Walgreens $5 Scenario - Week of 6/12/11

The most cost effective way to shop at Walgreens is to roll Register Rewards - spend Register Rewards on products that trigger more.  I suggest checking out at the Cosmetic Counter.  Multiple transaction always go smoother at a less busy register.

If you're following  my $5 Scenarios, you have a $4 Garnier Register Reward to start this week's shopping.

Check out all of this week's Walgreens deals HERE.

NOTE: Word is, some store are now limiting the number of sale items you can purchase and the number of transactions allowed.  Check with the staff at your store before you shop.

Transaction #1
purchase:
(1) Wal-Flex 24 Hour Allergy Relief (5 ct) $3.99
(1) Nestle Candy Bar $0.39 (needed so total is large enough to use RR)

  1. Can I use 3 P&G RR's to pay for a transaction (which includes no P&G products to be concerned about for future RR's) ?

  2. Hi Stacey - The number or RR you use does not affect if the RR print or not - as long as they are from a different manufacturer.

But Walgreens registers will not accept more coupons than items purchased and RR are considered coupons.

  3. Yes, have plenty of items for total coupons and RR's. Just wanted to be sure I could use 3-P&G RR's in the same transaction. Thanks!!

  4. I live out in St. Charles, and several of the Wags I've been in have been limiting certain items. I like it, but was wondering if this was area wide and what other folks thought.

  5. I live in The Riverbend area (Alton, Bethalto, Wood River, etc.) and they have started limiting. Frankly, I love it. It has made it so much easier to shop. The shelves aren't totally cleared by 10am and then again, as soon as the trucks come in during the week.

We went out at 11 am and I got my Schick, Dial Body Lotion and Bayer. No glitches. I hate wasting a trip.

  6. Hi St Charles - I live in the city and none of the Wags I shop have limited pruchases. From what I'm understanding the limits are imposed either at the store or district level.

I have no problems with limiting the number of a individual product you can purchase, but the number of RR you can use in a day seems a little ridiculous.

  7. Jeri,

I agree with the RR rewards issue. I have not seen that yet. Sure hope we don't.

  8. Live in St. Charles...yesterday the cashier told me they are now required to limit the number of transactions (checkouts); in addition, they are not stocking all of the items on the shelf. You have to ask someone for the product and they bring it out of the back. Seems like a good idea if you have the time to find someone to go to the back and bring out your items. I feel sorry for customers who don't know to ask and assume they are just out of the product. The cashier said this order came down from district; they have been hit hard over the past few weeks. Sorry, Wags, we aren't doing this for fun...some of us have limited income and use it as a survival skill.

  9. Last weeks Gilette razor is still giving a $5 RR so you can add a transaction after the Schick Razor and get the Gilette on then get the refills with a $2 Coupon for the and it would be 1.89.

I had a cashier training a new clerk, and she was telling her they USED to have limits on transactions, but that corporate said they didn't have to, but if there is a line they can ask you to step to the back of the line. Which I generally do anyway.

  10. Hi Anonymous - I think that Gillette Razor RR must be a monthly deal. Thanks for the ideas!

    Interesting about your cashiers conversations.
