book was NOT reduced. Hope this helps.

And oh, I just realized now that I would have done better with my shopping. Instead of an OOP of a total of $1.25 I could have just OOPd 72cents. hehe :) . When I think I'm really being good at Wags couponing, I will learn that I'm not. :) Oh, couponing, Wags. :)

  12. I didn't get a print out coupon. I had to buy pedialyte (sick baby) and nothing came out of the catalina. At least I got a discount on pedialyte and advil.

  13. Oh wait! I did the math, you'll save an extra .50 using the employee discount, instead of getting the extra Jingle Cash.

  14. I paid about $18 for a coupon book, four bags of M&M's, one Folgers, four candy Santas for stockings. And $5RR for next time. Yay!

  15. Lynda,
I had the same thing happen to me tonight. I am starting to sour on Wags. Tonight the manager said "oh its you again" which really made me mad. He was not helpful in any way. I might just need to change location.

  16. Christine it really doesn't matter if you change locations they are all pretty much the same. There are a few really good cashiers but for the most part I have found they aren't really interested in helping you out or following Wags policies. The managers aren't much better.

  17. When I was at my walgreens last Saturday, I bought 2 of the thermacare. I told the cashier I hated to do that back to back but they were out of them on Black Friday. She told me they hadn't gotten a truck so they had them in store maybe just not on shelf. She aid I should have asked. I told her the cashier I had Friday morning was not overly helpful so I didn't bother. The store manager was standin there at the time and asked me who it was. I told her I didn't really remember (I had shopped from 6am-8pm Black Friday). I told her I also thought that the woman was sleepy not rude that morning. The store manager asked me to tell her if any of her employees ever gave less than 100% because she wants to k ow so it can be resolved. I was so thankful that she cares about the customer service aspect of her store! I told her that many of the 'online coupon community' have horrible experiences at walgreens and accepting coupons. She apologized (!) and said that was not how she wanted her customers to feel!
I have started going to that one more because one gal in cosmetics is so genuinely pleasant!

  18. Hi All

Marcella - I hope the little one is feeling better soon. It's never fun to have to buy Pedialyte.

Christine - Good thing there is a Walgreens on just about every other corner. You don't have to put up being treated like that. You should email Corp. Managers are evaluated by customer feedback Corp receives.

Tonya - I agree there are a few good managers out there. But, the bad experiences at Walgreens hurt even the good ones. You might have to try a few differnt stores before you find the good one.
