Thanks so much starting off with no RRs!! I'm starting to grasp the concept now :)
ReplyDeleteJenny - It looks harder than it is. It's really fun to walk away with bag of merchandise for very little money.
ReplyDeleteIf you can get your hands on a KC sunday paper, then you have $3 off 2 AND $1.50 off 1 theraflu in there. The paper is more expensive however! I didn't see either of these cupons in St. Louis when I bought them.
ReplyDeleteHTH
Audrey
I get a Journal free paper on Saturdays with one SS insert. It's usually slightly different than the one in the Post, usually with fewer coupons. But it had the Theraflu and Triaminic coupons in it. I actually just mixed all the coupon inserts together and thought they came from the Post.
ReplyDeleteAudrey - Thanks! you get all the good things out in Mid-MO.
ReplyDeleteem - I didn't know the Journal had coupons. Thanks!
I always take a walk on Sunday nights (after dark so I cant be seen!) and pick up a couple extra Journals for the coupons. My neighbors never pick theirs up. I hate to see good coupons go to waste!
ReplyDeleteOooof, guess I'll have to wait on doing my first RR trip to Walgreens. Just went to the Zantac site to print my coupons and it told me the offer expired. Oh well :)
ReplyDeleteCJ - I have a friend in South Coutny that does that too. Good thing you don't live on the same street. I can just imagine the two of you arm wresting over coupons.
ReplyDeleteJenny - Bummer. But there are a lot of other great deals to take advantage of. Thanks for letting me know the offered is expired.
New to this as of today. How do you post on October 17th when the store advertisements come out on Sunday, October 18th? Thanks
ReplyDeleteI pick up an early edition of the Post-Dispatch that is available on Saturday morning. The ad in the early edition.
ReplyDeleteI bought Zantac yeterday at Walgreens and it had a $2 Peelie Coupon on the front. That was out in O'Fallon. Hopefully there will be some others - you can definitely scope it out since you have to have someone open the security point for Zantac...who knew?
ReplyDeleteCash Cowen - Thanks for the heads up on the peelie.
ReplyDeleteI live in the city and some Walgreens stores not only locks up Zantac, but razors, body wash and deodorant. I think they should just hang up a sign that says - No need to steal. You can make money buying these products.
The Zantac site will take your information and then tell you the coupon offer expired. I should call and complain since they have my information now and I have nothing in return.Frustrating.
ReplyDeleteCoupons advertised on web sites and then not available are a huge pet peeve of mine. If they can remove the coupon, they can remove the advertising.
ReplyDeleteBut even worse, is when you have to register and then the coupon is gone.
You should contact the company. They need to hear from comsumers what impression they are projecting.
Some of the Zantac boxes have $2.00 off coupons attached - I was fortunate to find one at our Walgreens so I tucked my $1.00 back in my pocket for another transaction! I wasn't able to get the $5.00 either. Good to see another St. Louis Blog!
ReplyDeleteZantac isn't locked up at any of the Wags stores I go to. It's just on the shelves with all the other antacids. Why would people need to steal when you can get so much for free legally? I haven't seen any peelies. I heard the $5 printable is now working again if you haven't already printed it.
ReplyDeleteNancy - I hope you can get the $5 Zantac coupon since it's available again. I love reading other St Louis Blogs.
ReplyDeleteCJ - Today, I was in the store that locks almost everything up. I walked back to see if they still had Zantac and it wasn't locked up. I guess people who steal personal products don't worry about their heartburn.
I have a question. If on transaction #1 you bought 3 items and used 3 manufacture coupons and 1 Walgreens add coupon, if you would have used a RRR would you have had to buy 1 or 2 fillers? Do the add coupons count?
ReplyDeletemmcmul- Walgreens ad coupons don't count in your manufacturer coupon = product count, but RR do.
ReplyDeleteSo in your scenario, you need to buy one filler.
Arrrrhh. I had the worst experience at walgreens. And my whole transaction was just on these Cough drops.
ReplyDeleteI had 2 B1G1 coupons for ricola cough drops and 2 walgreens coupons on them as well... .50 cents off ricola cough drops from the Healthy Savings booklet and the in ad coupon for 2/$3. I knew i was going to have trouble because the cashier looked like I had handed her a flaming bag of poop when i handed her my coupons.
First she said she could only take one of the walgreens coupons and then I had her ask the manager if this was correct...and lo and behold she then could take both. But she scanned these fist because the then she scanned the B1G1 coupons and one wouldn't take. So I explained that you have to probably scan the manufacturer coupons first and she had a total hissy. So I told her her to void everything and I would go to another walgreens...but I'm not sure I will.
Is it always like this there???!! I may have sworn off of Walgreens. :(
Jenny--I swore off Walgreens for a month or two, regrouped and with Jeri's posts, I really got it now. My goal is to always pay with change (less than $1), but to buy one thing that I really need or am really excited about.
ReplyDeleteKelly
Thanks, that helps...haha. I'm google-ing more walgreens horror stories and they are pretty funny. With Jeri's posts I'm sure I will get back up and try again. The worst they can do is say no again, right?
ReplyDeleteI think it also might be helpful to get to know the managers and ask them personally what their coupon policy is :)
Jenny - I'm like Kelly and have sworn off Walgreens also, but I'm lured back by the fantastic deals I can't pass up.
ReplyDeleteThe good thing about Walgreens is they are everywhere. There is some stores I won't shop and employees I won't deal with. But there are other employees that love to see how much I save and get even more excited than I do.
A couple of tips:
1. Always give the cashier your Walgreens coupon last - even if you have to hide them in your pocket until the cashier has rung up your manufacturer coupons.
2. Check out at the cosmetic counter. They usually don't have a line and coupons don't stress them out as much.
3. Get to know the employees and manager. Tell them where they can find the great coupons.
Just today, when I was checking out at the cosmetic counter, I told the cashier where to find the blinkie coupons for Froot Loops. If you pass on these types of tips, all of a sudden, even the nastiest cashier goes from dreading seeing you to looking forward to checking you out.
Besides you can't write off Walgreens, you might have to pay for toothpaste, floss, shampoo, deodorant, heartburn medicine .......
Great tips!! Especially number 1. Am heading out tomorrow to try again! :)
