Aldi Price Check - Grapes, Strawberries, Corn + More

July 25, 2010

Aldi's produce prices used to be the best price you would find, unless an item was on sale at another store. I'm not seeing that happening any more. They still have a few "produce picks" that are a great price, but other than those few items, the prices don't look any better than what you can find elsewhere and sometimes they are higher.

Dose anyone use this list to compare produce prices? If readers aren't interested in the entire list, I will post only the "Produce Picks" and the dairy prices. Let me know what you want to see.

If you haven't shopped at Aldi, or it has been a while:
1. Make sure you have a quarter to unlock a shopping cart. The carts are like luggage carts at the airport. You rent them for a quarter, and you get your quarter back when you return the cart.
2. Take your own bags. Aldi does not provide free bags for your groceries.
3. Aldis now accepts debit cards.
4. Aldis does not accept coupons

If you buy something at Aldi you are not please with, they have a double guarantee. If for any reason, you are not 100% satisfied with any product, they will replace the product AND refund your money. More info HERE.

  1. I only look at the Produce Picks.

  2. I was totally UNimpressed with our local Aldi. The prices were no different than WalMart for one thing, and the store itself felt old and dingy, even though it was relatively new. Much as I dislike Walmart, you really can't beat them for prices.

  3. If it's not so much trouble for you, please continue posting everything on this list. I like to compare prices with this list since there's usually no coupons for these items to use at other stores. Thanks a lot. :)

  4. Thanks Megan & coupon.girl for the feedback.

Maybe the post would be better if I put "produce picks" first and then continue the post like I've always done. If readers are looking for only the great deals they don't have to wade through the rest of the post, but for those who like to compare prices, they still can.

  5. I really benefit from the list. If it's not too much trouble I would love to see you continue posting it. I am a young wife and mother raising a family of 5 on a civil servant's paycheck. I agree, the produce picks might be good to move to the top of the list, but I love the WHOLE list :) Thanks!!!

  6. Hi cici8 - I agree some Aldi's are dingy to me also. I don't stop at the closest store, but drive a little furtuer to a store I like better.

I don't have a Walmart convienent at all to me, so I never go there.

  7. I am officially out of onions. I have been putting off buying them hoping to see the $1.50 3lb. bag again at any stores. Looks like still no luck for me this week. :( Or is there? Cheap priced good onions somewhere? Please leave a comment. Will really appreciate it. :)

  8. Hi Anonymous - I'll continue to post the entire list with "produce picks" at the top of the list.

Hi coupon.girl - I'm about out of onions too. I haven't seen a good price for a long time.

  10. Hi, Ms. Jeri! Hello, Jenny B!

Couldn't wait for very cheap onions anymore so when I was at SnS last Monday, I bought the Farm Fresh yellow onions 3lb. bag. Regular price is $2.48 and up to Saturday, since it's a store brand, I got a 10% off from it. Paid $2.23+ tax.

    Just an FYI. :)

  11. Hi coupon.girl - That's not a bad price for onions. I didn't think about the 10% off on produce. Thanks!
