Walgreens $5 Scenario - Week of 5/1/11
The most cost effective way to shop at Walgreens is to roll Register Rewards - spend Register Rewards on products that trigger more. I highly suggest checking out at the Cosmetic Counter. Multiple transaction always go smoother at a less busy register.

The total on transaction #1 seems to be off. I'm getting $6.47 OOP. Did you calculate a RR from last week and not type it in?
ReplyDeleteHi Nancy - The Right Guard is Buy one get one free, so you only are paying for one.
ReplyDeleteso you can couple a mfg blg1 on top of a store's b1g1 and not have to pay a penny?
ReplyDeleteWalgreen's policy is that you CAN pair a BOGO free coupon with a BOGO free sale and get both free ! :) if they are out of it, don't forget to get a raincheck since it is a sale That has nothing to do with RR
ReplyDeleteWatch the price on the RG BW - mine rang up at $4.49 and .50 and the maximum value of the B1G1 coupon is $4.49.
ReplyDeleteStore shelves all cleared of the body wash at the 3 stores I shopped at. Hopefully they will have some at another store if not I will get a rain check. Thanks for the reminder.
ReplyDeletealso, a filler could be Arizona Tea. Reg .99, WAL Q for 2/$1 makes 1 .50
ReplyDeletewatch the right guard body wash as it rings up...the 2nd store i went to rang them up at 1/2 price, so when i went to use my b1g1 coupon i only got 2.29 off 1 and ended up paying 2.49 for each set. I had to show manager that other stores weren't ringing that way and sale is B1g1 not 1/2 price.
ReplyDeleteWhere is the walgreeens Q for Arizona tea? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteSherry - The Arizona Tea coupon is on the back page of the weekly ad flier, available in the Sunday paper or inside the store.
ReplyDeleteRightguard Body wash was $4.99 at my store - so you end up paying $.50 for 2 bottles ($4.99/1 +$0/1 (bogo sale)=4.99-bogo q w/ $4.49 max value=$.50). If your wags shelves are clear, CVS has the same deal just different format - buy them for $2.49, and get a $1 RR on each bottle, 2 per Extracare card. so you pay 4.98, get 2.49 off with the Q and get $2 EB - total end price of $.49 for 2 bottles.
ReplyDeleteCan someone explain fillers and if there is a max to how much a filler needs to cost?
ReplyDeleteAlso...Since I used my tylenol coupon last week at walmart..if I remove that from the first transaction how will that effect the out come of the transaction? (I do have a $2.00 peelie from the one I bought at walmart that i could use)
ReplyDeleteIs you have an AARP card, have them scan it first. If you spend $20, you get a $5 RR.
ReplyDeleteFillers - Fillers are needed for several reasons.
ReplyDelete1- You cannot use more Manf. coupons that items you purchase and RR are considered Manf. coupons. Example: If you are buying (1) product and use (1) Manf. coupon and want to use (1) RR a filler is needed to use the RR.
2. Some times you need a filler item to bring the total up to or over the value of the RR you want to use. Walgreens will not reduce a RR to the value you owe like CVS will do with ECBs.
Transaction #1 without Tylenol Precise - It would work the same, except you might pay a penny more.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the AARP info ! I've been trying to ignore them. They have been stalking me for several year :)
ReplyDeleteThe Tylenol precise site will not take me to the coupon, I enter my email and DOB, click get coupon, and it takes me right back to the page I just filled out. Taking me in circles?
ReplyDeleteHi Jill - I've alread printed 2 coupons, but I was just now able to work through the submission and get to the coupon printing page. Maybe they've fixed a problem. I would try again if I were you.
ReplyDeleteI just want to say I LOVE MY WALGREENS!!!
ReplyDeleteI was in there today & spoke to the store manager. I have always liked their store since I discovering how nice & coupon friendly she is. I ended up with 10 of the BOGO free coupons for the Right Guard body wash. (because people know I am crazy and will put them to good use!)
I asked her if she could order them for me and she said sure! She is also ordering a couple other things for me too.
It probably doesn't hurt that I worked for a non-profit and we bought lots of clearance school supplies last year. I asked her if she could also order about 400 backpacks when it comes time to order them for me too.
They have already ordered alot of their school supplies for next fall. Weird!
Hi Tonya - Sounds like you have a fantastic Walgreens manager to work with.
ReplyDeleteHopefully, most managers are willing to work with their customers. I wish all couponers would get to know the manager at their stores. It would solve many problems. And if it doesn't, they would know it's time to move on and find another stores.
I was told when all of the great products on your list were gone on Sunday evening that you need to be there at eight in the morning when they open. I will be going in next Sunday early and thanks for your help.
ReplyDeleteHi Anonymous - If you aren't able to shop at Walgreens on Sunday, your lucky if you find any of the deals.
ReplyDeleteI can't find the Scotch Tape .90 cent coupon nor the May Tylenol $3 coupon. Can anyone direct me? I have their May 2011 Savings Book but it is not in there. The Scotch Tape coupon in their weekly advertisement is for .39 cents.
ReplyDeleteFound the $3 Tylenol Coupon! yay!
ReplyDeleteHi Anonymous - The Scotch tape coupon is the coupon in Waglreens weekly ad. The tape will ring up regular price and then the in-ad coupon will deduct what ever amount to make the tape .39 this week.
