Aldi Price Check - Peppers, Mushrooms, Onions + More

February 20, 2011

The freeze in Mexico is really effecting some produce prices. A small, very small head of lettuce this week at Aldi was $1.59. Ouch!  But, I was surprised to see Roma Tomatoes as a Produce Pick.

The prices shown are from the Holly Hills store in St Louis.  Prices and availability vary a bit between stores, but usually the Produce Picks will be the same price throughout the St Louis Metro area.

:: Produce Picks ::

If you haven't shopped at Aldi, or it has been awhile:
1. Make sure you have a quarter to unlock a shopping cart. The carts are like luggage carts at the airport. You rent them for a quarter, and you get your quarter back when you return the cart.
2. Take your own bags. Aldi does not provide free bags for your groceries.
3. Aldis now accepts debit cards.
4. Aldis does not accept coupons

If you buy something at Aldi you are not please with, they have a double guarantee. If for any reason, you are not 100% satisfied with any product, they will replace the product AND refund your money. More info HERE.

  1. Come on --- Aldi's. Read in the nsp last week that one is planned for our town with construction beginning this fall. Looking at these prices, I am eager to shop there. Many of these items don't have coupons for them anyway. So --- come on -- Aldi's. Hurry.

  2. Hi Axiously waiting for Aldi

    I love Aldi for some products. You can't beat their produce picks or dairy prices. But, it kills me to see people paying $2 for a box of cereal there.

  3. Their cheese seems pricey to me also. I usually get my cheese at Schnucks or someplace else when I have a Q. Even Walgreens cheese is sometimes $1.50 for a bag of shredded.

  4. Hi Anonymous - Yes, I rarely buy cheese at Aldi, because I can get a better price at the store with a coupon.

    You do need to compare sizes of packages. The packaging at the store seem to be smaller every time I shop and so far I haven't noticed that at Aldi.

    Aldi is a great place to pick up staples if your out and haven't been able to find a deal at the store.
