does anyone know if the visa or mastercard has an activation fee?
ReplyDeleteHi Sadina,
ReplyDeleteYes they do and normally around $4.95. HTH
=)
Are they ever going to have a $10 off $50 Thursday again???
ReplyDeleteAgreed anonymous I have been patiently awaiting
ReplyDeleteI checked today and the activation fee for a $25 MasterCard or Visa gift card is $3.95. (Higher values have a $4.95 activation fee.)
ReplyDeleteAlso 3 pack Orville Redenbacher popcorn is on sale for $1.77 this week and is part of the ConAgra spend $25 get a $5 Catalina deal. I found tear pads at Schnucks and Dierbergs to buy two popcorns and get two 2-liter sodas (Sunkist, 7Up, A&W, and Canada Dry) free.
thanks Janet
ReplyDeleteThose of you who live in St. Louis and get a free Journal on Saturday. Check in the 1/23 SS for a $1/2 Orville Redenbacher MQ.
ReplyDeleteHi All - Wow, those activation fees are high.
ReplyDeleteThanks, KC for the additional info.
Hi All,
ReplyDelete4 transactions yesterday and 5 today. Plan on 5 tomorrow with the Poppycock and then onto some more Hunts, Rotel, Snack Pack Puddings and H/C Soups. =) How is everyone doing on the ConAgra Cat Deal? Is anyone taking the opportunity to take advantage of this deal? LMK
Wow, Janet, you've been busy! I'm waiting on some $1/3 Hunt's Qs before I can go, but I am planning two trips max. Are you just doing the $25 for the Con Agra deal, or are you doing $50 to use an Ebook Q? Care to share any totals? I may just do $25 on my first run and just buy Hunt's tomatoes, and then do a $50 run on the 2nd trip, use more $1/3 Qs for more tomatoes, my $10 catalina, a $5/50 and pick up some other things we need. That should hold us on tomatoes at least for a few weeks. =)
ReplyDeleteHi All,
ReplyDeleteI noticed in the 2 week ad the Jimmy Dean Fully Cooked Heat & Serve Sausage links are at $1.64, coupons out are 10/31 RP -$1.00/1 and 1/30 RP -$.75/1. Makes for some cheap and good (IMO) sausage. HTH =)
Hi Staci,
ReplyDeleteI have only been doing the ConAgra Deal at a little over $25 each time. I will post a couple scenarios when I get back, gotta change over laundry- them work towels have to be done for tomorrow. BBL
Hi Staci,
ReplyDeleteI like to keep it simple and yesterday I started with the Poppycock cause for me it was a MM.
10 bags Poppycock $25.00
-$20.00 in Salty Snack WTs
=$5.00 + $1.46 tax and Rec'd the $10.00 Cat**gremlin in system but CS printed for me with Peter Pan** I did this 4 times used a GC to pay and have $40.00 in Cats
Then I did:
25 Hunts Tomato $25.00
-$8.00 Hunts Qs
-$10.00 Cat
=$7.00 + .09 tax and Rec'd a new $10 Cat
31 Rotel $25.73
-$7.00 Rotel Qs
-$10.00 Cat
=$8.73 + .15 tax and Red'd a $10 Cat
25 Hunts Snack Pack Pudding $25.00
-$4.80 Hunts Qs
-$10.00 Cat
=$10.20 + .13 tax and Rec'd a $10 Cat
I will do this many times over and keep rolling the cats til I run out of coupons. I have 4 transaction planned for H/C can soups also. Then I will do 6 more rounds of the Poppycock when it arrives. =) And if by chance the Dr Pepper/7Up/Sunkist is producing the Cat, I will be looking at paying under $3.00 for 8 6 pks and receive a $10.00 Cat.
I am having a great/fun shopping week even without a -$10/$50. But if they have one next week and I have all these Cats from this week-I will be stocking the freezer with more meats =) Ok back to the laundry =)
And what are you guys doing?
Hi Janet and Staci - Great shopping!
ReplyDeleteHi Janet! I'm wondering where you put all this stuff, LOL! Sounds like I need to get set up on some of these bigger coupon trading sites so I can get my hands on some of those WTs and other high-dollar Qs. I hope my Hunt's Qs come today so I can get all geared up and ready to go. =)
ReplyDeleteJanet where are you getting the poppy cock coupons and the 1/3 Hunts coupons?
ReplyDeleteGood Morning to All,
ReplyDeleteHi Staci--I am lucky I have a 3500 sq ft house and DH has made part of the basement a store room for our extra items and my seasonal things. I think it is about 15' x 8' and last week he put up a new shelving unit for me just for this ConAgra deal =) But over half of the items are going to donation. =) I hope your Hunts coupons arrived.
Hi Lynda, I have been using Salty Snack WTs that I received from my Coupon Fairy for the Poppycock. The Hunts -$1/3 I ordered from a trader 2 weeks ago for $.03 ea. HTH
Ok back to getting ready for another fun shopping day and of course work. =)
Hi All,
ReplyDeleteI forgot to add, yesterday I received my $25 booklet of coupons for ConAgra products and the $5 WM GC for sending in my receipts from the last ConAgra deal from SNS. I also received 4 x $10 SNS GCs from the Post Dispatch Promo from a couple weeks ago. =) Very good mail week.
Janet, When are you going to post pictures? =) I'd love to see your stockpile! That's awesome that you donate so much. I hope to do more some day, but for now, my five kids eat it almost as fast as I can bring it in! Definitely sounds like you had a fabulous mail week!
ReplyDeleteLynda, I ordered my $1/3 Hunt's Qs on ebay. I paid a bit more than Janet, but I haven't built up the trading resources/network that she has yet. They didn't arrive yesterday, though, so really hoping they come today.
I just wanted to let you know that the Better Oats coupon doesn't work because the ones on sale are 7.55 oz and the coupons are for 12.5oz or larger.
ReplyDeleteHi Staci,
ReplyDeleteOMG five kids =) I think I would be the hit if they like Poppycock and Hunts pudding =) I think my teen eats it as fast as I can hide it. And he has found all the good hiding spots =) I did do some tallies on what I have purchased this week and OMG this one is kinda shocking me and I am about half way done. I am trying to verify if the ConAgra deal will be running til the 17th **Other SuperValu chains have this promo end date and I think ours will be the same --if so that is 5 more days to work the deal. Yippee =)
I have not been taking pics, guess I should have, like I said this one is shocking me so far.
So far I have gotten $549.78 in products
Total OOP: $107.73
Cats in hand: $80.00
Tax: $20.64
Total OOP after Cats/Tax: $7.09
Tomorrow is a no work day except for SNS. =) Nine transactions planned then on to the sodas if they are corrected in the system and triggering the cat. I will let you guys know more when I know more. And you guys should know how much I REALLY LOVE SOME Thursdays----I REALLY REALLY love next Thursday. =) Ok I guess I have talk/typed enough, I am beat gonna take a shower and have a cup of Swiss Miss. =)
Happy shopping to All.
FYI - If you ever want to see if a Thursday has the potential to go 10 off 50 - look in the last years archives. Shop N Save has followed the same standard promotional calendar for these days for years. The only changes are around holidays that change dates such as Easter. The same is true for the specials they will be running that week. These promos tend to follow the manufacter's calendars which are pretty static also.
ReplyDeleteFor historical financial reporting purposes they can't manipulate the calendars much by week/month. It would distort results and lead to strange charges they would have to communicate to investors and thus impact stock price.
Another thing to watch at Shop n Save is the change in pricing from week to week. The cat item prices may actually jump from the prior week and thus eliminate some benefit of the cat. This depends on if it is a loss leader. They do this with many promotions. They do tend to drop the prices after too. Just something to think about.
(FYI - my professional background is financial management/reporting for top retailers.)
Good Morning to All,
ReplyDeleteThanks for the information Rhonda, I have been hearing(from the top) that they are kinda getting worried about the new SWM in Godfrey and the new Aldi getting ready to open. We were scheduled for a -$10/$50 this week BUT someone in marketing goofed and it was not put in the ads. We might be seeing more -$10/$50 if they are affraid of the competition. And I am dedicated to SNS, it does not matter to me if/when/how they change prices, I still come out way ahead by shopping at SNS compared to Any other store(except for frees). I am not sure if past calendar info will match current calendar info since SNS is faced with the new competition. Just my 2 cents. =)
All starry eyed here now with the thought of Dr Pepper dropping in price next week/Cat deal still going til the 17th means When they change the prices-I will be coming home with more Dr Pepper(13 x 1.78*next week price) compared to this week (8 x 3.02) Yippee for this price change.
Also Rhonda I hope you received that large envie of Coke/Salty Snack coupons to use in time for some good deals.
Hope Everyone has a Great Shopping Day. =)
Tried to buy a MasterCard GC to get the $5 catalina. Even though it said $3.95 activation fee on the front, it rang up as $4.95. Obviously I did not buy it.
ReplyDeleteHi KC,
ReplyDeleteHave you been doing the ConAgra Cat deal? I might get a couple of the Applebees GCs for DH. =)
Janet,
ReplyDeleteMy daughter and I did the ConAgra deal three times each yesterday using the $10/$50 at the Crestwood location! I don't know how you do so many orders. I was fatigued at the end! We had gotten ConAgra coupon booklets from a mail in rebate we had done. Those coupons made many products free, so we just had to shop and shop and shop! My daughter bought an Applebee's GC because they eat there. However, my husband and I don't. It is a good restaurant, just not convenient for us.
Keep letting us know about all your bargain shopping!
Hi All
ReplyDeleteLeAnn - Thanks for the additional info on the Better Than Oats. Sorry if it casued you problems.
Thanks, Rhonda for the "insider" info.
I don't follow regular shelf price that closely, but I do notice at SNS prices are all over the board. But, if there is Cat deal and you have good coupons, it doesn't really matter.
I feel sorry for the people who just go in and buy what the need or want that week without paying attention to prices and deals.
KC - I'd complained about the activation fee rining up differntly than advertised.
I love all this "extra" info! Thanks! I think I may just buy Hunt's tomatoes today and not even do a $50 order. I'll save my 2nd $10 cat and some of my higher value Qs for next week and start planning early. =)
ReplyDeleteJanet - Any Qs that you know of that we might want to start searching for/trading for now?
All,
ReplyDeleteDo you do what I do when I see a person checking out with a huge cart of groceries and no coupons? I find myself calculating the savings they could have. And the advantages they are missing. I see people with $200 orders. I would just have a cow.
On terms with WalMart and Aldi, Walmart historically when put in between two geographically large existing WM stores takes volume from the stores people in that are were shopping. In this case, impacting Jerseyville and Wood River. Aldi will do the same thing. Traditionally, there will be some pull from SNS for a temporary amount of time (usually 2-3 months) but those type of shoppers are different. "Newness effect" And SNS may run targeted promotions for this area during that time. A good example of this is when Kohl's Collinsville opened. It mostly impacted sales on Edwardsville. Their sales dropped about 25%. What kills me is people who shop at Walmart actually pay a higher price on most items. I do some shopping there but very little. Mostly it is the fresh breads. I even get my prescriptions at SNS.
Janet,
As to the Qs. Not yet. The soda ones are for Coke 0 and I am not a big fan of it. The others, I would have to leave the house to use them and I haven't left in 6 days. I do not do cold. I am going to go out tomorrow. I am getting low on fresh produce and have to get those pineapples and blueberries at Aldi.
But, nothing is setting my bells and whistles off right now.
I love having a stockpile. Makes life so much easier.
Hi All,
ReplyDeleteStaci--I will scan the ad and double ck for us all.
Rhonda I sent the envie out last week-it did have the Coke/Coke Zero & Salty Snacks in it-sounds like you did receive it. I will send out some -$3 Any Mixers for you to use on your Diet Coke since my goof on the Coke/Coke Zero ones =) I think anyone within a 20 foot area can hear me gasp when their shopping total goes over a hundred dollars. Thats what got me into heavy couponing-I was not going to spend our hard earned money on no more than I had to period. And I have to agree having a stockpile makes it some much easier.
To All,
I was at SNS from 9:15 til 11:00 am today, not much time IMO compared to the savings/benefit of donations that has come from it. I will do a final tally with my included cost of coupons when I am finally done with ConAgra.
Oh and if anyone goes back out to SNS could you please ck on the shelf tag of a ConAgra item (Hunts tomatoes for example)to see when the sale date ends? This would be helpful for next weeks planning and I Forgot to ck. TIA
Happy shopping to all.
Hi Staci,
ReplyDeleteI pulled some Bar S -$1/2 Qs 1/30RP
Franks are 10/10
Kelloggs Cereals -$1/3 Qs 1/9 RP
8.7oz bx Fruit Loops
8.9oz bx Smorz
9 oz bx Rice Krispies
10 oz bx Cinnabon Cereal
12 oz bx Corn Flakes orig. or Simply Cinnamon
Cereals listed are 3/$5
If you like Kashi Cereals: store Q to use w/Man Q, Save $3 on Fresh Fruit wyb 3 Kashi Cereal.
GM Promo buy 10 PP General Mills get 50 BTFEs- a cat back with this would have been nice.
I also noticed another Cat deal for Country Crock 15 oz + Buy 2 G $1 1/23/11-2/19/11 the 15 oz is running 2/$3. Not sure of which Qs if any to go with that yet but I will post info in the CouponSTL Trader area also. =)
HTH and have a great day =)
Hi All
ReplyDeleteSorry I have to add to my last post the -$1/3 Kelloggs coupon from the 1/9 RP is for 10 oz and larger, any flavor, Mix or Match. =)
Thanks, Janet! That Kashi Q will come in handy and I have a few high dollar Qs that I need to use before they expire, and I love that it is for produce, even though SNS is not my favorite place to buy produce.
ReplyDeleteI didn't think to check on the sale date on the tomatoes and I didn't see your post until after I went. =(
Yea, my kids would love to come snack at your place. We don't typically have those types of snacks on hand, so they would be quite happy! =)
Hmmm, now I'm trying to decide if I should get some more Hunt's Qs.
Hi KC,
ReplyDeleteSounds like you and DD had a great time shopping =) I rec'd my second ConAgra coupon booklet w/WM GC today. I am surprised at the coupons inside there are some pretty good ones.
Hi Staci,
I am just laughin here at myself because as crazy(only cuz I have 100 cans right now) as it sounds I thought about buying some more Hunts coupons. My coupon connection still has some for $.03 ea. =) And I agree on the SNS produce, I am very picky and it is really hard to find good fresh produce.
I did use a couple of the Cats today to get a couple items I needed, DH steak and Jacks pizza for the kids this weekend.
Here's that one from today:
4 Swiss Miss Cocoa $4.00
4 Hunts Ketchup $4.00
3 Hunts Snack Pks $3.00
6 Hunts Pasta Sause $5.58
8 CBAD spag & rav $8.00
1 Blue Bonnet Marg. $.58 **Is part of ConAgra deal**
4 Jacks Pizza $10.00
1 Porterhouse Steak $5.66
1 bg Fritos Chili Cheese
-$12 in MQs
-$30 in Cats
= .......... $.50 + .01 tax = $.51 =)
And Rec'd the $10 Cat back =)
Gonna go make a cup of Swiss Miss.
BBL
Janet,
ReplyDeleteFor good fresh produce in our area, The Fruit Stand usually has very good stuff. He is the brother of the owner of Market Basket and they buy produce together. Same quality as MB prices are just lower due to the economics of the area. Also, I get a great deal of mine at Dierbergs and some deals (like the pineapple) at Aldi.
Hi All
ReplyDeleteRhonda - I agree with you on Walmart. I haven't seen lower prices there, no matter how many times they say they have the lowest prices.
Thanks Janet for the next week's preview!
Good Morning to All,
ReplyDeleteTYVM Rhonda on the fresh produce info. I do forget about the Fruit Stand down there in WR. I will have to stop and ck it out been yrs since I had been in there.
Now I am going to list my last weeks shopping with the ConAgra deal. And to some these amounts might be extreme but 50% of the items are for donations soooooo here we go:
100 cans H/C soup
104 cans Hunts tomatoes
93 cans Rotel
128 Hunts Snack Pk puddings
110 bags Poppycock
6 Hunts Pasta sauce
4 Swiss Miss Cocoa
8 CBAD spag/rav
4 Hunts Ketchups
1 Blue Bonnet marg
4 Jacks Pizza
1 Porterhouse steak(5.66)
1 bg of Fritos Chili Cheese
8 Sunkist
8 Dr Pepper**was testing to see if sodas triggered the cat and not working yet**
Total 580 items
Cost before cats and Qs: $768.01
Total OOP: $161.79(of which tax was $21.31)
-$60 in Cats in hand
+$4.80 Cost of Coupons
= $106.59 divided by 580 items
=$.18 per item
HTH and thanks to all that was interested.
Happy Shopping to All and have a Great day. =)
Janet,
ReplyDeleteThat's amazing! Thanks for sharing your tallies.
I need to find some Q sources like yours. I ended up paying quite a bit more than $.03 per Q, but still worth it. =)
Oh, and when I mentioned pics before, I was hoping to see pics of your stockpile. ;-) Care to share sometime?
Hi All,
ReplyDeleteJust cking in for the evening.
Rhonda- I had a question regarding if you tried to use the -$1 Any Bottle Coke/Coke Zero coupons on Diet Coke? I have used the same coupon on Diet Coke/Cherry Coke and Reg Coke 2 ltrs with no problem. Did a store turn you down? Just confused on my end as to why you thought you could not use them on Diet Coke. PLMK =) And anywhoo I had already sent out another envie with $21 in WTs since I thought I had made the mistake. Those plus the first envie should more than cover the Dove Qs you had sent. =)
Have a great evening to All.
Off to prep dinner.
Well bummer! Looks like no Con Agra deal in this week's ad. At least they have the 28 oz cans of tomatoes for $1.50. I can still get some more tomatoes for the equivalent of about $.385 per 14.5 oz can with the Qs I bought. Not as good a deal, but not bad either.
ReplyDeleteHi Staci-
ReplyDeleteIt will not be in the ad this week. This promo is running within the whole SuperValu chain. Many stores with different start/end dates, to cover all stores I am thinking the promo began 2/6 and will end 2/17 to cover the stores in which their ads sales end on the 17th. When I cked shelf tag sale end dates yesterday they ended after the 17th so the ConAgra items are still on sale and should be triggering the cat until the 17th. I will be testing it tomorrow to make sure. I hope that made since. Or if anyone is going to be out today and can test it for us please report back. If you need you can email me through the CouponSTL Trader area. HTH
Hi Janet - I'll be anxious to hear if the ConAgra Cat does run through the 17th. Thanks for testing it.
ReplyDeleteJanet,
ReplyDeleteI was turned down at two stores. Schnucks and Dierbergs. The coupon specifically states Coke or Coke 0. No big deal. Thanks so much. Let me know about the cat too. I will be shopping this week. We went last night and had date night at CVS and Target. Hubs was tired after taking photos of Upward Basketball all week. Over 500 kids. So, I am giving him a break today.
Oh, now I see! That would be beyond awesome if it is still running on Thursday. I will be anxiously awaiting to hear right along with Jeri. I am starting my planning early. I am pulling all of my FREE Qs and starting a list to price check and pulling Qs. =)
ReplyDeleteHi to All,
ReplyDeleteThe ConAgra Cat Deal Is Still Working =) Check your stores prices, I did find most all ConAgra prices stayed the same. This puts a whole new light on Thursday =) For me it is going to be one of those Shop Til You Drop Days =) Have fun planning.
Janet, You are AWESOME! Thank you so much for testing this out. I hope my next set of Qs arrives by Wednesday. I will have enough tomatoes to last a long time. I'll have to share some with my mom and sis and some to the food pantry as well! Time to plan, plan, plan!
ReplyDeleteHi Staci,
ReplyDeleteYou are very welcome. I have ordered double the coupons I did for last week to use this week all but Rotel.
I am going to do several trans of the H/C soups again:
25 HC soup $25
6 JD Sausage $9.84
$16 in Meats
=$50.84
-$15
-$12 HC soup
-$9 JD sausage
-$10 Cat in hand
=$4.84 + tax
Get the $10 Cat back
And then this one for OR Popcorn:
14 OR Popcorn $24.78
1 BB Marg. $.58
6 JD Sausage $9.84
$16 in Meats
=$51.20
-$15 Thursday Disc & Ent. Q
-$24 in Salty Snack WTs =)(8x-$3)
-$9 JD sausage
=$3.20 + tax
And rec the $10 Cat back =)
And you are so right: Time to Plan, Plan, Plan =)
I am interested in hearing what other good deals you guys are planning on buying. I am new to the "bulk" purchases. It is just me and my husband. So when I buy in bulk, it is ususally 5-6 packages of something. Although popcorn does have a decent shelf life and you can freeze the sausage! I am a 2nd generation coupon shopper and even this week has me estatic! I can't wait to tell my mom and grandma!!!
ReplyDeleteHi Rachel,
ReplyDeleteWhen I do the bulk buying it is mainly for donations, that way I can keep the transactions as simple as possible. My thought would be to gather any and every coupon you have for the ConAgra products you want and plan your list.
If I do the HC soup it helps to get my OOP cost very low and benefit from the -$10/$50 and to be able to get exactly what I am going to be needing for the week.
A couple more ideas I have:
25 HC Soup $25
5 Sunkist/Dr.P. $9.78
$16.00 in Fresh Fruits/Veggies and potatoes
=$50.78
-$15 Thursday disc. and -$5/$50
-$12 H/C soup Qs
-$9 Any Mixer WTs
-$10 Cat in hand
=$4.78 + tax
Get a $10 Cat back
25 HC soups $25
12 Gold Peak Tea $15
