Saved 77% This Week

I had hoped to get to Shop 'n Save on Thursday to take advantage of $10 off $50 and to drive out to the Twin Oaks Schnucks for the match, but it didn't happen. I debated not going shopping at all. We could survive next week from the pantry and freezer. But, late Friday afternoon the urge took over and I headed to Dierbergs, Schnucks and Shop 'n Save to pick up the deals.

Walgreens
I finally spent the last of my Register Rewards. I'm going Register Reward free for awhile. Not that I've had a bad experience at Walgreens, but I'm stocked up on most anything I can buy there.

Before coupons: $3.00
Total spent: $0.00
Total saved: $3.00 for 100%

Schnucks
I split my purchase into two transactions - purchased Hidden Valley for the $5 pork Catalina, and Ore-Ida for the ketchup Catalina, and then purchased pork and ketchup in the second transactions.

Before sales & coupons: $43.89
Total spent: $10.61
Total saved: $33.28 for 76%

Shop 'n Save
I ran out on Sunday to get the Edy's before the coupons expired. Since I didn't get to Shop 'n Save on Thursday, I wasn't planning to go at all, but I had one Kahiki coupon left and the International Delight was calling.

Before sales & Coupons: $28.57
Total spent: $7.30
Total saved: $20.87 for 74%

Dierbergs
Before sales & coupons: $15.89
Total spent: $5.42
Total saved: $10.47 for 66%

Aldi
Comparable Schnucks price: $20.74
Total spent: $12.46
Total saved: $8.28 for 40%

My Splurge
I didn't think to get a picture of my splurge this week. I bought catfish and fresh bakery buns. I love having my splurge budget; it's nice to have the cushion in the budget for items that aren't the most frugal.

Before sales: $19.59
Total spent: $14.81
Total saved: $4.78 for 24%

Weekly Totals
Before sales & coupons: $112.09
Total spent: $35.79 - $10 in rebates I received this week = $25.79
Total saved: $86.30 for 77%

Year To Date Totals
Spent: $455.25
($41 weekly average)
Saved: $1572.81 ($143 weekly average)

Splurge Fund: $94.75

For those who don't read my blog on a regular basis, my splurge funds are the difference between what I've actually spent and my $50 budget. They are for those items I never find on sale or that I don't have coupons for.

  1. Seeing the Sunday paper pic, I just have to talk about the coupon for B1G1 Purex that expired last Mar. 6. I had the misfortune of finding (5) of them beside the Purex detergent YESTERDAY at ShopNSave. :( FIVE! It would have been (10) FREE bottles of detergent at Wags. Big UGHS!

From now on, I think if there's a good coupon on an item, on its expiry date, I better look at the item at the stores. There's a possibility someone will leave the coupon with the item.

Btw, it "puzzles" me that someone would buy 5 or maybe more Sunday papers for the Qs but won't look for better deals at other stores to use them on. :I

  2. Hi coupon.girl - Coupon fairys are nice, but too bad the coupons were expired. I'm thinking the person that left them was brand loyal. That's a mistake when you could get free detergant.

  3. I would love to see what you were planning on buying at schnucks earlier in the week.I have a schnucks in my area and don't find much on the internet as far as deals go except on your blog, and by Saturday I am usually done shopping for the week. Thank you for sharing your deals.

  4. Hi Anonymouse - That not a bad idea. I also love to see what other people are planning to buy. I put together my grocery shopping list on Wed. night or Thurs. morning. SNS has trained all of us in St Louis to shop on Thursdays.

I'll see if I can fit in a post about my shopping plans on Wed. and see if readers will chime in on what their plans are for the week also.

  6. Hi Cassie - I love Girl Scout Thin Mints, but I though the ice cream was only so-so. My husband and son had not problem finishing off the carton. But, the Samoa ice cream was even better than the cookies!
