Shop 'n Save Deals: 10/11/10 - 10/16/10
There is new restrictions on the General Mills Catalina deal this week that I've never seen before - "Minimum purchase requirement calculated after manufacturer coupons." I have no idea if Shop 'n Save has reprogrammed their computers to trigger the Catalina coupon after coupons. If you have already done this deal, or if you shop early on Thursday, please leave a comment on what your experienced.
UPDATE: A reader already shopped the GM Catalina Deal.. She purchase $25 in GM products, use $10 of GM coupons, and still received her $10 in Catalina coupons. Looks like we don't have to fret about the new wording on this offer. Thanks, Nicole!
$10 off $50 purchase, Thursday 10/14/10
No coupon necessary - $10 will automatically be deducted from your total when you spend $50 before coupons.
Take a look at this week's ad HERE.
Remember:1. $10 off $50 purchase this Thursday (with a few restrictions listed in the ad)
2. Shop 'n Save does not double coupons.
3. Shop 'n Save accepts internet printable coupons up to 50% of the product retail price. (** I've noted coupons that are over 50% of the sale price in the match-ups.) Take a look at Shop 'n Save Internet Printable Coupon Acceptance Policy.
4. Thursday price - purchase right at $50 of groceries and save 20% before coupons.

Hi Jeri--I just emailed you regarding the GM promo wording. And someone answered the question in the Schnucks thread to reflect they did buy $26 before coupons then used coupons and did receive the catalina. HTH =)
ReplyDeleteThe Farmland pre-cooked bacon is $2.00 this week and I did confirm there is a coupon match. IMHO, pre-cooked bacon isn't something to serve up for breakfast.
ReplyDelete$2 - 1 = $1.00
$2 * .8 = $1.60 - 1 = $.60 Thursday price
Hi All-There is a catalina deal on the Del Monte canned vegies/fruits, B4G$.50, B5G$1.50 and B6+G$2.
ReplyDeleteAlso a double dip on the Betty Crocker Frosting/GM Promo: Buy 2 Betty Crocker Frosting get $1 Cat back.
Also DD: Nature Valley Granola Bars:B3G$1.50, B4G$2.50 and B5+G$3.50.
Also DD: Betty Crocker Fruit Snacks: B3G$1, B4G$2 and B5G$3.
And do not forget McCormick Spices & Extracts: B2G$1.50 and B3G$3. Some are running $1.50 this week.
I have not tried these yet but will tomorrow. HTH =)
Hi All--Also included in the GM promo is Cinnamon Toast Crunch Cereal they are $2 also and there is a -1/1 in the Better at Home booklet. =) Lots of good ideas for this one =) Who has some plans ready? Lets see them =)
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone think GM stacks like it did before? So if you buy $50, do you get two $10 cats? That would be ideal :)
ReplyDeleteTo Anon who did the GM deal on Progresso soup last Monday, I just want to know how much was the total amount of the coupons you used for this deal? TIA.
ReplyDeleteHi couponmama--Not sure about stacking but would really like to know also and as reported in the Schnucks thread the GM promo will produce 2 x $5 Cats back. I was wondering if they state "only one $5 can be used at a time"?
ReplyDeleteThe cinnamon toast crunch would be a great deal--we go through like 2 boxes a week of that!!
ReplyDeleteIf you get:
12 boxes of cinnamon toast crunch @$2= $24; 1 gg bib veggies = $1=$25-20% Thursday discount=$20-12 $1 BAH CTC coupons-.50 IP GG veggies=7.50-$10 cat = $2.50 MM
Oooh! I can't wait to get my plan together! Thanks for all you do!
ReplyDeleteHi couponmama---hehehehehehehehe =) Gotta run and check CTC stock today. And do not forget the Pillsbury Sweet Moments maybe not a MM but yummy =)
ReplyDeleteMuch thanks, Ms. Jeri for the coupon match-up! Thanks a bunch, Janet for the add'l Double Dipping info. :)
ReplyDeleteAlso, any combination of OEP Refried Beans, GG BIB veggies, and Progresso bread crumbs to reach 25 items = $25
ReplyDelete-20% discount = $20
-25 .50 coupons (if you can round up this many coupons)
=7.50 -$10 cat =$2.50 MM
As Janet said, Sweet Moments:
10 Sweet Moments @2.50= $25 - 20% discount = $20-$10 coupons-$10 cat= Free
On the BC cake and frosting, if you can round up enough other items to make $25, it's a great deal. Buy 2 BC supermoist cakes @ $1; 2 BC Frostings @1.50= $5 - 20% discount =4-1.50 coupons-$1 cat= $1.50 or .38 an item (before GM discount.
Del Monte Veggies
Buy 6 @ .80= 4.80 - 20% discount= 3.84-$1 coupon-$2 cat= .84 for 6 or .14 each
Also,
ReplyDelete24 Progresso Soup @1+ 1 progresso BC@1 =$25 -20% discount = $20-8 $1/3 BAH coupons - .50 IP progresso BC= $11.50 - $10 cat= $1.50 for 25 items or .06 each!!
couponmama, you keep on rattling on everytime I reload the page. hehehe. Thanks a lot for sharing your great "deal plans"! :)
ReplyDeleteMy SnS GM ad page is full of notations now--encircled, what coupon inserts, additions & subtractions. hehehe.
Hi All--I just got back from SNS and you guys are coming up with some good ones--hehehehehe
ReplyDeletePeelies for the B/C Potato instant pouches -$.50/2 **these were on the B/C Potato boxes I bought in the last promo.
I checked CTC & Sweet Moments stock and double checked soda prices to use up some any mixer WTs =) Yikes--I better get to written out some more plans =)
My husband might kill me if I buy any more instant potatoes or hamburger helper....even if it's a money maker lol
ReplyDeleteThat was fast, Janet! You're in Illinois, right? Your SnS store must be your neighbor. :)
ReplyDeleteHi coupon.girl--Yep in IL and yes it was quick--I had my list of things to check and questions to ask--all was good.
ReplyDeletecouponmama--think about donating some of the goods--many families are going to be in need with the holidays coming fast. =)
couponmama,
ReplyDeleteMy mom emailed CS when the ad came out to ask if it would stack and they said it would not, that it was one per transaction, but who knows.
Also, if you can find the Budweiser pizza (buy $10, get $6 reabate)at Schnucks that Gloria posted about in the Schnucks thread, you can get a really great deal with either the Jack's or CPK.
ReplyDeleteThe best deal is buy 4 CPK @ $2.50 each = $10
$10 * .8 = $8.
Use 4 $2 IP = $0, submit $6 rebate = $6MM (minus stamp)
Even if your store won't take the $2 IP, you can use the $1 insert coupons for a $2MM.
There was a blinkie coupon holder for $1 off sweet moments at my SNS earlier in the week.
ReplyDeleteAlso, Cremette pasta is $1, including the Quick Cook variety. There was a .55 coupon for those in a recent sunday paper.
I think this week will make me dizzy trying to plan a trip. I have a few $5 off $50 coupons to use up. Better get to it!
Can anyone tell me if the Crestwood store is coupon friendly? I have several coupons that are over 50% of the price. I have the $1.50 Pillsbury Sweet Moments coupons, $1.00 Yoplait Plus coupons, and the $.50 Old El Paso coupons.
ReplyDeleteThanks,
Will
Hi All - Sorry I've been so slow posting and responding to comments. My computer has the slowwwwws and my computer Doctors (hubby and 15 year-old) haven't been able to help. I hope I don't have to wait until Thanksgivng for my oldest to come home to get my spead up.
ReplyDeleteKas - Thanks for the Farmland match-up. I didn't even look for a coupon on the Pre-Cooked Bacon because it's only 2.1 oz package. But then again, after you cook regular bacon you might not get more than 2.1 oz to eat.
Janet - Thanks for the additional Cat info.
Couponmama - Thanks for the scenarios. When I first saw SNS's ad, I though oh no I've got enough GM products, but now will all these great scenarios ...... I take the noddles out of the Hamburger Helper boxes and pitch the packet of stuff.
JB - Thanks for the info from CS on stacking. I'm with you - who really knows until someone tries it.
Marcella - Thanks for the info on Creamette Quick Cook.
Will - I've shopped at the Crestwood store a few times and have never had a problem with coupons. But I can't remember if I've ever used a coupon over 50% of the sale price. I know I have quite a few readers who shop there. Hopefully, someone will have a better answer for you.
Ooh Jeri, awesome idea of taking the noodles out of the HH. We actually like some varieties of it, but never seem to have the ground beef around. LOL. We are a chicken eating family. But we do go through bajillions of pasta, so I will have to keep that in mind when it is free or super cheap--probably cheaper than buying the pasta on its own.
ReplyDeleteAm now REALLY WISHING the GM Cat. stacks. We don't need a lot of $25 worth of non-GM products to reach the $50 total for Coupon Thursday. :(
ReplyDeleteWhen I'm short on the $50 mark I always buy charcoal. Its $8.66 for the big bag and we will always use charcoal. Plus there was a recent coupno for $2-3 off meat when you buy Kingsford. Nice filler/double dip.
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone know if SNS sells fruitables drinks? Recent coupon out for them and my kiddo loves them, but the only place I remember finding them was Walmart and I don't really shop there much since I've been couponing.
ReplyDeleteAll these deals are making me so sad that I could never locate the Better at Home coupon books...but, there's always next time. Maybe I can pull something together without those or extra copies of the paper. (Somehow it's hard to jump back in full force after taking a few weeks off the heavy couponing.)
ReplyDeleteMarcella--I was thinking the same thing about the charcoal. I have the coupon sitting out for "in-store scenario". Kelly
ReplyDeleteWould the Nature Valley Granola Bars be included in the $10 Cat deal if they aren't shown in the ad?
ReplyDeleteI usually dont participate in $10 off Thursday at SNS but I enjoy everyone's excitement and conversations. Have fun tomorrow, everyone!
ReplyDeleteI did my SNSing today - Coffeemate for .17 (no problem using my $1.50 printable) and .97 for cat litter.
Crestwood SNS is hit or miss on coupon-friendly cashiers. There is one I find to be friendly..she is a younger, thin, dark-haired, gal with cute glasses. I find her to be pleasant. I hope that helps. :)
ReplyDeletepsa: gm does not stack =(
ReplyDeletekas Where did you find the $1 Farmland bacon coupon? Thanks in advance
ReplyDeleteThere is a column of 5 Farmland coupons in the 10/3/10 SS insert. Both the P-D and Journal MQs are near the back of the insert and the precooked bacon one is second from the bottom.
ReplyDeleteNow I had problem locating the item and even the butcher on duty couldn't find any. But, like OM precooked bacon, look for a free standing display and not where the regular bacon is stock.
The other night, I spotted 1 lb. rolls of taco flavored ground turkey @$1 in an open (cold) floor case. The $.55 MQ from the 9/26/10 SS insert will make the Farmland Frozen Breakfast Link @$1 either $.45 or $.25 on Thursday.
kas THANKS! I had tried a couple coupon lists I use and did not find Farmland listed on either one.
ReplyDeleteI have not tried this brand of precooked bacon, but did use Oscar Mayer once. I got about 15 slices, and it worked well as an ingredient in salads or casseroles. Sixty cents is a good price. Thanks also for the info about the breakfast links.
I shopped at midnight and purchased $25 worth of General Mills items and used $10 in General mills coupons. I still got the $10 in catalinas (2 $5 cats).
ReplyDeleteThanks for the info Nicole!
ReplyDeleteI didn't get a $2 cat on either of my trips buying 6 del Monte veggies
ReplyDeletemy $2 ipqs for cpq went through without a hitch
I'm going to need to search for cat's number. Has it printed for anyone else?
Hi Kelly - Thanks for your update.
ReplyDeleteCatalinas # is (877) 210-1917, option 1. They won't have the scan data for about 24 hours, I would wait a day or two before I gave them a call.
When I called them before it was a few days after I shopped and they were able to tell me on the phone that my puchases quailified for the Cat.
I got the $10 cat on my first deal, but not my second. Maybe the Cinnamon Toast Crunch wasn't included? That is the only questionable item in my $25. I didn't ask about it either since the wording said after coupons, I figured I didn't have much of a leg to stand on.
ReplyDeleteEven without the cat, I still got $102 worth of groceries for $40 - not bad.
Hi, Megan. If it's not much trouble to you, you could go to the Customer Service and ask them about it. If they said it's because of the coupons, just get more GM items to cover the amount of coupons you use. $10 Cat.Q is $10. ;)
ReplyDeleteHi All--Megan the Cinnamon Toast Crunch IS included-I have done this several times and rec'd the cats each time--Make sure you bought the ones 2/$4.00. HTH =)
ReplyDeleteThanks coupongirl and Janet - I just looked at my receipt again and it looks like I bought the wrong multi-grain cheerios, I got the 9 oz at 2/$5 and it says the bigger box was on sale. I am going to go back and look at the shelf though, I know it was stocked right above the 2/$4 tag. That is the second time that has happened to me at our sns - drives me crazy!
ReplyDeleteI went to the Kirkwood store this morning. They were completely out of the Yo-Plus yogurt. Also, I could not find the Farmland sausage links that were supposed to be $1. I asked and they told me they didn't carry them. I did find the precooked bacon for $2 though.
ReplyDeleteIf anyone is buying meat and saved the $2.50 off meat when you buy 5 Knorr side dishes that was in the ad a few weeks ago (it doesn't expire until Dec.), they were on sale for $1. There were also coupons for $1/3 in a box by the pasta. (but they didn't have it by the rice dishes which are in a separate aisle, so look both places). Can make a really good deal.
Also, tic tacs by the registers were $1. There was a $.75 coupon from a few weeks ago. Makes them $.05 after the 20% and a great filler if you need a little something to get you to $50.
I also didn't get the Del Monte cat. Does anyone know if we should have gotten it? Will it help to call and ask about it or was SNS not participating in that promotion? Thanks.
Finally, my cashier noticed the $1.50 coffeemate coupon and called CS. They said I could use it. My other cashier didn't even question the CPK coupon. Overall, I have found Kirkwood to be a very coupon friendly store.
Is everyone getting the $10 cat for spending $25 before coupons. I have it planned out to spend $26 before coupons. I hope it works.
ReplyDeleteMonday Shopper-
ReplyDeleteGood day! Over $50 worth of stuff spent 90 cents OOP I started with $20 worth of CATs walked away with $14.50 in CATs and $1.60 in cash (my cat for the hamburger helpers didn't print again so CS gave me $1.60 because she said she processed it like it was a MC I was like "Cool!" so really I guess less than $5 for everything....
Tracy--definitely works with coupons. Just doublecheck what items you select--right sizes, flavors. Some progressos do not have the 10/10 tag and I bought the crunchy NV bars (3.33)and they didn't work. CS will always help you correct mistakes, though, if you ask. Del Monte is not working. Kelly
ReplyDeleteTwin Oaks had awesome coupons posted by the Saltines (near an endcap). Save $1.00 on soup/chili/tuna when you buy Zesta saltines. Some Kripsy saltines had peelies on them to $1/1 Krisy saltine (1.98 a box). I gave them to my mom to take to Dierbergs today (1.49, then save $1 off Progresso soup, plus instant $6 savings off GM promo). Kelly
ReplyDeleteI spent $26.72 on GM products before coupons and did not get the catalina from my High Ridge sns.
ReplyDeleteBut I still feel like I did good.
del monte did not work for me either
ReplyDeleteI did the GM deal 3 times today & it worked everytime :)
ReplyDeleteThanks all for your helpful posts! I have been lurking and learning for the last few weeks and today was my first day feeling like I'm starting to get a handle on this! I love how SNS's receipts break down the savings - a total of 76% today. I was so shocked! Of course there was the $10 off $50, but then I had a $5 off $50 (from the Entertainment coupon books) which gave $15 off of $50 right off the bat. Between coupons, catalinas, and stacking catalinas, I am flabbergasted! I know the Cinnamon Toast Crunch is a money maker but I bought Cheerios (and yes, it was confusing which ones were on the 2/$4 because the label was below the smaller boxes on the shelf!) I took heed of the "$25 after coupons" minimum and got some frozen veggies to make sure I had enough GM products. The del monte veg cat did not work for me, though. I thought I'd seen it posted on the shelf and may go back tomorrow to talk to customer service.
ReplyDeleteThanks to you all - I am so happy to be learning from you!
Debra
I want to see Janet's haul from this week! She's my hero.
ReplyDeleteI didn't get the Del Monte cat either but still not too bad. I spent $28 and got $15 in cats back. The South Lindbergh store is the place to go on coupon Thursdays b/c everything was in stock. Its a bigger store with wider aisles (very important on thursdays esp if you bring 3 kids with you). I normally go to crestwood but I think I might go to this store on thursdays. They had plenty of everythign I was looking for, including yogurt and creamette (which btw do NOT cook in 3 minutes lol).
I think Janet must be resting from yesterday! She sounded very busy.
ReplyDeleteHi All - What a day at SNS. I think I do OK saving money shopping, but I'm a mere amature compared to Janet. I've learned alot from her.
ReplyDeleteFor everyone who thinks they should have recieved a Catalina coupon and didn't, contact Catalina Marketing. (877) 210-1917, option 1.
Give Catalina a day or so, they will have the scan data and be able to tell if you should have receive the coupon.
Good Morning to All--Thank you for your kind words =) It sounds like everyone had a great day. I had a couple miner problems but all was good in the end. My hats off to all the Shop n Save employees, as I was in line I watched as these ladies/gents did an amazing job with the other customers =) I did not take pics this time but I always do a final tally sheet-I will type later-have to clean up my house-been on the go again since I got up. =) The back seat of my truck is FULL with items to drop off at the food pantry and I still have to load some more. =)
ReplyDeleteRemember next Thursdays a gooooood day also =)
Talk to ya soon =)
I took my dad with me last night because he was in town and I had to go to the store late, and bc of some scary incidents (this IS st. louis!) I get nervous going alone. He was totally amazed at my shopping. I did two transactions (totally bummed I didn't have time to do more, it was a crazy day for me yesterday) and spent $22 OOP and have $13 more in cats(probably spent a little less b/c I bought a gift card). Before couponing I would have had a heart attack if I bought that much groceries for so little, but believe it or not, I felt like it was a bad coupon day for me lol.
ReplyDeleteAfternoon to All-been a busy day, taking a break and wanted to get this out to you guys. I had to double check on Wednesday the stock of the Cinnamon Toast Crunch Cereal and asked about my large purchases then and rec'd an ok on what I wanted to do. =) My major purchases included the CTC cereal and Progresso Soups for donation purposes and because I had the best coupons to work these items. So please remember this is 12 trips(a record) and two of the best stores.

Hi Janet - Wow! I'm sure your food pantry is very happy. Great job and fantatic donation.
ReplyDeleteJanet, I think you should host a "shop with janet" event!! OMG I'd love to shadow you at SNS!! You are an inspiration.
ReplyDeleteTruly amazing, Janet! Your planning really pays off. Kelly
ReplyDeleteJanet just wondering. How do you get the packs of soda so cheap? I would think that many packs of soda. Would raise your price well past the 13.15 you spent. Any secrets you would like to share :)
