Walgreens
Last week, Ann at Coupons Deals and More mentioned she was Walgreens weary. Yes, that is exactly how I feel. So last Saturday, I decided to spend all my Register Rewards. It didn't quite work out as I had planned. My husband informed me our son in college had taken all the razors with him back to school, so I ended up with a Register Reward from the razor my husband needed. And, then there was this week's Excedrin money-maker I couldn't pass up. So I still have a few Register Rewards to spend. I'm going to get them spent and go Register Reward free - someday. Before sales & coupons: $51.02

I needed to buy dog food and had been waiting for my $10 Target giftcard to arrive from MyPoints.com, and then I got overage from the Gillette products. It all worked out perfectly. I hate to spend money on dog food. Before sales & coupons: $50.46

I don't buy or use Hamburger Helper, but this week it was a small money-maker and I couldn't pass it up. I'm going to cannibalize the box and use the macaroni noodles for something else. I've heard it's a much better product than it was in the past. But, I still think I'm going to pass. Before sales & coupons: $62.37

Aldi
This week, I found out how Aldi's double guarantee works. I bought a ham last Sunday because of an additional $5 off sale. The use-by date was the 28th. I planned on cooking and using it up during the week, so that shouldn't have been a problem. When I opened the ham on Monday, it was slimy. So, back to Aldi it went. They refunded my money and offered me another ham as a replacement. I chose to leave the replacement ham at the store. One slimy ham is enough for me.Comparable Schnucks price: $6.75

Splurge Funds: $70.74
For those who don't read my blog on a regular basis, my splurge funds are the difference between what I've actually spent and my $50 budget. They are for those items I never find on sale or that I don't have coupons for.
The Wags deal where one buy 4 bags @$10.00 of Hershey pieces and receive a $5.00 RR has a twist. Each time a $1.00 MQ on a 9.4 oz. or larger M&M bag is generated with a rolling April expiration date. Next week in the ad the Easter bags are shown 2/$4.00 after a $1.00 Q, which I assume is a Wags one.
ReplyDeleteHopefully, there is some bags of M&M Almonds available.
At Dierbergs last night, I had the misfortune of checking out at a register where its Catalina Q machine was not working. Cashier and customer service girl insisted that I already got the "discount" on my receipt on the Hamburger Helper. I told them that its not it. I'm still supposed to get the Cat. Q to use on my next shopping order. I asked the Customer service girl to ring up 6 Hamburger Helpers on another register and it spit out my $2.50 Cat Q. She said that I should have had a "proof" that its going to spit a Cat Q.
ReplyDeleteIf I have not insisted I would have not gotten it. And she even made me wait before she assisted me. Something to do with her being my herself at the Customer service counter. :I
Lesson learned: "not only do cashier shopping, ALWAYS make sure that Cat. Q machine is working". :I
Hi Kas, That was a nice perk of buying Hershey's Pieces!
ReplyDeleteHi coupon.girl - Good for you for standing your ground. If you feel like you were treated poorly, you should contact Dierbergs Corporate offices.
I sure wish that the stores would be informed about what Catalina deals are going on. It would make life easier for the shopper and the store employees.
At Dierbergs this week I had trouble with the internet coupons. They ended up taking them all but not until they call 6 people to come over and look at them. Why didn't they just call the manger to begin with. The manager ended up telling me they didn't look fraudulent. I understand all about the fraud but you either take them or you don't. Come on they were only .50 cent off.
ReplyDeletecoupon.girl - The Warson Woods store's customer service was great to me, she just wrote "coupon received" on my receipt and gave me $1.50 cash. I guess it all depends on who's working.
ReplyDeleteJeri - I made Tuna Helper tetrazini tonight and thought it was really good. I added some corn and black pepper to give it more flavor.
That $1.00 M&M Q was bringing out earlier in the week and today not one.
ReplyDeleteHi Lynda - I had one of my favorite cashiers tell me "we've had a talking to" refering to coupons. I feel for the cashiers at times. I think they are scared they are going to do something wrong and lose their jobs.
ReplyDeleteI'm afraid the "talking to" dosen't give the cashiers good info, just scare tactics of all that could be wrong with coupons. If cashiers were given info on how to spot legit coupons they would also know how to tell when they were fraudulant. And then, the wouldn't question all coupons.
