Walgreens Deals - Week of 4/25/10

Sale prices good April 25 to May 1, 2010

Bayer Glucose Monitors are triggering a Register Reward again this week: $10 Register Reward with purchase of monitor for $19.99. The coupon for up to $30 in the 10/25/09 RP would make this a $10 money-maker. But, the ad states: available to uninsured patients and patients whose meters are not covered by insurance or a discount program. It doesn't look to me like this deal is meant for a couponer without diabetes.

I highlight only the best deals. Take a look at Walgreens' full ad HERE.

  1. There was a 2.00 off Skintimate coupon card in my April Cosmopolitan. So, a $2.00 money maker :)

  2. I got the same message from Tone, so this coupon must've reached its limit

  3. There is also a Starbucks ice cream coupon ($1/2) in the new Walgreens coupon book for May. Trish in W'ville

  4. Jeri--I did use the -5/2 Sudafed/Benadryl MQ on Thursday and did receive the $5.00 RR. HTH

  5. I had an arguement with a checker at Walgreens today about Manny vs Walgreens coupons. I used a $2 pull up coupon in the April book and it wouldn't take the manny afterwards. I had to leave, go to another Walgreens and give them the manny then hand over the walgreens coupon. They claimed the April book had manufacture coupons in it. Since when is that the case? Annoying.

  6. BOTH of the Walgreens I usually go to said the same thing about the Wags Monthly Q books. They said you can't stack them with a manu Q because they ARE manu Qs. I tried to contact the corporate office and got an email back saying "ask the manager at the store". Alot of help THAT was, huh?

  7. Am having the same problem with stacking the Wags booklet coupon with Man. coupons. Cashiers and managers claim they are both manufacturer's coupon as it says on the coupons on the booklet. :(

  8. Thanks, Jenny B for the heads up on the Cosmo coupon.

Thanks, Anonymous for letting me know the Tone coupon must no longer be available.

  9. Hi Trish, I haven't picked up the May coupon book yet at Walgreens. I'm reading on other blogs the $1/2 Starbucks coupon is for Frappuccino.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Thanks, Janet! That Sudafed/benadryl coupon sure caused problems.

  11. I didnt get a Plackers coupon in last week's RP. Did anyone else?

    ReplyDelete
  12. Hi Marcella - The coupons in Walgreens monthly coupon book are not manufacturer coupons. Walgreens does not submit them for reinbursement.

But, if you look at the fine print, they say manufacturer coupon.

Since around the first of the year, I've gotten comments on my blog relaying the same problems you had. When I've tried to contact Walgreens corporate, all they have done is refer me back to the store.

My only suggetion. Don't shop for anything at a Walgreens that will not let you stack a copuon from the monthy book and a manufacturer coupon.

I haven't shopped at a Walgreens in over a month. I'm just to weary of the problems that arise, even though I haven't had too many myself, you never know what they will accept and what they won't.

  13. Hi CJ - I got it in the papers I bought and the paper deliverd on Sunday. It is on the second to last page.

  14. I haven't found any of the candy bars this morning. If you still have the B1G1 coupon for Reach floss you can score some free floss this week.
    Buy 2 @3.99
    coupon B1G1 -3.99
    Wags $2off -4.99
Make sure to give the manuf coupon first and then the store coupon.

  15. The Wags $2 off should be -4.00. Not sure what I did.

  16. Thanks, Linda!

I was stopping at Walgreens yesterday to see if I could find some good deals with the coupons in their ad when that big storm hit. After detouring around downed trees, flooded streets having to run through the rain because of a flooded street in front of our house, I forgot all about going back to check for deals. What an afternoon!

  17. Jeri - Thanks, I see the Plackers coupon now. They hid it amongst all the crappy ads at the back that I never look at.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Check your Plackers pkgs one of mine had a 25 cent off your next purchase coupon.

  19. Sorry about the sbux coupon- it is for the drinks. BUT, when I went this am, I had a catalina coupon for SBUX ice cream print out during my 2nd transaction, and they did say it was a WAGS coupon so I was allowed to stack it. Lots of folks are having trouble with the sudafed, mine didn't print out today, but the manager gave me one. Trish

  20. I got Stayfree, 2 Soft Soaps (fillers), Plackers, Scotch packaging tape and Tone today. Paid $3.72 after coups and $5 in RRs, and got back $8 in RRs. The cashier said I should give classes in how to use coupons. I wish I could have remembered the URL to this site, I would have told her to come here for all she needs to learn! I'll get more Stayfree, Kotex, Tone and Reach later this week.

  21. Thanks Jeri,

had a successful trip to Wags today...free stayfree, dental floss & packaging tape(& we use lot of that....2 movings in past 3 years)...i'll try to go back for some more tape...

    ReplyDelete
  22. Thanks so much - I had lots of fun at Walgreens - free stayfree, dental floss, tone, skintimates, tape for shipping (my favorite this week) and a few thousand dollar candy bars as fillers. Yeah! I haven't found any yet, but I read on Hip 2 Save that the $.50 Halmark kid cards produce a $5RR if you buy 8.

  23. WOW...so many postings that I don't know what to think about WAGS...it always seems to boil down to the cashier and possibly the manager...they really need to adopt a more universal policy.

I had a cashier mess up my Scotch manuf couons paired with the Wags ad...got another cashier who then clarified it with the Manager and they adjusted the man coupon to .99.

There just never seems to be any rhyme or reason to the flow of coupon use at WAGS...some days are good and some days are challenging!!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Sounds like everyone had successful trips to Walgreens. That is sure good to hear.

  25. I have been having problems stacking coupons at Wags also. I finally called corporate and they said the manager would call me. I went in to Wags and showed him that the booklets are actually NOT true manufacturers coupons. They all start with a bunch of zeros (000000). He said well I never realized that. I showed him several Manufactureres coupons and they almost ALL start with a 5. He said, well you taught me something today and I will have to train my cashiers. I gave him a mini tutorial on proper coupon redemption. I am just sick of the cashiers looking at me like I am doing something illegal by trying to use a Wags coupon and a Manufacturers coupon. Hopefully things will go better at this Wags now!

  26. Am impressed Anonymous! Will you go to Wags Hampton cor Chippewa and to Wags Kingshighway cor Chippewa, and train the managers and cashiers there also?? They won't believe me. :(

    ReplyDelete
  27. Hi Anonymous - I'm impressed too. It would be nice if all managers would listen like your manager.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Thanks to Anonymous for the insight! Would you please post the proper redemption method for those who either need a refresher or a lesson in redemption order!

It is wonderful how we all help one another. Maybe we should all meet for coffee some morning?

  29. Hi my name is Laurie and I am the "anon" from above. I wasn't sure how to post my name. This whole thing started because the week before you might recall the Pecan Sandies cookie deal. I left the store because the assistant manager was called over after the last coupon beeped and the cashier rolled his eyes and said I could not do this deal because the cookies would only end up being 50cents a package. The assistant manager came over and said something like "well the register beeped and that means we just cannot do this deal". I left the items and then called corporate. So when I went back to speak to the manager and explained the numbers on the coupons he said I will give you the pecan sandies deal from last week. I said ring the manufacturers coupons first and then the Wags coupon. He did this and of course the deal worked perfectly, no beeps. Then I said "just indulge me for a minute and ring this deal with your Wags coupon first and then the Manufacturers coupon." He said OK and of course the register beeped. He could not believe that it actually made a difference and you should have seen the look on his face. He said "I will definitely be talking to my cashiers and do a training session." I told him I want his cashiers and assistant manager to become "can do" people to see how they can help the customer instead of being antagonistic to those of us who for financial reasons need to be smart shoppers. I pointed out to him that it looks good for his store if more merchandize goes out the door AND his people will stay employed. In the present economy in this state (NJ) I would think people would value their jobs.
I had problems with an assistant manager at another Wags nearby a few months ago. I called corporate and told them that I wanted that assistant manager trained properly in coupon redemption and then I said I wanted him to call me personally at home and tell me what he would do to remedy the situation if it happened again. The store manager called me and after I told her what had happened she had him call me and now this man is a CAN DO type of assistant manager and we have a good relationship. I am a persistant bugger I have to admit but I just cannot tolerate being looked at like I am some kind of a petty crook when I am doing nothing illegal! Just because there are those of us who are smart shoppers (thanks to all the great blogs) and we know more than the people working at Wags doesn't mean we are wrong! Happy shopping to all of you :)

  30. I am so excited about the stayfree being free this week. My daughter is a teacher and she keeps them in her closet for the girls that need them. Some of them can't afford to buy them so I am so happy to be able to help her and them out. She will go and buy them so it saves her also.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Laurie - WOW! Can you come to MO and train all the Wags employees here? Way to go!

Today I bought Tone, Scotch packaging tape, Zingers and Wylers (fillers), and U by Kotex. Used $3 in coupons and handed over $5 in RRs. Somehow the RRs only took off $3.99 instead of $5. I paid $3.90 OOP and then returned the Kotex because it didnt produce a RR so my OOP was .13! I had no idea it was gonna be that low when I started! Guess that makes up for the 15 minutes waiting in line to get the refund. I wish I could get the $1 back for the RRs that didnt ring up right but seeing as I only paid .13, I guess that wouldnt work. Walgreens is always an adventure!

  32. Everyone, as a reminder...always, if possible, opt for checking out at the cosmetic counter. You will feel less hurried with coupon use and there usually is not a line of customers.

Thanks Laurie for the insight. I wish I could share my 50cent Pecan Sandies with you when you needed them! (I had no problems with the deal, fortunately.)

  33. Has anyone found the Clio trimmers? I looked around in the beauty tools aisle and in the aisle with the razors. Didn't see them. Also, the Wags I went to today did not have any Stayfree priced at $2.99 much less with a tag about register rewards.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Hi Anon above, I found the trimmers right below the shaving gels on the very bottom shelf at my wags. They only had about 8 yesterday. I got one and I like it :) I also got the Schick Quatro Titanium 3 pack of mens razors on sale for 5.99 and used the $4.00 off coupon from the 3/21 SS (i think) and out popped a 3 RR and a 1 RR. The razors weren't tagged on sale, but I checked at the registers and it rung up on sale. You can double check if it's on sale at a register in case you don't see it tagged on sale.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Thanks Laurie for sharing your experience. Your persistant bugging pays off.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Way to go Laurie for sticking up for yourself!

Anon above, I had to ask where the trimmers were and in that store they were in the special beauty aisles right behind the grocery cart. Kristen

    ReplyDelete
  37. The clio at 3 stores I visit were in the locked case of "expensive"/electric razors above the rest of the shaving stuff. They were marked at 7.99 w/out a sticker for the sale or RRs, but they did ring correctly. (At other stores they were on the bottom row beneath the other razors.)

  38. Just wanted to say that the $4 off schick disposable coupon is working for the Hydro!

  39. Why does Walgreen have to be so difficult somedays? On the way to work today I just wanted to dash into Wags and buy 2 packs of Starbucks. Tried to pay with a $1 coupon from the May booklet and 2 $3 RRs. The RRs wouldnt scan because they didnt print well last week and the cashier said he couldnt just type them in. So he reduced the price and I ended up getting them both for $2.09 total. Why they can reduce the price but cant type in -$6.00 for my coupons, I dont know. The day didnt get any better after that - I got stopped for speeding and I have to work 12 hours without a break. Some days I wonder why I even get out of bed!

  40. Hi CJ - Wow! You did have a bad day. Bad things come in threes, so things should be done with for awhile.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Jeri - I accomplished all that badness before 7am! Too bad I cant accomplish as much goodness that early!
