Menu Plan Monday - Week of 1/24/11

Are you a foodie or a get dinner on the table type of person?

I'm a food on the table person.  It's not like I don't like to try different things, but my husband and son much prefer the old stand-by recipes.  I shouldn't complain.  It makes life easy and it's easy on the budget.

Monday: Pasta con Broccoli, garlic bread, fresh pineapple

Tuesday: Steak and Black Bean Chili, biscuits, apple slices with carmel dip

Wednesday: Breakfast as dinner- eggs, sausage, hash browns, juice

Thursday: Chicken Alfredo with linguine, peas, garlic bread

Friday: Pizza, green salad, fresh pineapple

Saturday: Date night

Sunday: Meatloaf, mashed potatoes & gravy, corn, fresh fruit

  1. Just a funny little observation...My 8 year old son tells me last week that his favorite meal (that I cook) is meatloaf. He says he loves it! I have never made meatloaf, because I don't like it. I can only wonder which meal he means???

  2. I am foodie. But, I mainly use what I have in my stockpile. I buy at rock bottom prices and stay within my $50 budget. I don't buy the processed but I dont' buy organic. I tend to buy whole ingredients. I also cook in big batches and put meals away for later.

  4. Both. I get bored and like to make more work for myself than is necessary. I don't know if its a good thing or a character flaw :)

I've started adding meal plan monday to my blog as a way to make sure that I actually plan meals. If its writen down and public then I'm a little beholden to my plan

  5. I tend to eat the same easy meals over and over. For me if a meal takes longer to prepare than it does to eat it, it's too much trouble!

We had your Pasta con Broccoli tonight too! My girls got a kick out of knowing that Miss Jeri's family was having the same thing we were. This was my second time making it and I have tweaked the original to where it is perfect for our family. Thanks so much for introducing us to this easy and delicious recipe!

  7. Hi Lisa - Maybe your son's had meatloaf at grandma's house and just forgot where.

I too always disliked meatloaf, at least the way my mom made it. When I got married, I learned it was my husbands favorite meal. What?

I've found a recipe that I actually like. email me if you need it to make meatloaf for your son.

  8. Hi Rhonda - I would love some ideas too. I'm getting bored with the same old think. But remember with me, it has to be quick and easy.

Hi Marcella - I love my menu plan on my blog. It does make you feel accountable. And I refrence it quite a bit. Sometimes I will look back and see what we were eating a year ago to get some ideas.

Hi CJ - I hate the meals that take longer to clean up than to eat :)

Hi Kelly - Oh, how fun. Having dinner with your family. I tweak the recipe a bit too. I use half & half or 2% milk and lots more mushrooms. A dash of hot sauce kicks up the flavor a bit too.
