If you haven't shopped at Aldi, or it has been a while:
1. Make sure you have a quarter to unlock a shopping cart. The carts are like luggage carts at the airport. You rent them for a quarter, and you get your quarter back when you return the cart.
2. Take your own bags. Aldi does not provide free bags for your groceries.
3. Aldis now accepts debit cards.
4. Aldis does not accept coupons

  1. Are strawberries ever lower than $0.99/lb during the year? I'd like to stock up and freeze a bunch for jams but I'd like to get the best price possible and I'm in no hurry (I have at least 7 jars of homemade jam in the freezer right now!). :)

  2. I've never seen strawberries priced this low before (well, except the farmer's market where the quality is less than adequate. I believe there are bumper crops in California hence the low prices.) I'd definitely consider this a stock up price; it may even be cheaper than 'pick your own' places where I typically get strawberries for jam.

  3. Hi Courtney - I checked the Adli archives. They sold strawberries faily regularly for .99 through June last year. One week they were priced 88 cents. I bought some yesterday. They were Dole brand and not the best berries. The no name brand last week were much better.

Hi Melissa - I've heard about the bumper crop too. I don't think I've ever gotten strawberries at a pick your own place for any where close to .99 lb. But, they are better.

  6. I bought some Aldi strawberries yesterday. They were not a brand I recognized, but they were really good! I only had one in the whole box that was a little soft, which is better than I usually get at the other grocery stores!

  7. Hi Courtney - Aldi had Dole brand of strawberries in on Sunday. They looked great but were too hard and not much flavor. I usually like the no name brands better - they taste to me more like home grown.
