Deal of the Day - 11/13/09

Possibly FREE Mars Candy Bars at Walgreens

Hurry this deal is good for today (Sunday 12/13/09) only!

Walgreens has an in-ad coupon for .39 Mars candy bars in this week's ad. Here is a scenario where you will get them for free.

Buy (2) Mars Candy Bars @ .89 Regular price = $1.78
first give the cashier you B1G1 coupon from 11/15/09 SS RP-. 89 (coupon expires 12/13/09!)
then hand the cashier your in-ad coupon (it will deduct .50 twice) -$1
= .11 overage

Cashiers get freaked out when the register totals a negative amount. Maker sure you are buying something else to cover the overage.

If your cashier insists on scanning the in-ad coupon first, you will end up with (2) candy bars for .39 - still a great deal.

Thanks, kas!

  1. Thanks, Tara! I fixed my post. I really do need a proof reader before I post.

  2. Since there was a dog food MQ on the reverse side, guess I gave all my $1.00 Complete to one of the Humane Society. Anyway, left home with a bunch of Mars MQ, only one Complete MQ and three $5 Wags RR.

One store the cashier tried to be slick and ring up $.39 from the start. Hand over my MQ, the $5 RR and then the in-ad coupon. Don't know what happen, I still paid next to nothing. This was the only store that has the B1G1 pack of the lens solution and a RR was outputted.

Next store, the clueless cashier had problems with the guy (Mars candy) before me and finally got that done. She took off the full enough for each of his bars, while I got only $.39 subtracted. By chance, a manager was there, I stated the previous guy has received the full amount, and cashier denied it. The manager acted like I was taking money out of her pockets. I forced the issue of my MQ being marked with $.39, which got the woman behind me motor mouthing. When she again stated I should only receive $.39, I told her that folks were on the internet all day saying they got the full amount.

Finally, I had five Mars coupons left and was just sick of Wags drones. Grabbed 10 bars and one Sunday paper. This Einstein reads the wording on a coupon and inform me only one could be used. Waited 10 minutes for a manager and at least this guy had common sense. As usual, waited for the B1G1 coupons to rang up and then gave the cashier the in-ad one. Paid less then the price of the paper

  4. It's charming when you find a cashier who likes what you do. I've been grooming a few with candy filler items. They seem to enjoy the caramels at the counter.
There is a cashier at the Tesson Ferry Store I call "sourpuss" and stay away from her. I will circle the store while I wait for another cashier. Another one I call "my boyfriend" because he'll take any coupon I give him. Kelly

  5. Kelly - How funny. I have visions of you being like an airplane circling to land. I have waited for a favorite cashier to take their break before I checked out.

  6. The Tesson Ferry store by Dierberg's? I don't care for the cashiers there or the one at Gravois & Tesson Ferry, but the ones at the South Lindbergh store next to Shop n Save are wonderful!!

  7. There are certain stores I just will not go to because of the same issues. There is one at the Big Bend store that is just clueless. My sister and I both will just not go there when she works. I have her schedule down now and will avoid her at all cost. Another store clerk told me the people who use RR's are just stealing. I am like is she kidding me..... I have found the older the clerks the worst they are.

  8. I love hearing everyones stories. It confirms we are all in the same boat.

It's unbelievable Lynda that a cashier told you using RR is jut stealing. But, many cashier must think that from the way they act - they just don't say it.
