  1. Almay Coupon

I am not sure exactly how the Almay coupon in the Spring Beauty Guide will work. It appears to be a Walgreens coupon. If it is, the 30% will come off after that coupon. In other words if you buy a $10 item, the 30% will come off $8 ($10-$2) and not off $10. Therefore the cost would be $5.60 and not $5. The good news with that would be that the Almay should act as a filler. Of course, with Walgreens one never knows. If it is programmed as a manufacturer's coupon, the cost would be $5. However, the Almay product could not be used as a filler and no other Almay coupon could be used with it.

I think this information is correct. Please feel free to correct, if it is not.

The in-ad coupon on both Reach and Trident says limit 3. I've never tried going over their ad limit. Anyone have experience with it going through or being rejected? Not sure if I should try to buy 4 Reach & 4 Trident or not??? I hate those printed limits! ;-)

  3. Hi KC - I think you are correct with the 30% off Almay being deducted after the coupon. I've purchased so few items on a % off sale at Walgreens, I didn't even think about how it was deducted. Thanks for thinking for me!

Hi Kelly - I've never had a problem purchasing more than the stated limit on a Walgreens coupon, but store could enforce those limit. The coupons are not coded to only deduct the limited amount.

It probably would be a idea good to ask the manager at your store if they have any problem with you purchasing more than the stated limit.

  4. Made an early morning Wags run since I work 16 hours today. Got 4 Reach toothbrushes, Tena, Always, Placers and a Myoplex bar. All of my coupons beeped including an RR. The manager didnt want to take my Myoplex and Tena coupons, he said they got an email saying they were fake. I said I printed them right from the manufacturers websites and just stood there til he finally pushed them through. I hate walking out of there being made to feel like I'm a thief :( But everything was free plus $6.50 coupon profit so take that, Walgreens!!

  5. Hi CJ - Wow! You're the early bird this morning, but 16 hours at work. Oh, my!

I've had quite a few coupons beep at Walgreens lately too. The cashier I check out with was saying something about the new register (it didn't look different to me). I'll have to ask her more what's going on.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Jeri - My cashier said the scanner was new. Sometimes I think Walgreens makes coupons beep on purpose to have an excuse to not take them. It's not a very efficient system when they have to take time to over-ride every coupon.

    ReplyDelete
  7. The scanners are weird & most of the cashiers don't like them. Always double check that the coupons are coming off because it beeps like it's taking them, but I've had some that never come off.

  8. Re: CJs shopping trip This is the kind of thing that always makes me wonder if Walgreens is worth it. Unless you have a cashier that you use frequently it is all too frequently a pain to shop there. They set their policy to be tricky and then get upset when they have to deal with it - I really dislike rewarding retailer behavior like that, especially when companies like CVS have found ways to do very similar programs without being jerks all the time....at least at my stores this is the case anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  9. According to my cashier, the scanners are super sensitive--six Tridents rang up instead of TWO--she caught it for me--and they are programmed to find coupons that are expired. Still, this doesn't explain the beeps on the coupons we know to be okay. Walgreens cashiers are consistent in complaining about their company and coupons. I think CVS employees are still go-ho, but I have noticed one that was a little nasty about self-clearers. I think if someone clears the shelf it makes their day a little more hateful because they have to write rainchecks.

Luckily, I had none of the coupon problems. The Trident ended up being way cheaper than Jeri's price in this post. I got 4 packs for .38 TOTAL! Each pack rang up @ 1.39. The cashier took off 1.39 for 2 packs (2 B1G1 coupons) plus the in-ad coupon took off another 2.40. My boys are happy as we were running low on gum!

FYI, in this week's RP insert there was $1/2 Mars Easter candy. The Snickers eggs are priced at 2/$1 so they're free. I don't think this was in the ad. I read it on some other blog.

  11. I bought 4 reach floss today. Used 3 man coupons and 1 wags coupon ended up paying $1.04 for them. But no register rewards printed out. I dont kniw if u should call customer service or what and ask what the deal is. I hear that there should be one printing out but I cant find a legimate site or anything to print out to show them about the deal. What are your opinions about what I should do?

    ReplyDelete
  12. Hi All - I agree the Walgreens system is very inefficeint. I wonder if they figure the true cost when they purchase new equipment. Not only the time it takes employee to deal with it, but lost customers.

I agree with pixie_bit - Unless you have a relationship with an employee or two, it is very difficult to shop at Wags. My advise for newbies would be to try a few different stores until you find that "helpful" employee.

Megan - It might be only Reach toothbrushes that are triggering the Catliana. You could return your floss for brushes. Or you could call Catlaina Marketing (877) 210-1917

Here is a link to the I Heart Wags image of that deal (you can also look under March Monthly RR at the site)
I think Jeri is right, the catalina that advertised the month long RR says "toothrushes" specifically.

  14. Thanks, pixie_bit for finding that link. I've updated my post to reflect tootbrushes only.

  15. darn, and i already met my limit on the reach printable coupons. oh well, 4 reach floss for only a buck is not that bad at all tho.

  16. Possible rebates at Walgreens - Nexcare bandages with TMF peelies on the boxes. From what I've heard there are 3 different varieties and you can do one rebate for each. There's also a $1/2 coupon on the Nexcare site. I'm going to check at a couple locations tonight to see if they have them.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Thanks for the reminder, CJ! I'm heading to Wags in a bit, so I'll check, too.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Thanks, CJ!

Hi Staci - Let us know what you find.

    ReplyDelete
  19. OK I was just at Wags & my RR didn't print for the Plackers so the cashier just handed me a RR for $2....I know the one with Retailer:MhP/Unvrsl is for the Method, but what is the SBF for? Just don't want to use it on something & not get one back. TIA

    ReplyDelete
  20. Rachel - SBF is the Placers RR.

The Almay deal worked great for me today. Bought the container of pads for $4.54, the $2 Wags coupon scanned and I got the $5 RR for $2.46 profit :) No Nexcare bandages at all at the Clayton Wags.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I did do 2 transactions back to back & just figured she would put the receipt & RRs in the bag since she normally does, but I guess this time she must of set it aside....thank you that makes me feel better cause I thought she was just giving me a RR she has out & it would affect her drawer!

    ReplyDelete
  22. No Nexcare at the Olive & Hanley Wags, but no Almay either. =( Looks like I'll have to head to Olivette to try to get some of the Almay.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I'm not sure if any of the Wags stores in our area carry Nexcare bandages on a regular basis, I think I've searched for them before without success. People in other cities report finding the rebate displays on end caps or in the pain reliever or baby aisles.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Hi CJ - I haven't even checked. The couple of store I usually shop are lowering shelves and a total mess. I'm not sure if they would even know if they carried Nexcare or where it would be.

I've also tried to think twice about running to get a deal because of the price of gas.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Just a comment...I always use the cosmetic counter at checkout at my walgreens in texas...they are much nicer, take more time with the coupons, try to make them work, etc...just a suggestion! also, i have never been able to buy over the printed limit here in texas...

    ReplyDelete
  26. Hi norabegood - I always check out at the cosmetic counter too. They don't get as frazzled with coupons because they usually don't have a line forming behind a couponer.

I've never had a problem puchasing more than the limit on an in-ad coupon either, but stores could inforce the limits.
