I'm over budget again this week. I'm glad I have plenty of money in my splurge funds to make up the difference.
Shop 'n Save
Of course, I shopped on $10 off $50 Thursday, used a $5 off $50 coupon from the Entertainment book, plus I had $14 in Catalinas from last week. When you start with $29 off, it's not too hard to save a ton of money at Shop 'n Save. Before sales & coupons: $79.94
Spent: $4.10
Saved: $75.84 for a 95% savings
Schnucks (2 trips)
I've been wanting to get out of that bad habit of catching the last few days of the Schnucks sale, and then shopping again during the week. But this week, when I realised I was out of chicken, I needed to get to Schnucks before last week's sale was over.
Before sales & coupons: $110.04
Spent: $41.88
Saved: $68.16 for a 62% savings
Aldi
Comparable Schnucks price: $21.30Spent: $10.12
Saved: 11.18 for a 52% savings
Weekly Totals
Before sales & coupons: $211.28
Spent: $56.10
Saved: $155.18 for a 73% savings
Year To Date
Spent: $2,047.91 ($40 weekly average)
Saved: $7,420.48 ($145 weekly average
Splurge Funds: $137.97
For those who don't read my blog on a regular basis, my splurge funds are the difference between what I've actually spent and my $50 budget. I use it for those items I never find on sale, don't have coupons for, or when I'm over budget.
Another great week of shopping Jeri. I wish at the end of the year you would do a comparisson of how you have done the last three years.
ReplyDeleteGreat Job!
ReplyDeleteHi Lynda - I started couponing October 2008 and didn't start to keep track of my numbers until April 2009. I looked back through the archive and found my 2009 spending
ReplyDeleteApril - Decmber 2009
Spent: $1725.13 ($45 weekly average)
Saved: $7724.76 ($172 weekly average)
It's interesting to look at the numbers. I spend more per week but also saved more. I wonder if it's becuase of my stockpile or if the deal aren't as good? Something to ponder, but I was feeding my oldest until he left for school in September.
Thanks, Nora! Thanks for stopping by.
Jeri:
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing this every week. I plan to keep better track of my grocery spending and saving next year. I don't do as well as you, but I have 3 young children. I plan to continue reading your blog as well as cut down on trips to the store to add money to our pockets and time to spend with the family!
Hi Lisa - Most of the stores make it easy to figure your savings because it's on the receipt. I love that Schnucks now includes this info on their reciepts. Now, we need Dierbergs to get on the bandwagon.
ReplyDeleteAt SnS, I noticed that Kahiki bag is on sale for $4.98. If I remember right it is still "on sale" this week. There's a B3G1 Free up to $8 IPQ at Kahiki's site and there's a $1 IPQ at coupons.com area code 22222 and if you have been buying Kahiki products, you should have gotten $2/2 on any Kahiki Catalina coupon.
ReplyDeleteIt would have been better if we could have bought this on Coupon Thursday but someone out there might be craving for Chinese dinner. :)
4 x $4.98 = $19.92
Less B3G1 IPQ $4.98
Less $1 IPQ
Less $2/2 Cat. Q
Equals $11.94 or $2.98 per bag.
Kahiki "boxes" are also on sale for $2 and the coupons I mentioned above can also be used on them. :)
Thanks, coupon.girl!
