Shop 'n Save $5 off $50 Coupons

Just a reminder, the $5 off $50 coupon in the 2010 Entertainment Books expire on Sunday, October 31st Monday, November 1st.  If you have any left, you want to use them this weekend.

You can use the coupons to purchase groceries, or a Shop 'n Save Gift Card.

Reader CJ used her expiring $5 off $50 coupons to purchase Shop 'n Save gift cards. She then turned around and used the Shop 'n Save gift cards to purchase gift cards for another retailer.  What a fantastic idea to save 10% off  a gift card.

  1. Jeri - Now that I think about it, I probably could have just used the coupons to buy the Southwest cards instead of buying the SNS cards first, since my total was over $50. I made it a little harder than it needed to be!

  2. Hi CJ - I don't think they would have allowed you to purchase gift cards with the coupon. NON-Shop 'n Save coupon are one of the exlduded items.

I think I just made it sound hard the way I described it

  5. You can also use the gift cards on gas at the SNS gas stations. Use the discount coupon that prints at the register and a discounted gc for a bit of savings on gas!

Oh, and they actually expire on Monday, Nov. 1st. One extra day to get there if you need it. =)

  6. Where are the SNS Gas stations? I've never heard of them!

  7. Hi Staci - I'm with Anonymous, I've never heard of SNS gas stations either.

Thanks for the correct date on the expiration date. As I told coupon.girl, I need a proofreader and it looks like an editor too.

  8. SNS in Edwardsville has a gas station. They have a great reward program....spend $10-$50 in store save .03 a gallon..spend $50-$100 save .06... spend $100+ save .09 well I think that's how it goes!

  9. Jeri - Oh good, I did it right afterall then! I wonder why they dont let you use the coupons to buy SNS cards, but they let you use SNS cards to buy other gift cards? Oh well, however it works is fine by me!

  10. So Jeri you ask for coupons we want you to watch for, I really would like some for the entertainment book. I used all the SNS coupons out of 4 entertainment books a long time ago. I guess I am going to need more this year but so far it isn't looking good to get them cheap.

  11. I would look for schools that sell entertainment books. If you have to pay full price, you might as well support a school! Also, sometimes if they feel stuck with them at the end of their selling period, they will discount them. I heard that from a teacher friend of mine. Might be worth buying one from the school and telling them you would be interested more maybe if they get stuck with them. They have to guarantee a number.

  12. The SNS in St. Ann and St. John both have a gas station. It is a bit inconvenient because you have to go inside, so I will only go there if I don't have the little ones with me. Tiffany's run-down is correct, it is a progressively higher discount based on how much you spend and I think the coupon that prints doesn't expire for two weeks.

There are lots of great ways to get the Entertainment books for a good price starting in a few months. I am going to try to get one with RR next week and then I will also check eBay for just the SNS Qs. Entertainment.com will start to mark the books down in a few months and when you combine the discount with rebate programs like shopathome, ebates, fatwallet, etc., they can be purchased at a pretty good price. I usually end up paying around $9-10 for the ones I buy online.

  13. My daughter is a choir teacher and they are always selling them. I usually buy one from her but if they don't sale them they have to go back. They can't discount them.

  14. Hi All

Lynda - Entertainment books will go on sale several times between now and the first of the year at Walgreens & CVS. Grow your RR and ECB with their money-makers and use them to buy your books.

Staci - I agree with you. People shouldn't feel like they have to go out and purchase a bunch of Entertainment books right now. There will be good deals as time goes on.

  15. I just need to vent somewhere.......I went to use my rain check at SNS for the TGIF sliders today and the lady tells me the sliders weren't part of the 4/10 when i clearly remember they were. She calls over someone whom i assume was a manager and he says "they were 6 dollars" basically saying i'm lying and that he has to call the main office on monday to check. Does anyone have a receipt from that week that bought sliders they could pass my way? I am so mad that i almost want to stop shopping at SNS.

  16. Were the sliders in the weekly ad? If so maybe someone here still has the ad and can look it up.

  17. they weren't pictured..the ad just said tgif appetizers..but when i went to get some out off the case they were sold out and i looked at the tag and it listed the sliders...

  18. Sadina - I didn't buy any because they were gone by Thursday, but I do remember them with a 4/$10 sign when I scouted prices earlier that week.

    Keep us posted what happens.

  19. I used my TGIF rain check on the Sliders this Thursday at the Crestwood store. I used the Farmers' Market $10/$50, a $5/$50, and the $2 coupon to make it a great deal! I love it when they pay me to take food out of the store! In fact, my total was -13 cents. (I had changed a few things at the last minute, and it threw off my math.) The clerk said she could not pay me. I laughed and said that was fine! Out the door I went with a big grin!

  20. If you have the 5/50 exp Monday, you can use an entertainment book as part of your 50. The old ones did not exclude them. The new ones do however.
Just some additional info in case anyone cares n:)

Thanks, Tonya - I only had the 2011 coupon to look at to see the exclusions.
