Aldi Price Check - Grapefruit, Oranges + More

January 2, 2011

Overall I've been happy with the quality of Aldi produce, with two exceptions - bananas and Anjou pears.

The bananas I've bought go from green to looking like they are overly ripe and the Anjou pears never ripen. So even though the pears were dirt cheap this week, I passed.

The prices shown are from the Holly Hills store in St Louis.  Prices and availability vary a bit between stores, but usually the Produce Picks will be the same price throughout the St Louis Metro area.

:: Produce Picks ::

Red Indian River Grapefruit - .35 each
Anjou Pears (28 oz) - .89

If you haven't shopped at Aldi, or it has been awhile:
1. Make sure you have a quarter to unlock a shopping cart. The carts are like luggage carts at the airport. You rent them for a quarter, and you get your quarter back when you return the cart.
2. Take your own bags. Aldi does not provide free bags for your groceries.
3. Aldis now accepts debit cards.
4. Aldis does not accept coupons

If you buy something at Aldi you are not please with, they have a double guarantee. If for any reason, you are not 100% satisfied with any product, they will replace the product AND refund your money. More info HERE.

  1. I don't like Aldis banannas either. I always pick mine up at Sams when I pick up my papers on Sunday.

  2. Hi Lynda - Every time I see someone putting bananas in their cart at Aldi, I want to tell them, "No, don't do it."
